He looks a big lad, with injuries to Ness and Macari the defence needs bolstering.

More info on Zac Johnson.

"Johnson began his playing career at his hometown club Sunderland and made his first appearance in the EFL Trophy on 13 October 2021 coming on as a substitute in a 2–1 victory against Manchester United U 21s".

"At 16 years and 141 days old, this appearance made Zak the youngest outfield player to play for Sunderland in almost 50 years".

Is he the tallest player in the squad at 6 ft 5”?! There’s a good little interview on the club website as well, very humble not talking himself up either saying that he’s come here to develop. He’ll get a chance to play with the injuries so I hope he does well.

Of course we need extra bodies in defence after the injuries we've had. This one sounds promising and I hope he does well.

He's not someone I have come across much of, but it's always good to have cover and at this stage having another tall defender on our books wouldn't be a bad thing. I mean, it makes perfect sense in terms of his position and the fact he arrives to us on loan.

Nobody can complain we aren't treating this transfer window as a chance to get things right, although I do hope to see maybe one more signing.

I welcome Zak Johnson, and I eagerly await seeing him make his debut for us.
