It was a dissapointing defeat against Walsall, however on the positive side there were some good performances for Notts despite the defeat.

I have picked nine players for my shortlist for Man of the Match for Notts.

They are:-

Martin, Jatta, Platt, Bass, Bedeau, Abbott, Palmer, McGoldrick & Crowley.

I think the Notts defence played well again with Platt & Bedeau the standouts once again.

Bass had a good game with Abbott & Palmer featuring as usual.

Josh Martin had a good game once again as did David McGoldrick.

For me it was a choice between David McGoldrick, Josh Martin & Matty Platt for Notts Man of the Match.

I think that Alassana Jatta just shades it, with his overall performance, scoring another well taken goal, & him being unlucky not to get a brace of goals.

I voted for David McGoldrick. I was a bit disappointed that we conceded two goals after taking the lead. However, we have to admit that Walsall are a good team. I thought McGoldrick put in a good effort. Alassana Jatta had a quiet second half. He did well to score, but his performance could have been more impactful.

Thought Crowley deserved to be listed. Was always trying his spins, was a whisker away late in the game. Not sure how Palmer was deserving of MoTM

I too thought Crowley was worth listing, I would have voted for him, I think he made a couple of mistakes but otherwise he had a good game.

Interesting how we all see the match so differently. I thought Didzy and Crowley were passengers at the start of the second half and when they got the ball they generally took to many touches. Likewise I thought second half was one of Platt’s poorer performances. His scuffed clearance leads to their first and then he is beaten to the ball by Lowe for their second.

First half everyone was pretty good though but I did find it odd we pushed Palmer out a touch wider, and he wasn’t as involved at times. We played almost in a diamond at times with Abbott at the base. I think second half we really needed Palmer and Abbott to play more as a holding duo to potentially stop their advances.

It was a game of two halves so it’s much harder to score, Martin played well and got undeservingly hooked for me. But overall I think Abbott came away from that match with the most credit.
