  1. I believe the next two games are crucial. We emphasised the importance of the five leading into Mansfield, but we've only gained 1 point out of a possible 9. Wrexham won't be easy, and while we could win against Crewe, that might only be 4 points. We need more than that, and it might be worthwhile for the club to acknowledge the situation. Taking some pressure off Stuart Maynard and accepting that reaching the playoffs might not happen at this stage could be beneficial. It's possible, but if that's the target, the pressure might create a hole that continues to affect Notts negatively.
  2. @Nay123 I understand your point, but Gillingham isn’t Mansfield. Mansfield would be much more motivated for the match due to the rivalry between our clubs. Mansfield have been commendable for most of the season and have managed their setbacks well, Gillingham is a completely different case.
  3. I’m unsure what to pen down, I believe the alterations are being introduced at a stage where it seems illogical to implement them. It appears to be something that would extend the reach and make it more challenging for the smaller clubs to prosper. I’m not in favour of the changes, if anything, they should be more stringent.
  4. Fantastic footage of a past era of Notts, splendid clips.
  5. Aurora Jellie is breathtaking! It’s an amazing photo that would make a vibrant desktop background.
  6. Hello, welcome to the Pride of Nottingham @Wheelbarrow repair man.
  7. It’s an opportune moment to face Gillingham, they’re not performing as well as they might. They’ve invested significantly in their team but are falling behind in the playoff race. Two 1-1 draws with Walsall and Forest Green and a 2-1 loss to MK Dons. This indicates to me that they’re having trouble creating scoring opportunities but have a solid defence that keeps them competitive. It gives me more hope that Notts can secure a victory, we need to strive for that regardless, as I say we’re in need of a positive result and there’s no better time to play them.
  8. Hello, welcome to the site @Mapperley Pie. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, how long have you be a supporter of the Pies?
  9. Hello, welcome to the site @Sophie d. You should find PON to be a very informative and engaging site.
  10. It begins to bother me when some supporters simply can’t appreciate the progress. This is our initial season back in the Football League, and some behave as if we’ve been here for the last five seasons with the largest budget in the league. It’s not something I wish to dwell on, which is why I value the website. When you chat with unfamiliar fans on match days, hardly anyone says anything even slightly negative. Why is it more prevalent online?
  11. Considering his age and where he’s come from on loan, it seems to me that he’s more of a backup than a starter. I’d prefer to give Scott Robertson more time to adjust, with Charlie Colkett stepping in when necessary. This could help him settle in, but if he’s really injury-prone, it would be worrying to use him as a substitute, especially if we’ve used up all our options. It’s not the most exciting signing, but he deserves a fair chance.
  12. The way Maynard guided Wealdstone to their highest position in years proves he's a man who can inspire and achieve. With our history and his ethos, this feels like a new chapter for the Magpies. His long-term contract is a bold statement and, frankly, it’s refreshing to see the club backing a coach with such confidence. Here's to success under Stuart's command.
  13. I believe it was definitely a red card. The Barrow player seemed intent on stopping Jodi Jones and did so in a very risky manner. Their fans who think it was a fair tackle wouldn’t feel the same if roles were reversed. Even if it was against Notts, I’d still say it was a red because it was a ridiculous attempt at defence.
  14. The match began promisingly, but Barrow seemed to have the upper hand. Their missed open goal was a shocker - I reckon my moustache could’ve scored that! Thankfully, Stone did his utmost and the defence stepped up to protect him. It felt like a typical Luke Williams game, but Stuart Maynard deserves credit for his changes that shifted the game’s balance. This put Notts on the offensive, but we needed a touch of magic to score. I think we missed Matt Palmer’s efforts to mix things up by working with Dan Crowley to play through a central position. I’m not yet sold on Scott Robertson - it’s early days, but he lost the ball in areas where we couldn’t afford it. This also happened to John Bostock, leading to their opening goal. At times, Notts’ play left us wondering what on earth we were trying to do. It was a decent effort, not the best performance, but far from the worst. The players had the opportunity to kick off Maynard’s reign on a high note but fell well short of our expected standard of play.
  15. Craig Heiden’s updates are always insightful. To see Junior Morias and Will Randle back at full training is a huge relief and could not come at a better time. Really shows the quality and resilience of our squad. It's these small victories off the field that contribute to our spirit and performance on it! Also, hats off to the medical staff for their stellar work, they’re the unsung heroes in sport!
  16. The news about Nuneaton folding is dreadful. It doesn’t bode well for English football, and they might not be the only team this season. I sincerely hope they can reform when the time is right.
  17. It’s commendable that Notts doesn’t just thrust the young ones into the fray, but I do think we should start giving some of them more playtime when the opportunity arises. If we’re controlling a home game and are comfortable, why not bring one or two on as time winds down? I’d be thrilled to see more of Jason Sanderson.
  18. He’s certainly won my approval. Not that I doubted his abilities, but after hearing him speak, I believe he’s up for the challenge and could be exactly what we require. If he can provide the stability and defensive presence that Alex Lacey once did, I’ll be quite pleased.
  19. It's good to see a young player like Warner stepping into the football league with such confidence. He's obviously got the physical attributes, but it's his ball-playing skills that intrigue me the most. With a coaching staff that's focused on developing talent, I'm positive he's going to make a significant impact. A classy move by the club, this is the kind of ambition that can take us to the next level.
  20. There's something special about seeing a young player rise through the ranks at Notts County. James Sanderson represents not just the future of our club, but the power of dedication and passion for the game. His commendable performances, especially that striking debut goal against Shrewsbury, have rightly earned him a spot on the first team. The club's nurturing environment, spearheaded by the academy staff, clearly plays a pivotal role in shaping raw talent into professional finesse. This is the kind of news that does not just excite us for the immediate impact on the pitch, but also for the long-term prospects of Notts County.
  21. I am eagerly anticipating observing Stuart Maynard’s approach to managing a prominent club like Notts. His demeanour appears to be serene and composed, which is undoubtedly beneficial. It’s intriguing to consider how he will cope with the heightened expectations and pressures that come with such a significant role. His calm nature could be a stabilising influence in the high-stakes environment of football management. It’s a challenging task, but his collected character might be the key to navigating through it successfully. It will be fascinating to see how his leadership style impacts the team’s performance. Will his cool-headed approach translate into strategic decisions on the pitch? Only time will tell. Regardless, his journey at Notts promises to be an exciting one, and I, for one, can’t wait to see how it unfolds.
  22. Bristol City 0-2 Watford Norwich City 1-1 West Bromwich Albion Exeter City 1-2 Cambridge United Stevenage 0-3 Barnsley AFC Wimbledon 2-1 Crawley Town Joker Barrow 0-0 Crewe Alexandra Eastleigh 1-2 Oldham Athletic Ebbsfleet United 0-0 Hartlepool United
  23. I’m really pleased with the appointment. Some fans need to remember we’re a league two team. This is how most clubs work. If you look down on a new manager, it just creates a false negative. You have to give the new head coach a chance. Stuart Maynard looks great on paper. I can’t wait to chant his name.
  24. I think Jim O’Brien has done well in temporary charge, I appreciate his efforts. About his comment on changing playing styles mid-season, it probably depends on how much the players accept the changes and how hard they work to follow those instructions. I think Stuart Maynard will slowly implement his own vision but I don’t expect this to happen instantly.
  25. Stockport will have a plan to try to isolate our best creative players. It might be slow at times and if they’re aggressive, I hope the officials stop it early. This could be a great game for both teams, full of action and drama. Hoping for a win, but a draw would be fine too.
