Bury have made Tom Pope available for loan or free transfer, what would you think of us signing him? He was on the up a couple of years ago but hasn't hit the ground running at Bury

Personally I think we need to offload Idle before he misses another penalty. I have high hopes for Gibson and maybe Mellors Blair, if he can prove worthy of a contract.

But izale scored against Ilkeston!

Wow! So that justifies his 100k+ price tag. I was there at Dagenham when he wrenched the ball from Noble and then missed. Tell me how many goals away from Meadow Lane did Idle score last season?

The fact he wants to score is a good thing. I doubt you were there on Tuesday, if you were, you'd notice he was all over the pitch trying to make an impact as a lone striker, he was chasing back, taking throwing both sides of the pitch and was very unlucky not to score twice. But yeah, let's get rid of him because a well struck penalty hit the underside of the bar and came down on the wrong side of the line... I despair at Notts fans these days, why do we have to have a scape goat? Can't we just back every player to the last? And if we do have a scape goat, let's be consistent, before we talk misses pens, why not talk about Stead's ball control?

I have to agree, as notts players they deserve our support but last year izales attitude lost him alot of the support he had, if he plays like you said he did on Tuesday then id happily keep him because he can score goals, now steads ball control is really poor, but most players at this level will have a weak area

Sounds very interesting, he's already been a prolific scorer at our level and at 30 he should still be at his peak. Plus we already have a number of his former teammates from Port Vale on board. A bit of competition for places up front won't do any harm.

Why would a striker be taking throws? Doesn't Izzy know how to delegate? Most fans have an issue with Izzy's attitude more than anything else. He's easily discouraged. Not the kind of fellow you'd like to have next to you in the trenches so to speak.

What I'm saying is that fans called his commitment, if he's showing commitment to speed the game up in a friendly, that bows well for the season ahead that he's motivated. I'd hate to play for Notts, we don't have supporters, we have haranguers

Notts fans are no more demanding than other supporters. There is a belief that the club should be doing better and it's a solid argument to make. That leads to frustration when things aren't going to plan. In fairness Notts fans have had to put up with a lot over the past few years and most put up with it in a dignified manner. There are the odd few who don't but they are a minority.

Apparently Owen Archdeacon is joining the coaching staff too. A real disciplinarian who will get everyone singing off the same hymnsheet.

Took me a while to get it, well done!

Please, please let this one be true.

What right do you have to tell me I'm wrong?  You're not my Granddaughter.

I'd keep Izale personally a fresh start better players in key area's in position a manager and coaches who know what they are doing , got to be better this time round for the team as a unit , individually they will benefit I'm confident of that , get Bish back if it's a real possibility , COYP

Wasn't Tom a target a few season back which emerged he didn't have interest in joining us? I think this was before he joined Port Vale.

He's a tad bit overrated as player for me, yet good in this division and the one above. He can score, works hard (so the boxes are ticked). I just feel if we do sign him, people will do the Danny Haynes attitude. Now I was told we have been linked with another striker, Simon Church but I can't see where its been mentioned here.

A field where dreams become reality.

I seem to recall that Port Vale were having financial problems and that he along with other players were asked to voluntarily reduce their contracts. I believe Tom Pope refused ( stands to be corrected on this point)..
