Just hearing the forecast and it sounds we might be having some of the white stuff, possibly tomorrow night and Thursday.

I also noticed that across the pond that New York are expecting a really bad storm with gale force winds and up to three feet of snow. We normally end up getting a smaller version of whatever they get so baton down the hatches folks.

Snow Thursday, Friday and Saturday for us. Some again the week after.

Sick of the stuff, roll on summer. (No doubt I'll be complaining about the heat and roll on winter etc...)

I've had a warning from our host regarding the server and data centre, they have reassured me it will cope with any heavy snow. I don't know why people are going into a meltdown mode about it, just get on with it.

That said I have a driving lesson on Friday and I would prefer normal conditions. :P

For once I do not want it to snow! Yes, that's correct. I don't want it.

Apparently it wasn't any where near as bad as forecasted in the states, they practically shut the whole of New York down and stopped people travelling except emergency vehicles but only had a bit of snow.

They obviously need @hissingdwarf over there to give them a proper forecast.

If you guys are willing to pay for an all expenses paid trip to the USA then who am I to argue?

Start the collection asap and i'll give you banking details.

Remember though i'm 41 now and would like to go before I retire so jump to it!

@hissingdwarf I was thinking about sticking you in a canoe and making you paddle, that way you could give us advance forecasts while you go

It's been very windy and cold all day with the sky quickly alternating between fairly clear and very cloudy. There's also been a lot of very short rain/hail/sleet/snow showers but soon passing.

I was listening to r4 this morning and they interviewed a woman from New York who had cut short her vacation in miami to get home, and on arrival in New York was disappointed at the lack of really bad weather. My thoughts, ' that's a real New Yorker for you'.

At one point it looked like a blizzard here, literally you couldn't see across the street when you looked out. It's slowed down now, though I am hoping it settles better because that will help against black ice which is far worse IMO than actual mushy snow. I have a driving lesson tomorrow and I am not looking forward to it, I am sure once we get onto the main roads it will be fine.

Though if @jsrjay hates driving in the snow, I know I will.

It looked like we were going to be snowed in but it didn't last long.

We went to fetch our bikes from Derby and it had only just started when we left, we got on the motorway and it was a blizzard very poor visability and settling even on the motorway. We got to the shop ok by which time it had eased off a bit, when we got back with our bikes it had practically all gone. We didn't cycle back down the motorway before you ask.

Its not a pleasant experience that's for sure @notts-joe. Even though ive been driving many years and drove in snow many times its not something I enjoy.

I actually don't mind it, @Drivingmenotts really explained how to manage it.

Driving slowly, making sure you stay in a good gear (1st or 2nd). I actually enjoyed driving around the co-op car park practising stopping in the snow. LOL
