"Is this the real life, is thisΒ justΒ fantasy" starts some Queen Song.

Following Saturday, it is a question I too pose of Notts County 14/15 thus far. Β Patchy start, Long unbeaten run followed by another patchy run.

Β

Which is true and which is temporary? Β What can we hang our season on, and what is blips / peaks?

So, onto Brammall Lane on Friday night, and a club surprisingly still plying its trade in these "depths" last coing so near a couple of years ago. Β The day we won at Wycombe, Stevenage drew with Sheff U. Β A result that proved to be costly for both us and the blades; we missed out on GD to the 'newtown lot' in that years playoffs; and Sheff U were left to rue dropped points as they missed out on the autos - their City rivals Wednesday. Β Anyhow.

Links - plenty here of both managerial and playing variety; I'll try to go with a couple of slightly offbeat examples, and here's to this being the largest MAGnet thread thus far....

Β

Paul Rodgers (brought in to replace Peter Butler!) and Tony Battersby ("the new Alan Shearer").

Billy Dearden played for them and also managed us of course.

A player I remember from the 60s Doc Pace who joined Notts in 1964 from Sheffield United and played 29 games scoring 15 goals.

Willie Carlin a great midfield player who @super_ram will remember has also played for both clubs along with Derby County.
