Can't believe it's been a whole six years since that titanic encounter at the City Ground between Nottingham Forest and Notts County. Honestly remember it as if it were yesterday.

One of those games where, even in defeat, you can't help but applaud your team. Very much like last night against Scunthorpe, to be fair, but the added element of the local rivalry just made it so much more intense.

Here are the highlights of that game.

That was one of my all-time favourite matches and it felt very much like a moral victory. I certainly wouldn't call it a defeat as F*rest only progressed on penalties and were very lucky to get that far. It had everything a football match should have.

Unfortunately Lee Hughes missed what would have been the decisive penalty. In Paul Mace's book Martin Allen explains that his main regret about that day was not getting Stuart Nelson to take that penalty instead, as he had been the best penalty taker in training. After the match I actually didn't feel too devastated as a trip to Shrewsbury was up for grabs and they'd have probably beaten us anyway. I was just proud of the excellent display we put on against a rival that had seemed impossibly far ahead of us for years.

Yeah I was lucky to be at that game - hadn't even got home, I just went straight from work in shirt and trousers! I remember as well there was talk of possibly postponing the game due to it being deemed a flashpoint (local rivalry and all that) while the "riots" were going on in the country, the tannoy announcer basically said "f**k the rioters and the looters, the show must go on!". And it certainly did.

It was a good game, Notts should have won the match but failed to safe guard the lead when it mattered. No disappointment because the players tried and played well.

I still recall this game like it was yesterday, it's hard to imagine it took place 7 years ago now.

I took @super_pie to the game, some fans seemed to question if the game would go ahead due to the riots that was happening. I left hours early just in case we encountered any issues or delays, we ended up going to a nearby park for several hours and I took Jake to McDonald's before the game began. It was a great occasion, Jake loved it and I always felt Notts should have won myself.

No issues, no trouble - at least not at the game.

I saw the police station near Alfreton Road, is it on Derby Road? Get petrol bombed and we witnessed other nonsense but it didn't trouble us directly.

It's games like this one I miss the most about being away from the UK.

Good game and I thought Notts was going to earn bragging rights until West Morgan scored his screamer.
