Lenton Abbey Medieval Fair

Featured Replies

We took our grandchildren to this on Saturday and it was a great day out. Only £1 entry for waged people and there were lots of people in medieval costumes with interesting stalls. Sword fighting etc., Robin Hood was present along with the Sheriff of Nottingham who had him arrested and put in the stocks but thankfully he was pardoned and set free. Great fun.

@upthepies I bet it is after he realized it was just a quid to get in! LOL

What did the Grandchildren make of it buddy? I like things like this, I'm sure @super_pie would also. Where the heck is Lenton Abbey? I bet it wouldn't be easy for us to get to but will look out for similar events for sure. At a £1 it would be a nice family day out ;)

We took our eldest grandchildren aged 10 and 11, they found it really interesting, I'm not sure younger kids would be so interested. The woodcutter chap was really interesting making bowls and wooden spoons from lime wood using tools that medieval folk would have used.

Sword fights were good too and Robin Hood was brilliant.

Excellent!

Jake met Robin Hood as we was walking near the church (I forget the name - the one near broadmarsh). He also had this picture taken with two living statues, which he was allowed to hold their sword and he loved it.

I can't locate the Robin Hood picture... Oh and I'm not trying to hi-jack this :P

@tonyhateley @super_ram nice of you two, to have gone through some of your old clothes and donate them to these poor street performers

What do you mean 'OLD CLOTHES'?

Hi Liam

It was throwing it down while we were on our way there and we nearly turned back but thankfully it cleared up just as we parked the car and stayed dry while we were there but it was a bit muddy under foot.

@upthepies  Where the heck is Lenton Abbey? ;)

It's on Gregory Street, near the white hart pub if you know that, it's a bit of a nightmare round there at the moment because of all the tram works, next year when the event is on should be a lot better and you'll be able to take the tram.
