The state of Russia today

Featured Replies

I would hate to live in Russia, but whilst I respect those who are standing up and trying to spread awareness. I still think it's something that you need to be mindful about, and perhaps doing this in supermarkets could have been better thought out.

The sentence is a joke, but again it's Russia.

This is terrible, but at the same time when you cry during your sentencing and then you’re caught posing with smiles, it makes it harder to sympathise with. Yes, what she did wasn’t worth going to jail but the behaviour makes you wonder if it was more for the attention it got, rather than the awareness she spread with her anti-war messages.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

But @AmericanPie "then you’re caught posing with smiles, it makes it harder to sympathise with.".... This is seriously about Russia today where any anti war rhetoric is punishable by long prison sentences...the freedom of "anyone" to speak out just isn't there

It’s admirable, but is it worth sacrificing seven years of your life, knowing that protesting the war or opposing Putin can lead to severe consequences or even worse? There have been instances where people have been sentenced to death for protesting against Putin, and opposition candidates have been unjustly imprisoned. It seems more logical to either leave the country or start a revolution. However, Russians are generally not known for taking such actions.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!
