  1. I thoroughly enjoyed the game. It was closely contested, and either team had a chance to emerge victorious. Scotland and Switzerland both had fortunate moments, and there were some lucky escapes. The Swiss, in particular, might have felt a bit unlucky. Overall, it was an entertaining match between two evenly matched teams.
  2. I’m delighted to welcome Nick Tsaroulla to our team. His journey with Crawley Town was phenomenal, especially his stunning goal against Leeds. It shows his capability to perform under pressure. I believe his skills in both attacking and defensive phases will provide our squad with the versatility we need. His experience in League Two brings added depth, and it's clear he’s a player who can make a significant impact. Truly excited to see how he fits into our squad.
  3. I think Alex Bass is going to be a fantastic addition to the Notts County squad. His comments about his previous season and how he missed out on personal accolades despite his strong performance show he’s determined to achieve more. I’m confident his experience and positive attitude will be crucial for the upcoming season. It's also refreshing to hear about his eagerness to settle down in Nottingham and get straight to business. This could be a turning point for our defence and really push us towards promotion.
  4. The club’s latest signing highlights their keen eye for spotting talent and acting swiftly to secure promising players, even if it involves a fee. While the exact amount we’ve paid remains unknown, I’m confident that investing in Alex Bass will prove to be money well spent. Alex Bass appears to be the epitome of professionalism, and I’m truly excited to see him guard our goal at Meadow Lane. His presence is sure to bring a new level of security to our team’s defence.
  5. Alex Bass is a brilliant signing for us. His experience and success with AFC Wimbledon last season show that he’s more than capable of delivering top performances. Keeping 16 clean sheets in one season is no mean feat, and his ability to command the box will be a great addition to our defensive line-up. He’s also known for being good with the ball at his feet, which fits perfectly with our playing style. Absolutely thrilled to see what he can bring to Meadow Lane!
  6. What happens if the hand contact is accidental? Will VAR be used to determine if there was an unnatural movement that constitutes handball? If the system works efficiently and the referee makes the final call, that seems fair. However, if the game is delayed because a chip detects an accidental handball, it could lead to more problems.
  7. He’s a talented player, and there’s no reason he couldn’t advance and eventually become an excellent asset for a football league team. He’s always had potential; it’s just that we outgrew his abilities at the time, and he needed to play regularly. It will be interesting to see how things unfold. I could easily envision Ed Francis fitting in with a League One team, where he’d likely get more time with the ball.
  8. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @Stephen May. Plenty of topics to join in or read, see you around the site.
  9. He was quite vocal in support of Forest and remained loyal during their drop to the old First Division. A very capable striker with a quick turn of speed. Despite being a Premier League player, he often went unnoticed when compared to the likes of Robbie Fowler, Dion Dublin, Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, and others. Rest in Peace, Kevin Campbell.
  10. Such tragic news, he still had plenty of years ahead of him. Rest in Peace...
  11. Jacob Bedeau appears to be a solid acquisition from a competing club that didn’t perform as well as us last season. This is how Notts traditionally assembled a team, by recruiting players from underperforming teams who possess potential. Bedeau seems to be a very serious individual. If his photos are any indication, I hope he brings that intensity to his game. It could mean that we have a highly focused defender who is all about the game.
  12. I hope that long-standing fans will make it abundantly clear to those at Notts that we are a family club. The Danish brothers might propel us to the Premier League, and I don’t think they would alter much. However, my greatest worry is seeing the club succumb to a scheme similar to Munto’s, but with real money. This could lead to the purchase of artificial fans and the loss of our current identity, which we take great pride in. It would be fantastic to see Notts County in the Premier League. I agree with the sentiment that players should be role models, and I hope this wouldn’t change. The higher the standard of play we can enjoy, the happier we will be. However, this must be achieved while upholding our principles.
  13. This view may not be widely held, but Gareth Southgate’s name deserves to be brought up. He has performed exceptionally well with England. His accomplishments with both the senior team and the under 21s are nothing short of extraordinary, and he has rekindled the faith of English fans in the squad. There’s no denying that we have a strong team. However, reaching the semi-final and then the final of two competitions indicates that there’s something unique about him. It’s clear that Gareth Southgate has a special quality.
  14. This discussion certainly provides a fresh perspective, and @ARLukomski’s post is both excellent and detailed. For what it’s worth, I agree that the contracts given at the start of the season made sense. In a different scenario, some of these players would be proving that it was a smart decision. Unfortunately, this season has fallen apart, leaving many questions unanswered. I don’t think we have a bad squad. It’s our game management and lack of focus that let us down. It’s not fair to blame Stuart Maynard for all of this. These issues existed before, but I wouldn’t single out recruitment, although it could have been better. These things are always easier to understand in hindsight than to predict at the outset. If Matt Palmer hadn’t been injured, we might have shown more grit in midfield. His calm influence and eagerness to move the ball forward are greatly missed, as is his knack for quietly winning the ball back. There aren’t many players in our current starting lineup who press enough to win the ball. We must learn and adapt from this season if we are to become stronger.
  15. I would always urge people to sign up and participate. If you appreciate thoughtful debates and a platform that doesn’t permit unwarranted behaviour, then this is an excellent site. Regrettably, I’m not active on Twitter. I merely read it, and even then, the restrictions make it challenging. I won’t set up an account just to read people’s opinions.
  16. Just saw the update about @Piethagoram and I couldn't just scroll by without leaving a word of encouragement. It's a tough journey, but you're not alone. This forum, although virtual, has a real sense of camaraderie and affection. Pulling for you, mate. Looking forward to your comeback, stronger and healthier!
  17. It’s an interesting idea, and it’s good to see Notts trying new things. It’s a bit of a distraction from the team’s current form, but it could be positive in the long run. Maybe Les could start a dating event at the club too? ???? What’s coming up next, a Notts County singles club? The Lonely Magpies Heart Club? ????
  18. The club can’t just ban everyone for having a negative or silly opinion. Every club has such fans, and we do live in a free country after all. It’s not like the club rules over us; it’s the other way around. Sure, there might be a few who deserve a ban and maybe should be made to watch Nottingham Forest instead, but those people aren’t Leigh Curtis. And no one at the club is going to pull a Ray Trew and ban someone just for disagreeing with them. Those days are over! Can you imagine a more authoritarian move in football? Winning is crucial to change the mood, especially for Stuart Maynard. Some fans might need to manage their expectations, but winning games and maintaining a strong bond is key. The club hasn’t done enough to keep this connection alive. There’s plenty of talk at first, but then silence when problems arise. We don’t hear from the players after a loss, only when they win, which shows a lack of trust in the fans who want to hear from them. It’s a missed opportunity, in my opinion. It’s okay to protect the club’s image sometimes, but doing it all the time is not a good look.
  19. The ability to excel in multiple roles is a testament to the skills and mindset of a player like Sam Austin. His grasp of the game and readiness to adjust for the good of the team are precisely what’s needed in this vital playoff chase. His professional attitude, coupled with his appreciation for the fans, truly sets him apart. In a sport where personal achievements often eclipse team efforts, Austin’s team-centric approach is a breath of fresh air.
  20. I’m grateful for PON too, it’s usually my go-to when I see some of the brilliant content that’s shared on the site. It’s got me curious, my moustache is practically jumping off my face with excitement. Most of my online activity is reading the news, I don’t really participate in other discussion forums. I seldom use social media, I definitely don’t spend time on Twitter. So, what are some of your other favourite websites? I enjoy checking BBC News and Sports, CNET, Android Authority to name a few. How about you?
  21. Amid concerns about physical and mental fatigue due to the packed schedule, Maynard’s focus on maintaining confidence within the squad is critical. His strategic emphasis on preparation, adaptability, and resilience underlines a comprehensive plan to tackle the forthcoming challenges. This kind of forward-thinking will undoubtedly rally the fans and players alike.
  22. It seems like a sensible plan. With more gates and fans, it should help make other areas more suitable for catching up with friends without them being too crowded. I also agree with the remarks about ensuring the space can be used on non-match days, as this would make it more valuable.
  23. Will they give the go-ahead to Great Uncle Bulgaria? Tomsk could be a problem if given the opportunity. ???? AFC Wimbledon will be aiming to pull off the achievable against us. After the losses to Sutton United, we need to put in more effort to finish games and ensure we’re not losing points. I’m certain the fans present just want to see that fighting spirit, along with better performances. I’m not sure where the goals will land, but it should be a good, open match and one that Notts should be able to compete in properly.
  24. I can’t say I would have minded, I rarely use Facebook and it’s not a place where I would spend much time. I’ve seen many people complaining about problems just as much as on Twitter. Elon Musk might not be the only one spoiling what someone else created.
  25. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @ShannockPie. We're all glad to see that you have joined us.
