Now This Is A Fixture Pile-Up

Next time any of you get annoyed by the amount of postponments and a fixture backlog, spare a thought for Guernsey FC of the Combined Counties League,

They've had over 30 postponments this season, and they now have to try and fit in 23 (yes TWENTY THREE) matches between now and 6th May, including an FA Vase Semi Final second leg trip to Spennymoor! So it could be 24 games although Guernsey trail 3-1 from the first leg.

Their fixture congestion means they'll have to play on Friday Saturday and Sunday every weekend between now and the end of the season.

They have games on the following dates:

March - 26th & 30th

April - 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 21st, 24th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 30th

May - 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th!

Christ the poor players are going to be absolutely drained! Can see a few stress fractures and fatigue based injuries...

Club could also suffer financially aswel from fans not being able to afford to show up with so many home games so close together...

How come so many postponements?Floods, snow, ice, earthquake, gales, outbreak of bubonic plague, invasion from Mars?

All to do with the bad weather. Not only have they had a lot of postponments due to waterlogged/frozen pitches, but they've not been able to get over to the mainland and teams haven't been able to go over there either.

Quite a back log! Great post too!

I wonder if they'll ask local players to help in if rules don't permit this, I don't see them keeping players fit for all these games and might cost them points. It really does hit clubs when games are called off, I bet some supporters will be like Andy Capp and use it as an excuse to hit the pubs. LOL :)
