1,950 league defeats

As I discovered on the internet today (which we all know is never wrong), we have lost a total of 1,950 league games, which is more than any other club. Barnsley and Grimsby are next on the list with about 30 fewer, albeit from not as many FL seasons. Unfortunately, we've been a bit rubbish for a very long time.

Perversely, I feel a bit of pride in this as it means we've A) been around for a very long time and B ) we've been punching above our weight for a fair part of it. What do we do if we hit 2,000 first? Have a party to drown our sorrows?

If we embraced change instead of clinging to the past, we could have a say in what the future holds.Β It shows that Notts has been around for a very long time, but it has also been mismanaged in equal parts. To be honest, it’s one of those "meh" statistics.

One game closer now! It's a very admirable way of looking at it, to say we have been punching above our weight! No doubt at times we have but also, it does show how for long periods we've just been pretty rubbish..Β ????????

Where are the other founding members on that list? Anyone near us? All apart from Accrington who no longer exist are either in the Prem or Championship right now! That's quite depressing in a way, why has it gone so wrong for us!Β

Results have definitely improved since the Bros came in, maybe Grimsby will actually beat us to it!

It's good that our fortunes are changing, but there's no surprise that the club has seen such a high amount of defeats during the years. We have been around for a considerable long time, so I don't think the figure is something we should be disappointed about - it's just one of those strange facts we need to embrace. It's part of our history, and really it's just a reminder of how we hope to improve at the other end of the spectrum with wins.

When you've been around for so long, defeats are going to rack up. It's even more true when you support a club that has stayed in the 4th tier of English football and bounced up and back from divisions. I don't see the number of defeats as a negative. Sure, it would be nicer if they were wins, but then Notts as we know now wouldn't be seen as special as it is.

The statistic might seem alarming, but it’s crucial to remember that those numbers merely highlight how long we've been in the game. Each defeat was a step in our long-standing history. It speaks to our tenacity and the stories etched in these matches. Despite those losses, Notts has always shown a knack for resilience, bouncing back when we least expected.

While others may have faltered, we’ve kept battling. Now, with a new era, it's a pivotal moment to look towards a brighter horizon. Amidst the setbacks, there's a relentless hope to win, energising us fans to stand tall and proud. How we respond to those 1,950 defeats will shape the years to come.

It's easy to see the number 1,950 and feel disheartened, but for us, it's like a badge of honour, testament to decades spent battling it out. We might have more defeats, but think of the memories made: the thrilling clashes, surprising upsets, and those moments of near victories that kept us all on the edge of our seats.

Despite these setbacks, we've been here, pushing on and dreaming bigger. With club management turning a new leaf, hopefully, these long memories will only serve as inspiration. Here's to turning those numbers around, cheering on more wins, and creating newer victories. We've seen tougher days, so let's welcome the change. The Only Way is Up for the Pies!

It might not seem like it to a 21st century fan, but we've spent less time in the fourth tier than in each of the other divisions. Maybe that's why we've racked up so many losses? Either way, it's character building :D
