Message from Shaun

It's important, I agree with that and don't get me wrong I appreciate it (despite not receiving them again) but I sometimes feel like it'd deja vu.

Rallying the support is a vital part of the clubs progress, getting people in seats but as passionate as Shaun Derry is or however well liked he his within the fan base. The attendance won't pick up largely, it will be the same core and many will not be going because it's cold or they don't have the money. Especially with it being Christmas time, I've been told by a mix of people that they won't be attending Saturday.

The plus for the club is the dedication of fans whom travel great distances, plus the fans who go no matter what.

It's not always about the performances, sometimes it is but I do feel Shaun should focus on other ways in order to connect with the fans.

Just my honest opinion.

i do enjoy reading them but i do feel like not much changes.

include how the squad are coming together and possible the feel around ml, it always seems geared towards absent fans and i suspect the majority of bench members are there no matter what.Β

No arm in rallying the support, I do wonder actually how many read the messages.

Yet I do think it is a decent touch by the manager and club.

Shaun is doing his job, and doing it well, by encouraging more to attend, he is hoping that the crowd can spur on the players...

Time of year can't help, and we may not have a huge following that turn up week in week out, but those that do can given the right encouragement on the pitch make sufficient noise... This harps back to the DS thread, but one problem of ML is its size, unless the place is absolutely rocking it can be a demoralizing place to play in.

The crowd need to be lifted and need to do the lifting... but we don't get the numbers... I often wonder if a smaller maybe 15,000 stadium would suit us better

Agreed, but what else is there for him to say? Most of them you can write yourself every Thursday before Shaun does, but I'd struggle to think of anything new to say each week. The bench was a great initiative but I'm not sure it warrants the repeat message every week for here on in. Maybe once a month?

Its a good thing.

He could highlight players in training, what they've been doing/working on (which opposition teams cannot use against us). He could tell how he feels, what's new, his hopes and how the fans played apart in the last x games.

Otherwise he might as well adapt his messages into a post card.

"Miss you".

Oh wait, I go. Like I say, I like them but I bet few and fewer read them.
