NOTTS County will not have a top-six budget in League One next season.

But boss Chris Kiwomya believes he can make the Magpies stronger with less cash to splash in the transfer market this summer and insists it does not show a lack of ambition to get into the Championshipicon1.png from the club.

"I don't think the budget next season will be a top-six budget that's for sure, but we will be competing to do well in the league," he said.

The likes of Tranmere Rovers and Yeovil Town are both still challenging for the play-offs this season on small budgets, while Notts are down in 11th place in the table ahead of facing Bournemouth away today (3pm).

No surprise, I think we just need to spend more wisely. Simple

Yes, I think we need to make use of the youths who are good enough and we will never know unless we try them. It's not a case of throwing them into one game but a few, all need to gain as much experience as possible and we need to look at bringing in good 'loan' signings. Mix this with a squad made up of talent, skill and reliable players we could replicate any of the lower budget sides.

Spending wisely as you say!

We do need to spend more wisely but also need to get the right players in, not just cheaper ones.. the whole team counts and if one area is lacking, the whole team loses out in the more important/tougher games.

Definitely spend wisely as everyone else has said, that is the secret of success, it's not always about how much money you can throw at the team, sometimes it's about having a good manager who can spot good players who aren't necessarily on top wages and bringing the younger players on and involving them gradually into the first team. Lets hope that Chris Kiwomya is that man.

I agree entirely with the above comments. Football IS a team game and if one part of the team isn't doing it's job it affects the whole team.It doesn't necessarily need an expensive player to put things right though.A great weight lies on C K's shoulders. He has to get tactics right, get the best out of the players at his disposal and introduce youth players carefully. The players also have a big resposibility. They have to put in the effort and help each other. The fans also have a part to play by getting behind the team and not just when things are going well but especially when things aren't working out. Encouragement is much better than name calling and negative moaning.

I think we do need two decent strikers that can put themselves about a bit and know when and where to make the runs. I would like to see players like Tempest becoming more involved with the first team. We have some good players at the club to build around. Maybe it's time to let Kelly go as he is prone to injuries and when defending he stands off too much and doesn't block crosses. I would keep Jeff Hughes and Sheehan as I think they are still useful to us. Arquin always comes across as not really interested with his body language. We need players who want to play for us and are proud to pull on the Notts shirt.

Excellent Mr. Ram, I am going to write and ask Mr. Trew if he will let you stand in the middle of the pitch with a microphone and make that rousing speech just before kick off at the first game of the season.

Yes Tony, or I could wave that magic wand that supporters of all teams seem to think their manager and owners possess.

I know alot of fans want Ray to keep putting money into the club, obviously hes not going to sit back at let it go down hill... but hes not going to just keep putting more and more in when the fans don't turn up to games because we are losing. If they are true fans they would go to the games even if we are losing (obviously if they have the finances to attend).

Unfortunately some fans only go to watch a winning team . There is always a hardcore of TRUE fans who will attend in all weather ,regardless of performances , league position ,or opposition .

Very true super ram, there are fans like that of all teams... it would be great to see more attend in the hope their team will win though.
