Notts County's Jack Grealish nominated for League One award

JACK Grealish has been given the perfect boost ahead of Notts County's do-or-die clash at Oldham Athletic, having been nominated for the League One Player of the Month award for April.

The on-loan Aston Villa winger will today be working hard on the training ground as the Magpies prepare to face the Latics in their last game of the season on Saturday, knowing a draw will ensure their survival in the division.

And the 18-year-old will no doubt have an extra spring in his step, after having his performances recognised.

Grealish did not add to his tally of five goals last month, but he still produced some dazzling displays in black-and-white stripes to help Notts claim three huge victories against Port Vale, Crawley and Swindon that have put the club on the brink of safety when they looked doomed to relegation only a few weeks ago.

If he adds a few goals to his name, he will no doubt go far but when he assists and gives 100% it's easily understandable that a player like him should be named player of the month.

I really hope he wins, it would be nice if we get a couple of nominations for the player of the year.

We have had a couple of very consistent players, who without Derry's task would have been a lot harder. You can't perform miracles without having people behind you and believing in what you're trying to do.

Go get your prize Jack!

It would be a great reward for him to finish on. Both him and Mac have been brill for most of the season compared to the signed on 'pros' already at the club.

I think grealish has been the better of the two, but no one can argue with Macs goals.

Shame Villa couldn't see their way to extending for another year, but I think bigger and better things await him.

Time to get scounting for a serious left winger shaun. (In fact the time to start that was probably Xmas!)

The two big pluses to come out of the year have been the use of JCR and JG. Both good wingers and work well in a 442.
