Festival season is sadly over... have any of yous been to one this year? Or if you used to go in the past, what ones do you remember fondly (if you can remember anything that is... I know I struggle sometimes haha)

I used to go to the Monsters of Rock days at Donington, but not gone to any in years now. Saw some of the most iconic hard rock / metal bands there. Never bothered with Download, must be an age thing!

Not been to Download (not sure I could hack a whole 3-4 days of metal, I can just about get through one gig nowadays) but the main bands tend to be recycled year on year. The likes of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Aerosmith still find themselves headlining. Legends, but at the same time kind of shows rock and metal are stagnant at the minute if no newish bands can bag a headline slot.

That said, I was looking back at some old line-ups and the Prodigy played I think in 2011. Now THAT is a band I'd pay big money to see. I saw a Prodigy tribute band at Glastonbudget this year and it was INSANE.

not been to any, its not my thing.

I stayed well clear of them until age 27, then got into them massively (got lucky with weather, that's the main thing), then I experienced a particularly bad one in terms of event planning, horrible weather, loud camping neighbours who were off their bean on drugs etc so I'm more selective now. Definitely not a fan of the camping side of it.

To be honest I've always been put off by the tales of people urinating on tents etc. I wouldn't mind trying Wacken one day, but it's a long way away.

I'm into medieval festivals in quite a big way now, there's nothing else quite like them Although many are just a market with a couple of pretend sword fights and a band tacked on, the MPS Spectaculum that tours Germany (nearest to me is Speyer) has lots of well-known bands from the scene and is really quite special. Some people camp there and pretend to be medieval peasants for a weekend, but most just go for the day.
