21/22 notts county captain debate

i know some will say that we dont know who will sign yet at this stage, but i would rather give the captaincy to a player that is already here and understands what the club is about.

main contenders in my eyes are:

sam slocombe
connell rawlinson
jim o brien (will he feature more if he signs a new deal and doyle takes a back seat)
richard brindley
kyle wootton

i think the obvious candidates are the two at the top, i can see it being given to rawlinson but i would choose slocombe myself. i know some are not a fan of a keeper having the armband but i think hes one of those players that could get the most of everyone else, including the defence.

i thought about adding alex lacey @allardyces tash but i felt he needed to play a bit more. he was out a lot last season, he needs to focus on playing in this campaign without adding responsibility or pressure.

I think Sam Slocombe is the better of the likely names, he has experience with leading by example and will be starting every game unless injured.

This is why I feel it's a shame Jake Reeves left, as he would've been my choice!

As much, as I love Kyle Wootton he's not the right person just yet for the role. Richard Brindley if he could establish himself as the starting wing back or defender could be a good call, yet I think he might go missing at times which does happen.

I'm not a fan of keepers having the arm band, but I do feel Sam Slocombe would do well in the role.

I'd give it Jim O'Brien, he proved when he came back into the squad that he still has something to offer and he's the type of player who will try to pick players up in the right way. He won't get in anyone's face, he seems to be the fired up type of person to spark that amber of passion that can win games.

However, I think the safe bet is Connell Rawlinson even though I don't quite see him as being as good as JOB would be.

A field where dreams become reality.

Connell Rawlinson would thrive as the captain, I am sure he can handle the pressure and responsibility.

Rawlinson. All the way. Now IB has come out and confirmed he will be in the centre of the 3, he’s a guaranteed starter. Totally lost at either side, but in the middle, much better.

Hes been around a bit, happy to keep the momentum going throughout the game.
