Malcolm Melvin (Six Month Deal)

I'm quite encouraged by this signing, he looks very keen. I can't comment about the type of player he is, although a Villa friend said he was disappointed with them allowing him to leave (especially since he felt clubs would have paid for him). I guess it's easier for Villa to release, than to keep players on whilst looking to sell.

I wrote a short write up about it (please help share it)

A couple like this, then some key players around. Under the guidance of Chris and Mick, well I don't see this being a bad thing.

6 months will be a good enough length to see what he has to offer.

I know not all will be excited or keen on this, although It's been received quite well and we need to replicate what Walsall and Yeovil have been doing. If we can, we might be able to develop a strong squad, based on promise.

Sounds like a younger, fitter version of Neal Bishop to be honest. 6 month deal is perfect for him. He's obviously not a marquee signing but people are saying good things about him, hopefully he can prove himself.

Just one thing, how many 18 year olds have you met called Malcolm!? :P

Notts have nothing to lose here and everything to gain. The lad has been rejected by Villa so will be extra keen to impress.Dropping down to a lower league, with lower expectations, may be just the thing to help him. It's now up to him and the Notts staff to try and make the move work..I sincerely hope things work out well for all concerned.

Another promising youngster and I agree with Super Ram we've nothing to lose, he comes highly recommended and in six months if things work out he can earn himself a better deal.

It will be good to have young, keen youngsters in the squad but as Alan Hansen keeps saying you can't rely on youth, we need more experienced players alongside the young lads, hopefully those sort of signings will be just round the corner.
