Was It A Done Deal?
I believe Notts would have permitted Macaulay Langstaff to receive such applause if they had faith or had agreed on a deal for his services at that point. The rumoured sum could be entirely incorrect, and there could be addons in place that increase it. It’s unlikely that we will know either this or when the deal began. I think the club felt the need to sign Jatta. We were desperate for better defenders, and we invested a significant amount in bringing Jatta into the team. His height is something we’ve been missing since Kyle Wootton moved to Stockport. I can envision the club seeking to recruit a striker again come January. As for Junior Morias, we do need to see more of him.

An Introduction To Ryley Reynolds
It would be great to see him given an opportunity. Stuart Maynard was known for promoting young players when he arrived. It’s all about training and increasing game time to see how they develop. I wish Reynolds all the best for the upcoming season.

Match Discussion: PSF - The Zebras (A)
I’ve read comments about Notts imploding, but I don’t think fans should worry about a result in a friendly match. This was an exhibition-style friendly in what seemed like intense heat. I believe Notts had several young players on the pitch at the turning point, and we shouldn’t discredit them by complaining about the loss. Stuart Maynard can take a lot from the game, such as assessing our players’ fitness levels. As the season approaches, most players’ match sharpness should improve.

Weekend Chat Friday 19th - Sunday 21st July
I’m enjoying a relaxing day in my garden, having a few beers and later I’ll fire up the BBQ. The weather has been pleasant today and yesterday, with plenty of warmth and a nice breeze to cool things down. On days like this, it’s lovely to cook a burger outside and see who else might want to join.

Was It A Done Deal?
We won’t know for sure, but I’m less inclined to believe that when Jatta arrived, we had already agreed on a deal for him to move on. Towards the end of the games, it was clear that Jim O’Brien would leave due to him being applauded off. I don’t think Notts would have finalised a deal and then allowed it to overshadow a lot of positive news. I must say, the decision seems to have been mismanaged. Appointing him as captain was a strange decision, but perhaps they hoped this would be enough to make Macaulay Langstaff want to stay at Meadow Lane. I don’t blame him for wanting to play at a higher level at his age. If it doesn’t work out, he could always find his way back to us where he’s happy. So, we have to move on.

Landmark Verdict: Mother Held Accountable for Child's School Shooting in Michigan - A First in U.S. History
I understand the logic behind holding parents accountable, but it also seems unjust and severe. Even the best parents can’t always prevent their child from turning to malevolent actions. In my view, America has a more significant problem with gun crime that they seem to ignore. In my opinion, if someone is determined to carry out a mass shooting, there are more pressing issues than the source of the firearm. If the parents didn’t provide the gun, it could have been someone else. The prevalence of gun ownership in America makes it easy for potential killers to find a source. Keeping the firearm locked away and the ammunition hidden seems naive. What if the child had forced their way to access it? As I’ve said, if you leave a firearm in plain sight and are negligent, I can see the reasoning. However, holding parents entirely accountable for a child’s actions also seems harsh.

Magpie pretends it’s not following a cat
Cats generally don’t appreciate being pursued, and I wager it was wondering what this silly magpie was up to. I suspect the bird was merely being playful and might have pecked at the cat’s tail given the opportunity, perhaps to instigate a chase. Although they might be considered natural adversaries, it’s surprising how some can exhibit playful behaviour towards each other.

Memories of Notts County Cola
Wasn’t there a voucher you could clip to purchase County Cola at a reduced price? I’ve never tried it, but I recall a friend who was keen on collecting these cut-outs to get the drink for less.

England or Notts?
The club should invariably take precedence over the country. Any individual who prioritises England over Notts may not be as fervent a fan as most ought to be. If you’re a Notts supporter from England, you should consistently support your country. However, I believe it would be debatable for a fan to place them ahead of Notts.

Will Randall departs
Will Randall was given numerous opportunities to demonstrate his capabilities. There were instances last season when his vitality could have provided respite for other weary players, but he never fully committed. I’ve never observed a winger like him, one who receives the ball only to swiftly pass it to another player, only to retrieve it in the exact same position, and then to relinquish possession backwards without making a forward run. It’s exasperating when you encounter players of this nature, but he never appeared to be an integral part of the squad or settled. We seldom heard from him and he scarcely seemed to interact with fans.

Notts Academy Is There Any Point?
Cultivating talent presents a challenge. You can undergo all the training from a tender age until you sign a professional contract. However, nothing equates to the experience gained from playing in a real stadium, in a competitive match, and against high-calibre players. Notts seem somewhat reluctant to field their young players, not giving them ample opportunity to fully blossom. This squandered potential is a source of frustration for me. I believe we all desire to see home-grown players in the squad. Yet, some supporters won’t afford them the necessary patience without criticising them. I don’t believe this hinders Notts’ progress. In my view, it’s largely attributable to the managers and the club’s desire for results.

Tony Hateley
What made Tony Hateley such a great player was his hard-working attitude and how modest he was off the pitch. In those days, players seemed much more grateful to be professional footballers. He also learnt from some of the greatest players! He had two decent feet, was quick and powerful, and had an incredible shot. I remember some of his return towards the end of his career, but he was admired by many people I knew who supported Notts. He also had a great spell with Liverpool, whose fans loved him just as much as we did. A great traditional centre-forward.

Welcome to Notts, Kellan Gordon
It sounds like a good addition. I hope he proves to be a real contender for a starting spot. I know it will be tough with Jodi Jones and Aaron Nemane in the mix, but when form demands it, you hope someone will step up. I think this signing offers that potential. I'm pleased the wingback positions are sorted, so I'm delighted with this signing.

Netherlands v England: Pre & Post Match Analysis.
It was a very good match. The Netherlands only had moments of brilliance and a few opportunities, but they never seemed to pose much of a threat. England stepped up their game and performed exceptionally well. It was a thrilling moment to see Ollie Watkins score the winning goal so late in the game. I don’t agree with the commentators that the angle was difficult. It was a fantastic shot and an impressive display of skill to control it for the attempt, but once he was clear, you’d expect it to go in.

Who Will Get The Notts Number 9 Shirt?
I’m not overly concerned about it. These days, squad numbers don’t seem to hold much significance. I’d like to think that someone like Cedwyn Scott would get it, but I can see the club giving it to someone else or leaving it vacant until we find a replacement for Macaulay Langstaff.
-
Was it a Penalty?
Yes, it was a penalty, but I can see why some might think it’s harsh. Most English fans wouldn’t be happy if the roles were reversed, but it’s one of those things. The Netherlands player didn’t touch the ball, and it happened just before Harry Kane managed to take the shot. Even though he seemed to get a clean strike, it was a penalty due to the lateness of the challenge.

Alex Kirk .....RCB?
Coming through Arsenal’s academy system suggests that he has talent and should be competent in terms of ability. The usual question is how he interacts with other players and how they apply themselves. I have faith in the recruitment team to make the right decision, but the fact that we are conducting trials implies that we may not be entirely confident about them.

Footballers with holey socks
If there’s a scientific basis for it, then we should explore ways to make socks less tight rather than resorting to cutting them. It doesn’t seem appropriate for a professional sport.

End of an Era: Macaulay Langstaff's Unforgettable Journey at Notts County
What a signing he has been for Notts. He has everything to succeed in the Championship. Millwall might be a tough challenge, with their ups and downs, but it's a good signing for them. It's definitely a big loss, but one we should be happy to have witnessed.

Match Discussion: PSF - The Reds (A)
Two mixed teams will each get 45 minutes of play, although some players might get less time. I’ll make a decision on the day of the game about whether or not I’ll attend. I believe it should be a good outing for the lads and provide a useful indication of their current fitness levels.

Cameron to St Johnstone?
Our defence is getting better. It would have been nice to see Kyle Cameron rise to the challenge, but he’s chosen to move on. I respect his decision. Losing the captaincy might have been tough, but the prospect of not being a regular starter could have been even harder. Some players don’t want to be on the bench or miss matches. This is one of the reasons why I appreciate Adam Chicksen. I’d love to see him regain his form on the left flank for us. I don’t envision him as a regular centre-back, just a backup. So, with Cameron going out on loan, I think it would be wise to sign a new player in the centre-back position. However, we need a right-sided player as we already have enough left-footed defenders.
-
England v Switzerland: Pre & Post Match Analysis.
The only drawback of England’s performance was the limited attempts on goal. From a defensive standpoint, both teams performed admirably. Each team had their moments, with Switzerland being slightly less fortunate. However, when they scored, England responded impressively, taking control and striving to equalise. It was a game of give and take.
