Notts County teenager Colby Bishop has signed his first professional contract with the club.

Keith Curle: Handed Bishop his first contract

The 18-year-old striker, named on the substitutes' bench for the first team on five occasions, has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal.

Bishop signed a scholarship deal with the club's academy in December last year and will now work towards making the step up to the first-team squad.

He will be available to play for County's youth team for the rest of the current campaign before joining the first-team squad full-time ahead of next season.

Thoughts?

A field where dreams become reality.

Not seen him play I don't think but if Shaun thinks he is a good prospect that's good enough for me.

Proud to be a Notts County Supporter for over 60 years.

Good player, if rated enough we should present him with a fair chance and if not, we should loan him out but to only to a league two side.

Well done bishop.

The club have a lot of hopes for Colby, its good to see him extend.

If we had a reserve side, I do feel he would be in that and fighting for a senior squad role more so than he is by playing with the youths. Class player, who can go far with the right guidance. Hope it works for us and him.

Good news. I do think if we give these players contracts, that they should get a place in the first team.

Before Hollis and Thompson, we seemed to give these youngsters a contract, to see maybe 1 or 2 subs appearances, then be released as soon as the contract was up, ala Nangle.

I hate to say it but I dont think we will give the chance he deserves.

Derry will need to be patient, it is hard to make the jump and i just feel he will be another who moves onto bigger and better things away from Notts. It is good news!

I think they're handling him the right way to be honest, him staying in the youth team for the rest of the season and getting game time is going to keep his development on track. We don't know where we're going to be at the start of next season and who we're going to have in our squad, so he could be an important member of the squad at that point or depending who's in the team, we might be able to loan him out. Keeps our options open

Great news! The future is looking bright.

Over the next 3-5 years I see quite a few oldsters l players coming through
