Some great pubs on the list and brought back lots of memories!!!

 

Which pubs do you remember? Any you dank in regularly?

 

For me it was more about the places that had good paying fruit machines and pool tables. Used to be a bit of a pool shark back in the day. Would target certain pubs where me and mates knew the gaming machines hadn't had the correct win percentage set in them so used to play pool until Joe Public had filled them nicely then emptied them out totally. Back then it was only £20 jackpot, but do that a few times a night and it was good money!

 

Potters, The White Hart on Mansfield Road, The Star inn Basford, Nell Gwynn and the list goes on!!!

 

Mostly Home Ales tied pubs now I think of it.

I remember many of them, not sure which I've been in but I'm sure @super_ram can tick quite a few off.

There's a few of pubs there that super and me used to go in-The Colliers Arms,The Red Lion and The Park Tavern -when we were courting.There's a lot more that we used to call in when we went for walks with @notts_joe and @william1984 when they were young-The Early Bird,The Bull and Butcher,The Highbury.I'm Sure @super_ram will mention loads more.

A lot of town centres and pubs seem to be closing and being replaced with supermarkets and charity shops.

A bit depressing really.

Crystal Palace was a really small pub on Clumber Street, nice pint of Shipstones if I remember right.

I'm beginning to sound a bit of a alcoholic but I remember drinking in all those pubs, I'm sure that list is incomplete because I can remember a few more and I;m sure there are lots more.

 

There was a Spread Eagle near the Technical College (now Nottingham Trent University) when I was a student. There was also one near the Portland Baths in the Meadows, was it called Muskham Arms or something like that? Also the Bentinck opposite Midland Station, is that still there?

     Yes I remember and have been in a lot of these pubs.The first pub in Nottingham I went in was The Windmill on Weekday Cross,a lovely old pub with character.I used to work in Weekday Cross and other pubs we visited in and near the lace market were The Old Cricket Players,The Queen Elizabeth and The Fountain Inn.We'd sometimes call in at The Loggerheads on Cliff Road..

     A couple of pubs @GrannyPie forgot that we sometimes stopped off at were The Duke of Newcastle and The Barley Mow in Basford Local to where we live were also The Cocked Hat and The John Barleycorn.

     In the late 60's /early 70's me and my mates went in a couple of pubs on London Road on our way to see The Rams win at the donkey sanctuary.I can't remember their names but they were very run down.When I went to the toilet I had to keep my foot against the door to stop it falling off.We were made very welcome,though as both pubs were full of Notts fans.
