  1. The club’s latest signing highlights their keen eye for spotting talent and acting swiftly to secure promising players, even if it involves a fee. While the exact amount we’ve paid remains unknown, I’m confident that investing in Alex Bass will prove to be money well spent. Alex Bass appears to be the epitome of professionalism, and I’m truly excited to see him guard our goal at Meadow Lane. His presence is sure to bring a new level of security to our team’s defence.
  2. Alex Bass is a brilliant signing for us. His experience and success with AFC Wimbledon last season show that he’s more than capable of delivering top performances. Keeping 16 clean sheets in one season is no mean feat, and his ability to command the box will be a great addition to our defensive line-up. He’s also known for being good with the ball at his feet, which fits perfectly with our playing style. Absolutely thrilled to see what he can bring to Meadow Lane!
  3. What happens if the hand contact is accidental? Will VAR be used to determine if there was an unnatural movement that constitutes handball? If the system works efficiently and the referee makes the final call, that seems fair. However, if the game is delayed because a chip detects an accidental handball, it could lead to more problems.
  4. He’s a talented player, and there’s no reason he couldn’t advance and eventually become an excellent asset for a football league team. He’s always had potential; it’s just that we outgrew his abilities at the time, and he needed to play regularly. It will be interesting to see how things unfold. I could easily envision Ed Francis fitting in with a League One team, where he’d likely get more time with the ball.
  5. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @Stephen May. Plenty of topics to join in or read, see you around the site.
  6. He was quite vocal in support of Forest and remained loyal during their drop to the old First Division. A very capable striker with a quick turn of speed. Despite being a Premier League player, he often went unnoticed when compared to the likes of Robbie Fowler, Dion Dublin, Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, and others. Rest in Peace, Kevin Campbell.
  7. Such tragic news, he still had plenty of years ahead of him. Rest in Peace...
  8. Jacob Bedeau appears to be a solid acquisition from a competing club that didn’t perform as well as us last season. This is how Notts traditionally assembled a team, by recruiting players from underperforming teams who possess potential. Bedeau seems to be a very serious individual. If his photos are any indication, I hope he brings that intensity to his game. It could mean that we have a highly focused defender who is all about the game.
  9. I hope that long-standing fans will make it abundantly clear to those at Notts that we are a family club. The Danish brothers might propel us to the Premier League, and I don’t think they would alter much. However, my greatest worry is seeing the club succumb to a scheme similar to Munto’s, but with real money. This could lead to the purchase of artificial fans and the loss of our current identity, which we take great pride in. It would be fantastic to see Notts County in the Premier League. I agree with the sentiment that players should be role models, and I hope this wouldn’t change. The higher the standard of play we can enjoy, the happier we will be. However, this must be achieved while upholding our principles.
  10. This view may not be widely held, but Gareth Southgate’s name deserves to be brought up. He has performed exceptionally well with England. His accomplishments with both the senior team and the under 21s are nothing short of extraordinary, and he has rekindled the faith of English fans in the squad. There’s no denying that we have a strong team. However, reaching the semi-final and then the final of two competitions indicates that there’s something unique about him. It’s clear that Gareth Southgate has a special quality.
  11. The ability to excel in multiple roles is a testament to the skills and mindset of a player like Sam Austin. His grasp of the game and readiness to adjust for the good of the team are precisely what’s needed in this vital playoff chase. His professional attitude, coupled with his appreciation for the fans, truly sets him apart. In a sport where personal achievements often eclipse team efforts, Austin’s team-centric approach is a breath of fresh air.
  12. Amid concerns about physical and mental fatigue due to the packed schedule, Maynard’s focus on maintaining confidence within the squad is critical. His strategic emphasis on preparation, adaptability, and resilience underlines a comprehensive plan to tackle the forthcoming challenges. This kind of forward-thinking will undoubtedly rally the fans and players alike.
  13. Will they give the go-ahead to Great Uncle Bulgaria? Tomsk could be a problem if given the opportunity. ???? AFC Wimbledon will be aiming to pull off the achievable against us. After the losses to Sutton United, we need to put in more effort to finish games and ensure we’re not losing points. I’m certain the fans present just want to see that fighting spirit, along with better performances. I’m not sure where the goals will land, but it should be a good, open match and one that Notts should be able to compete in properly.
  14. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @ShannockPie. We're all glad to see that you have joined us.
  15. His journey at Notts shows his resilience and adaptability. Coming from a challenging situation at Fleetwood Town, his transition into a crucial midfield role amidst managerial upheavals speaks volumes about his character and determination. His optimism and commitment to the team's approach, despite its challenges, could inspire any teammate or fan. It’s players like Scott Robertson who embody the spirit of the game, proving that with dedication and consistency, any obstacle can be turned into a stepping stone for success.
  16. The article presents a balanced view on loan players, but I lean towards seeing more homegrown talents on the pitch. The success stories of loan players are tempting, but nothing beats seeing a young player from our academy breaking into the first team and staying there. It's about building a legacy and identity for Notts County, something that constantly rotating loan players can't provide. We need a long-term vision.
  17. Maynard's emphasis on the defensive aspect of the game and the squad's quick adaptation to tactical instructions is particularly encouraging. It shows a level of depth in the team's playstyle that could be vital in the league's long run. The confidence he expresses in handling pressure and focusing on positives is exactly what the fans and players need to hear. Looking ahead, the match against Crewe presents a significant challenge, but Maynard's tactical acknowledgment and optimism are infectious. Really looking forward to seeing how the team translates this preparation into performance on the pitch.
  18. The match against Wrexham was commendable, particularly considering it was an away game. I’m hopeful that we’ll display the same level of urgency in our upcoming matches, but with a sharper focus on goal-scoring. We need to create solid opportunities and put the Crewe goalkeeper under pressure to prevent us from scoring. On the defensive front, I believe we’ve made significant strides towards improving our concentration. I anticipate the game against Crewe to be fairly balanced.
  19. Notts must put in the effort and utilise their possession effectively. I don’t want us to depend solely on wide creativity. I’d like to see Notts exploit the space and perhaps take a few shots at goal when the chance arises. At times, players have ample space to attempt a goal, but choose to keep passing. We need to show more courage against Newport. Now is the time to secure a win, even if it means playing less attractively or not as well.
  20. @Nay123 I understand your point, but Gillingham isn’t Mansfield. Mansfield would be much more motivated for the match due to the rivalry between our clubs. Mansfield have been commendable for most of the season and have managed their setbacks well, Gillingham is a completely different case.
  21. It’s an opportune moment to face Gillingham, they’re not performing as well as they might. They’ve invested significantly in their team but are falling behind in the playoff race. Two 1-1 draws with Walsall and Forest Green and a 2-1 loss to MK Dons. This indicates to me that they’re having trouble creating scoring opportunities but have a solid defence that keeps them competitive. It gives me more hope that Notts can secure a victory, we need to strive for that regardless, as I say we’re in need of a positive result and there’s no better time to play them.
  22. The way Maynard guided Wealdstone to their highest position in years proves he's a man who can inspire and achieve. With our history and his ethos, this feels like a new chapter for the Magpies. His long-term contract is a bold statement and, frankly, it’s refreshing to see the club backing a coach with such confidence. Here's to success under Stuart's command.
  23. The match began promisingly, but Barrow seemed to have the upper hand. Their missed open goal was a shocker - I reckon my moustache could’ve scored that! Thankfully, Stone did his utmost and the defence stepped up to protect him. It felt like a typical Luke Williams game, but Stuart Maynard deserves credit for his changes that shifted the game’s balance. This put Notts on the offensive, but we needed a touch of magic to score. I think we missed Matt Palmer’s efforts to mix things up by working with Dan Crowley to play through a central position. I’m not yet sold on Scott Robertson - it’s early days, but he lost the ball in areas where we couldn’t afford it. This also happened to John Bostock, leading to their opening goal. At times, Notts’ play left us wondering what on earth we were trying to do. It was a decent effort, not the best performance, but far from the worst. The players had the opportunity to kick off Maynard’s reign on a high note but fell well short of our expected standard of play.
  24. Craig Heiden’s updates are always insightful. To see Junior Morias and Will Randle back at full training is a huge relief and could not come at a better time. Really shows the quality and resilience of our squad. It's these small victories off the field that contribute to our spirit and performance on it! Also, hats off to the medical staff for their stellar work, they’re the unsung heroes in sport!
  25. It’s commendable that Notts doesn’t just thrust the young ones into the fray, but I do think we should start giving some of them more playtime when the opportunity arises. If we’re controlling a home game and are comfortable, why not bring one or two on as time winds down? I’d be thrilled to see more of Jason Sanderson.
