So it looks as though we are trying to sign three players, Dickinson (excellent signing if we pull it off) a midfielder and a goalkeeper(more than likely back up), all key positions we need to address in my opinion. I'd like to hope sign an extra defender as well as Dickinson as that defence was awful last season and one player won't fix that. It's crucial that we sign another striker too because we have Stead - you know what you get with him, Mcleod hit and miss, Gibson is a wildcard he could be great or he could be awful, Campbell/Snijders are wingers for me rather than strikers. So a striker who gives us something different would be ideal. Is that positivity creeping into Meadow Lane again?

Agree with @TheFostarr94 , hopefully a start to the rebuilding, one addition at the back definitely not enough think the manager will bring more in for sure , hope we get Dickinson a solid start for me .we need some pace up top in my opinion.

I think we might get a new number 1 goalie. Loach is good but at time gets in a flap, I've heard from someone (who admittedly heard from someone else who heard from someone else who was told by someone else) a rumour we are after Tommy Lee from Chesterfield. If we pull that off, it would look like we are gunning for promotion big time

I like Loach and I rate him but with an inconsistent defence - he's not the answer for us.

If we are aiming for promotion, I hope that the rumoured keeper is one that can take Loach of his perch. It's all about confidence with Scott, we have seen him near to his best but also nearer to a low point where he scrambled and looked a little a mist in the regular starting position.

I still think we need a decent striker who can offer us pace, perhaps not as a regular goal scorer but someone who performs well and can chip in with them.

Luke Rodgers style of a striker (without being caught off side).

i hope the players that come in are of real quality and can strengthen the side further.

we have 15 players at the club remaining right? what positions do we need other than gk, cb and mid? i agree on the striker front, we need someone who can help create goals. i think we still need a good winger, along with a defensive midfielder. the rest of the positions are fairly obvious and a case of doubling up the lack of contest.

I thought we had about 23 players including the youth players aswell as Atkinson and Hollis ?

We are apparently interest in striker Jordan Bowery!

He played for oxford last year scoring 7 in 17. He has played in the championship(?) With Rotherham and has also spent time with Aston Villa!

He is from Nottingham and spent 4 years at Chesterfield playing over 80 games, and he was at Chesterfield at the same time as Sheridan!

http://m.nottinghampost.com/Notts-County-believed-chasing-Aston-Villa-striker/story-29376371-detail/story.html

He doesn't seem like a prolific scorer but he is 24 so is getting into his prime, 7 in 17 isn't too shabby! What do you think about Bowery ? Would you take him at notts ?

Posted

Had a look at his details on Transfermarkt, not shabby at all! He's played in the Championship 43 times and has even made 19 appearances for Villa in the Premier League, although as a sub. As for his goalscoring record, many of his appearances have been brief ones as a substitute, so you've got to take that into account. At Oxford he averaged a goal every 126 minutes, and the previous season at Rotherham (in the Championship) he averaged a goal every 191 minutes. That's not bad at all. I'm not surprised a number of clubs are interested, but hopefully JS can swing the decision in our favour.

What did you think of him, @BradtheMiller?

Posted

@ohstanleyaborah he's not too bad in this league, worth a risk, 9 starts 8 subs 7 goals at Oxford last season..

This is a good website, breaks down appearances from starts to subs, gives you a better break down of players stats 😉

There's also a lot of talk on twitter that we are interested in Caolan Lavery who is currently at Sheffield Wednesday but played for Portsmouth at the end of last season

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caolan_Lavery

He is 1 of 3 high profile strikers we have been linked with, Reuben Reid and Bowery being the other two!

@DangerousSausage  great homework,  not at all shabby going by your research, any of those 3 mentioned by @ohstanleyaborah would be a good addition,  its going  to get interesting in the weeks ahead seeing all the rumours kind of wets the appetite to see who we get in . COYP

Jordan Bowery is 6ft odd I belive has abit of pace quite powerful good in the air.

Hed be better then both stead and mcleod for me stead shouldn't start every game next year otherwise it's bad recruitment.

Hes going to be 34 he has no touch no pace can't hold the ball up.

For me we need Bowery and if the talk of Rubén Reid is true I'd happily take him anyday or colon lavery but I belive Portsmouth would want him aswell.

As for wingers I'd realese Campbell de silva Burke maybe valencic as he didn't do enough for me.

And if the talk of Curtis main who Sheridan wanted at Oldham but they wouldn't offer him the funds is true I'd take him aswell now he's on a free.

But for me a solid 2 centre backs will do

And Michael oconner an abroah in the middle wouldn't be bad is also let amervor leave and a few others

I think 2 things are in our favour one he's worked with Sheridan at Chesterfield already

2 He's from Notts and apparently loves it there so I think there 2 big factors alone.

Also Rubén Reid worked under Sheridan got the best out of him when they got to the play offs who knows who we will get

Bit of an enigma is Mr Bowery. Undoubted ability but IMO his attitude is sometime open to question. Certainly better than L2 quality & I'm surprised Oxford released him seeing how well he did there.

cancel caolan lavery off the list apparently Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed they have offers him a new contract so

Yes, but he hasn't signed it yet as he is keeping his options open.

I bet he will give Notts the runs all game, or will he just bum around?

I'm inclined to agree, but I think he will definitely be leaving The Wednesday and he has also played for Sheridan before, which is probably where the link is from.

maybe but he's played for Chesterfield under cook also Pompey under cook and also  they have a bigger budget not to mention.

If Wednesday have offerd him a good amount of cash an so on I reckon he could stay.

Id happily take Reid tho who is out of contract at Plymouth and was out of favour last season better options then both stead and mcleod in this division or above

It does seem John Sheridan is the type of manager who attracts players he's worked with already, this could be a good coup for Notts - if he can pull some good signings, it will go a long way towards me warming to him (not that I dislike him).

apparently we're now Consdering a move for ex Rotherham goalie Adam Colin who was there when they got promoted to championship and did good for them.

Also been at Aberdeen 6ft4 I belive or 6ft5

Adam Collin would be a fantastic aquisition for Notts. Adam was the single biggest reason we are playing in the Championship having saved two Orient penalties in the 2014 L1 play off final. Massive imposing prescence, great shot stopper, lost a bit of confidence with us, got dropped & was never heard of again. TBH Adam was treated abysmally by RUFC. If you sign him, believe me, he will be the free transfer of the season!!

I like the sound of these players, but we might be linked to them purely because they played for Sheridan in the past. Whether they'll actually join us is another story. Would be nice though!
