It’s great to see Lou Macari come to Nottingham and watch his grandson. I bet Louis Macari is always happy to be watched. Following in his grandfather’s footsteps is special. Of all the players we’ve had, Louis looks like he could go quite far.

Families are often what get you into a club. Notts might not have been trendy when I was a boy, but I felt instantly connected to them as soon as I started going to games. The shirts from the late 70s and 80s were special. The shorts wouldn’t be acceptable now, but they were stylish back then. The players were iconic to a young person.

Yes, I know that. Squads were much smaller back then, so there was no need for substitutes. Players usually played in multiple positions. I’ve been told all of this over the years. @Fan of Big Tone I thought that was Harry Enfield.

I think Dan Crowley has been excellent, so he’ll get my vote. However, it’s not as easy as the poll appears. Crowley has been the driving force behind our progress, so I hope he continues this form into next month.

I take things like this with a pinch of salt. I’d be surprised if Cedwyn Scott left this season. I think he still has a lot to prove. He’s a good player, but he needs to improve his form.

It should be a good game. Swindon have some excellent players, but it’s a good chance for Notts to move up the league. Early form is important, and Swindon will be difficult opposition. However, we have momentum right now and should continue from the Grimsby Town performance.

I hope he knew how much he meant to us Notts fans and the club. It's a shame we didn't invite him back. It would have been great to thank him. His arrival felt like when Tommy Lawton signed for Notts County. He left in a respectful way. Rest in peace, Sven.

@DangerousSausage I heard Lucas Ness is so elusive on the pitch that he could actually be the Loch Ness Monster in disguise. But I’d take that with a pinch of salt as nobody has ever been able to spot him either!

Where do I start to pay my respects to Sven-Göran Eriksson? His arrival was like Tommy Lawton coming to Meadow Lane in the 20th century. It caused a lot of excitement, with the media attention and the hope it gave our fans. It's sad that a con artist tricked him and our club. That single season was magical. The football and quality Notts showed on the pitch were amazing. We should remember Sven as the Director of Football. He embraced our club. His passing is very sad news. He was a brave person who helped many clubs. I hope Notts stands united with all those clubs.

He’s an integral part of the team, but this doesn’t mean we don’t need one more option upfront. I would give Cedwyn Scott a chance, allowing a different midfielder to play further up, maybe Curtis Edwards, or the club could bring someone in. Scott has goals in him if we play him in the right place. Yet, Alassana Jata has proven his worth with his early impact last season and his very good start to this campaign.

There is little room for errors in football. During the game, I thought the first two goals were perfectly fine. I do think Grimsby fans have a point about the offside, but I am still unsure about the handball. The camera angles don’t help, but it doesn’t confirm it for me. Notts played exceptionally well; this is the standard we need to set for ourselves. I don’t expect four goals in every game, but we need to be more clinical in finishing our chances. If a keeper does well, it’s easier to shrug off and explain. When you only get one shot on target, it doesn’t set the tone, even if it’s early. If Notts are to continue pushing for promotion, we will need consistency. It’s fine to perform this well when the Sky cameras are on, but we need to make sure we give a good account as often as possible. The football yesterday was pleasing and enjoyable to watch. Our players did well and deserve all the praise they are getting.

What a fantastic win for Notts! The early goal by Jatta really set the stage for a marvellous display of football. Dan Crowley was undoubtedly the man of the match with his brilliant goals. It was great to see the team capitalising on their opportunities and showing clinical finishing. Grimsby struggled to cope with our relentless pressure. Even after they managed to score, our defence held firm, showing great resilience. This match will certainly boost the team’s confidence. The fans at Meadow Lane must have been overjoyed with that performance. Keeping this momentum going will be crucial for future fixtures. Let’s hope for more victories like this.

Lucas Ness joining Notts is a big deal! A dynamic and versatile defender with loads of potential, he will undoubtedly add strength to our backline. His experience at Charlton Athletic, including 40 senior matches and Player of the Month accolades, demonstrates his quality. Moreover, his ability to play across the back three positions gives our team much-needed flexibility. It’s also great news that the club is giving him ample time to recover from his injury before expecting him to perform. Welcome, Lucas! Looking forward to a great season ahead.

Some of the challenges on Jodi Jones have been uncalled for. Tranmere and Fleetwood were going for him instead of the ball, and Jodi just got on with it. He seemed to struggle at times against Fleetwood due to the challenges on him. I noticed a lot of limping, but it was probably just a dead leg or something like that. I thought in the second half, Notts played some stunning football. Stuart Maynard is right; when we catch the issues early, we can work on them quicker.

I found Elliott’s and Neil’s views insightful. Elliott brings a youthful optimism to Grimsby Town’s strategy and early performance, while Neil offers a seasoned perspective on the team’s depth and potential weaknesses. Their analysis of standout players like McJannet, Khouri, and Davies was particularly enlightening. These fans clearly know their team well, and it’s great to see such engaged supporters.

Maynard's approach this season needs to be spot on. Emphasising the new pitch's benefits, especially in terms of ball speed, could be a game-changer for us. It’s clear the club is investing not just in players but in the infrastructure needed to get the most out of them. The partnership with the university for training facilities shows a long-term vision for the club, which is fantastic to see. The focus on turning Meadow Lane into a fortress is exactly what we need, and with the level of support from our fans, it’s definitely achievable. Fleetwood will be a tough challenge, but I believe the preparation and strategy in place will give us the edge.

If he carries on like this, he won’t win over the fans. However, it will prove that selling Aaron Nemane wasn’t a bad decision after all. Yes, I would have preferred to keep Nemane, but it’s not like the rumour about Dan Crowley, who we must keep. I think Conor Grant is an excellent young player. At 23, he has his best years ahead of him.

Good achievement. The club has done outstandingly well to sell so many tickets. I hope we get over 10,000 for our first home game. It should be a good crowd.

It’s a bit of a farce, and bringing attention to it will make it harder to stop. There’s no easy solution to getting rid of fake shirts on the internet, but clubs can advise fans and try to reason with people who buy fake shirts. It’s bad for football, but worse when clubs get involved.

I liked Fabian Speiss. I thought he had potential, and the timing would have worked if Notts had better defenders. The squad was okay, and I think we overachieved in the first season he featured. He did seem to struggle with confidence. He had good ability to react and save shots but lacked communication.

Stall will have experienced it first-hand from his playing days. I give the current squad some slack because I can see they are a good bunch and they care. Drawing against Shrewsbury wasn’t a bad result, and we can’t always expect to stay on top of a game. While the errors were disappointing, we took them to penalties. I feel sorry for the players who missed; it’s not like they did it on purpose.

A rollercoaster of emotions in that match! Notts started brilliantly, dominating the first half and taking an early lead. The turnaround in the second half was tough to watch, but credit to Shrewsbury for taking their chances. When Jatta scored to level it at 3-3, I thought we had it in the bag. Penalty shootouts are always a bit of a lottery, and unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side this time. Despite the defeat, there are many positives to take forward. Our attacking play was top-notch, and we created enough chances to win the game outright. Let’s regroup and focus on the league now.
