It's worrying for football, but I can't see how their situation will improve. Finding someone with enough money to handle their debt and grow the club from there seems unlikely.

I’m really worried about them. I wish the clubs would unite and try to rescue them. Things are looking bleak.

It's awful, they have been massively let down by their owner and club officials for overspending. Noor Husin, our former midfielder, is currently playing for them.

I don't see a bright light at the end of their tunnel sadly, I think they will be lucky to survive which is a shame because they have always been a league club in terms of where I would position them. Their downfall is very saddening, what happened to Bury shocked the football community but this I feel is even sadder because they have had issues for multiple seasons now.

This is not just about the sad demise of Southend, we have a long sorry list of Clubs going out of business and some being resurrected in another form, low down the football pyramid.

If Southend go out of business I am sure it will rise again in another form, nobody wants to see that and I hope they can raise the money required but it does look at stretch.

We know football as a whole in this Country is in trouble but unfortunately, the footballing authorities don't want to change the status quo, because it might affect the earnings of the elite clubs

The spectre of a Super League being formed will always figure in the FAs & EFLs thinking, so more money for the lower leagues will always be a non starter.

horrible to see they need such a huge amount of money in order to survive, that sort of cash is difficult to come back and it looks very disappointing. i hope southend can overcome it but its looking unlikely. :(

I thought everything was alright now? I read that a group came in and found a way to save Southend?
