Matt Saunders leaves

The "mutual consent" sounds like there won't be any compensation and that the club has just agreed to terminate their contracts so they can pursue whatever they are looking to get involved with.

It's a good thing for Notts. They can now hire another coach and find a suitable assistant for Stuart Maynard, who has EFL experience.

I don't think Joao Alves should take the assistant role long term. Nothing against him, but I would like to see the club make the decision to strengthen the support Maynard has.

A good appointment in the assistant department and perhaps an ex-player, like Jim O'Brien being offered a coaching role, would be the best outcome. I am not saying O'Brien will leave Sheffield United for us.

Is this a good thing? Is it not worrying that we have lost two members of the coaching staff mid season and the impact it may have on performance going forward?

I don't think it's a good thing either. The same applies when a head coach leaves mid season too.

I just hope it won't effect performance. We haven't actually heard of Notts are looking for replacements.

It seems they haven’t gone to Wealdstone because Neil Gibson has been appointed there.

Rumour has it they didn’t leave by their choice, something happened in the tunnel against Walsall and they were dismissed, anyone know any more?

i think the decision for the pair to leave is silly on their part, but i do wonder where they will end up next? i dont think its bad thing for us, i personally dont think either had what we needed and i think stuart maynard could get better support from an assistant. are they trying to leverage their time here to become a first team manager and assistant together? i dont know, just seems odd on their part.

I've not been able to find anything out but it wouldn't surprise me, as departing mid-way through the season, except for personal circumstances is odd. It's also both their first full time coaching job in football too. I'd find it strange you'd walk away from it unless you have something else lined up, which at the minute they seemingly don't.
