  1. That's about as good as it gets. Langstaff off to a flyer. Clean sheet. Maidenhead are poor and will do well to avoid relegation.
  2. Maidenhead at home is the ideal opportunity to start the season with 3 points and I think we will. A long season starts here and hopefully we have many many highs and very few lows.
  3. Sheffield Utd 2-1 Millwall Stoke 2-1 Blackpool Charlton 1-2 Derby Portsmouth 2-0 Lincoln (Joker) Barrow 1-1 Bradford Crewe 2-1 Harrogate Torquay 2-1 Oldham York 1-2 Woking
  4. I was there. I said to my friend before the corner leading to the goal that England were going to score. Germany weren't marking properly. They were tired. England deserved to win it.
  5. I think Notts will finish in a playoff place at the very least. I'm more optimistic about this season than last season. I think it will all come together and we will finally get out of this league.
  6. Luton 2-1 Birmingham Rotherham 1-2 Swansea Ipswich 2-1 Bolton (Joker) Plymouth 2-1 Barnsley Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 Portsmouth Leyton Orient 2-1 Grimsby Salford 2-2 Mansfield Walsall 1-1 Hartlepool
  7. I have a title to defend so I'm in. Did I mention I have a title to defend?
  8. Maidenhead at home is one of the easiest fixtures IMO. The rest of August is quite tricky. Boreham Wood away is always difficult. Gateshead away won't be easy. They'll be well up for that game. Chesterfield at home, Halifax away and Solihull at home are tough. We visit Dorking Wanderers in September. That will be a cup final for them! Oldham at home on Boxing Day and away on New Year's Day. I personally love that. 2 big clubs going head to head. We finish with a home game against York. Hopefully we'll be celebrating promotion!
  9. Andy Goram was an incredible keeper. He'll forever be associated with Rangers and rightly so given the success he had there. Andy loved the Old Firm games. He won a few of those single handily. He was in goal when Rangers beat Leeds in the Battle Of Britain in the Champions League. Rangers came very close to making the final that season. His nickname of The Goalie was perfect. R.I.P.
  10. Mooney is a fine addition. 12 goals in 36 games is pretty decent for a midfielder. He was named young player of the year in the NL for this season if I'm not mistaken. Southend are not as well run as Notts, there is no disputing that, but they are trying to put things right on and off the pitch. Mooney is a good place to start.
  11. Grimsby have had more of the ball in the first but didn't do much with it. Notts looked dangerous on the break. Notts have upped their tempo in the 2nd half and are putting Grimsby under slightly more pressure. Cal going off injured is a huge blow.
  12. It's not going to be a repeat of the last game. Notts will have learned from their mistakes in that game. You can't allow Grimsby to dictate the play. You have to close them down and force them into errors. Notts are more than capable of doing that. It might take 120 minutes but I feel Notts will prevail.
  13. The playoffs take on a life of their own in L1 & L2. Most teams are more concerned about not losing than actually trying to go and win games. They get the ball forward as quickly as possible and hope to force a mistake. It's not great to watch. I think Sunderland will try to play their way through Wycombe. Wycombe are more than likely to go direct, but they could do the opposite to catch Sunderland out. Mansfield are resilient. They are very hard to beat. I wouldn't like to play them at Wembley. They will grind Port Vale or Swindon down. I think Mansfield will go up.
  14. That's a pity. I thought Leigh did a good job. I understand why Leigh couldn't turn down the opportunity. It's career progression.
  15. So the first round of the playoffs are: Notts County vs Grimsby Town FC Halifax vs Chesterfield The NL will be delighted with Notts vs Grimsby. The attendance should be over 10K. Halifax could be a sell out as Chesterfield don't have far to travel. These could be the best playoffs in NL history. You have 4 decent sides in the first round. Any of those 4 are capable of winning promotion if things go their way. Then you have Wrexham and Solihull waiting in the wings. Obviously we hope Notts go up but I'd hate to be the one trying to predict the winners of these playoffs.
  16. Stockport got the job done with a minimum of fuss. Wrexham lost at Dagenham. Stockport deserved to win the league. They were the best team in the league.
  17. Stockport beat Torquay 1-0 last night. A gutsy win at this point of the season. They have gone 3 points clear at the top. They need a point at home to Halifax to seal the deal. Wrexham need to win and hope Stockport lose. They would go up on goal difference. I hope it is a final day full of drama. Except for Notts, I want that game to be over after 10 mins so I can focus on the title race
  18. Arbroath are a fantastic story. I keep an eye on Scottish football and I thought they'd fade away but no, they have kept going. They were unlucky not to go up automatically. They are up against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the semi final. The winners will most likely play St. Johnstone for a place in the Premiership. It would be one of the greatest achievements in British football if Arbroath make it to the Premiership.
  19. Jorge would be a decent addition. He'd be one of the best players in the NL or L2. I think he'll have a few offers from L1 clubs. I wouldn't be surprised to see him return to Lincoln.
  20. In summary, Bristol Rovers needed to beat Scunthorpe by 7 goals to clinch promotion on Saturday. They won 7-0 and pipped Northampton on goals scored. Northampton have to settle for a playoff place. This is where it gets interesting. In January, Ryan Loft moved from Scunthorpe to Bristol Rovers for an undisclosed fee. Loft didn't play against Scunthorpe. He was an unused sub. It's being reported that as part of the deal, Scunthorpe would get an extra 50K if Bristol Rovers achieved promotion. Scunthorpe have been awful all season, but last Saturday they were absolutely awful. They rolled over and played dead. The circumstances around the game will certainly raise questions about why Keith Hill felt he shouldn't play his strongest side.
  21. Well Wrexham made it interesting with their 3-0 win over Stockport yesterday. They are now top on goal difference but Stockport have a game in hand. That game is against Torquay at home next Wednesday. No matter what happens in that game, the title race will go down to the last game of the season. Wrexham are at Dagenham. Dagenham could snatch the final playoff place from a reeling Chesterfield. Stockport are home to Halifax. Halifax are guaranteed a home semi final. Will they rest players for that or will they play their first team? That's the big question. I'm looking forward to this. Squeaky bum time. Love it.
  22. I couldn't let a Mansfield fan win it @Dan and @super_ram did brilliant. It was a great competition. I'll do my best in the Champions League
  23. AFC Bournemouth v Millwall 2-1 Sheffield United v Fulham 2-1 Exeter City v Port Vale 2-1 Leyton Orient v Tranmere Rovers 2-3 Mansfield Town v Forest Green Rovers 2-1 Solihull Moors v Dagenham & Redbridge 2-1 (Joker) Wealdstone v King’s Lynn 1-1 Yeovil Town v Boreham Wood 1-2 P.S. Squeaky Bum Time just went into overdrive........
