A good interview & worth watching. Sam talks about is role towards the end of last season when he helped assisting in the coaching role, his appointment & role as Team Coach & he discussed the new Technical Board. Lots of technical stuff which was fascinating.

Sam didn't rule out helping as an emergency goalkeeper if needed which was interesting to hear. Sam talked about his interest in coaching.

Sam already has goalkeeping coaching qualifications & will be going for his UEFA A licence while at Notts. Listening to Sam I think that he is going to have a good career as a coach & I believe he will be a good addition to the Notts coaching team.

Glad to see Sam Slocombe is staying with the club. I do wonder if the club realises just how critical some fans have been of him as a player.

It’s always puzzled me how quickly supporters can turn on someone like him. I wish him all the best in his new role, and I hope those same fans don’t start having a go at him now he’s a coach.

It sounds like there's going to be more of a focus on the academy, so I hope the club realises that there's a need to push our young players more and give them every opportunity to flourish in our team. There's nothing stopping us from bringing in quality, as this should give young players more to learn from, but it sounds like Sam Slocombe is going to be involved in that. It's a good interview, with the insight that he wants to focus on learning and improving.

With him taking his coaching courses early, it does give him the platform to move into this field and really make an impact.

Sam gave a really good interview, and I'm glad he's sticking around. I think he'll make a great coach. Some people might wonder why he isn’t the new goalkeeping coach, but he still has a lot to offer. He can help attacking players learn how to get past top keepers, which is just as useful.

It’s good to have Sam Slocombe involved as a coach. I think he’ll bring a lot to the role and settle in well.

I did hope the club might find a way to keep Jim O’Brien. Even though he’s with Sheffield United’s youth team, he would’ve been a brilliant addition to Martin Paterson’s coaching setup.

Jim’s experience and strong personality made him a natural leader on the pitch. He could’ve offered some real insight and helped shape the group. Still, I’m glad Sam has got the chance and I’m looking forward to seeing how he does.

@Robbie, a lot of fans are saying he is not good enough to be a coach. a lot of people dont seem to like him which seems unfair but i hope we dont have to rely on him to step back into the net for us. i dont mind so much as third choice tho.

@liampie Sam impressed the Reedtz brothers at the back end of last season when he assisted Maynard in his coaching duties. Sam has qualifications as a goalkeeping coach, & he is going for his UEFA A accreditation as a qualified coach.

I'm not saying Notts should rely Sam as a goalkeeper because he has his coaching duties, but he is here & he's a competent experienced goalie.

We have to trust the Owners judgement over Sam's appointment & their selling of Bass. I'm sure they have plans to replace Bass before the friendlies begin.
