  4. A lot of our players are not the most reliable finishers. Kellan Gordon and Nick Tsaroulla have both missed very good chances and do not often take the ones that come their way. The same could be said about Scott Robertson, Ollie Norburn and Tom Iorpenda. It is not only Conor Grant or Matt Palmer who struggle in this area. Players like Jodi Jones make up for it with assists and creativity. Jodi is more than capable of scoring but does not. I do not think people hold it against him, as he works hard and is a real asset to the squad. Palmer is a credit to Notts and Grant also puts in the effort. Grant might benefit from an extra push from Martin Paterson, perhaps by being challenged to score more. Mai Traore should not be given a free pass just because he has not settled. He is a professional footballer and so far looks like the biggest flop of the Reedtz era. I would love to see him celebrate a goal, but he needs to show more form and play at a better level. Every player has limits, but each brings something different to the squad. As long as we have players who can finish chances, the goals will come. We are fortunate to have Alassana Jatta and even Matthew Dennis to a degree.
  5. The activity streak might be the push I need to get back on here as a regular face. The improvements are very good. The live features and the new menu changes make it easier to use on a mobile. It is brilliant to see more changes that help bring the community together.
  6. It is getting colder each day now. It feels good to stay inside when I can, where it is warm and comfortable. I do not blame anyone who chooses to sit in their cosy chair and enjoy the comfort of a heated home. Today has felt much slower to me. With no football to look forward to this weekend, I will need to find something else to keep myself busy.

  8. Notts have shown they can play well. It's about keeping control during matches and making sure the performance is strong enough across the full ninety minutes. The win itself isn't hugely important, but it was a good showing. Like me, fans will want to see that kind of effort more often in league games. When I say the win doesn't mean much, I don't mean it wasn't good. It does matter, just not in terms of points. It's more about the hope that Notts can rise to this level more often in League Two.
  9. Billy Dearden played for Oldham Athletic in 1966, and later managed us in 2004. The unusual link, having no playing experience with Notts, but being in charge of players.

  11. The Reedtz are showing real commitment to the club by writing off the debt. Our two previous owners would not have done that, and while one did save us from Munto, it was not on the same level as this gesture. The decision is not about paying people back but about pushing for promotion to League One. This deserves a lot of appreciation because it has been done in the best interests of the club and its aim to become sustainable. The whole club has changed since the National League years. Some may not agree with what I have said before, but I do not think anyone can underestimate the good the Reedtz have brought to Meadow Lane. We are now being run like an ambitious club. To match that, we just need to keep working towards promotion. Things feel much brighter, even if this season’s recruitment raised a few eyebrows. That is part of the reason why smart loans were considered. We just need to back the players and hope they can deliver or at least help us along the way.
  12. Crewe fans on social media are acting like they’re unbeatable. I find it annoying when their stadium name sounds like a breakfast cereal. Notts needs to keep up the recent momentum and keep working hard to create chances. I don’t mind a draw if it’s earned through effort. Defensively, we should be able to handle Crewe. The main worry is their aerial threats and set pieces, but we’ve looked better lately. I hope we can ease the pressure at the back by attacking more or at least keeping hold of the ball and moving into areas that stretch them.
  13. Rod McDonald is a good example of what makes life easier for a manager. Part of the reason he's been so consistent might be down to Martin Paterson and the fact McDonald wants to impress the new coach. I thought he did alright under Stuart Maynard, but I feel he's showing his appreciation to Paterson for letting him take up the central spot in the back three.
  14. I am not all the clued up with cricket, but even I know who Dickie Bird is. I hope he rests in peace.
  15. Didn't he last join a Non-League side? I’m guessing he’s not playing anymore and this is now his full-time job. It’s always sad when a young player’s career doesn’t go the way it looked like it might. Signing for Liverpool would have been a huge moment, and being let go must have been hard to take. Still, he’s found something he cares about and seems happy doing it. That’s a good thing. Even so, it’s a real shame for football to lose that kind of promise.

  20. The only real benefit of being a number two is having less pressure on your shoulders. I think it would be a poor move if he left his role as head coach here just to become someone’s assistant at a club that’s struggling for the first time in a while. It’s an important appointment for Michael Duff and it needs to go well for him. But I don’t think they’ll want to pay compensation to bring in Martin Paterson. It would feel like a step back for Paterson’s career. It might also give the impression that he doesn’t have the fight to stand on his own and lead a team properly.
  21. Why can't we change the way we play now and then? Professional players should be able to adjust to different systems and find their rhythm by using what each style offers. I think we usually look better with two strikers. Tranmere showed signs of that, even though I’ve only seen the highlights. The problem might come when we face strong defensive teams, as that’s where we could struggle. It’s still early in the partnership, so we either stick with the two up front and work out the best way to get them involved, or we need to be flexible and change things when needed. I do think we look more dangerous with two strikers, but there’s a risk of injuries and suspensions. If teams can control the midfield, they might find it easy to deal with our front line.
  22. I find it more interesting to talk about the fans forum after it’s taken place. Sometimes you can pick up on things that aren’t said directly, and that makes the discussion more meaningful. I’m not really a fan of holding these forums when there are lots of complaints that don’t seem to have much reason behind them. I’m not saying that’s the case this time, because I do think the club should have given us more updates before fans had to push for it. The problem is we don’t tend to hold forums when things are going badly, and when things are going well, they often get ignored. That’s why I prefer to wait, see what’s been said, and talk about those points properly. I also like reading what other people think.
  23. Before his ego took over, Eden Hazard was a joy to watch when he played for Chelsea. Seeing him come to Notts would have been a dream, only matched by the excitement of the Munto season. I know it is unrealistic, but the point of this topic is to dream about players who lost their love for football or had to retire because of injury. Even at 32, which was the age he retired, Hazard would still have been a world-class player.
  24. @liampie, this season is about achieving something special by beating Fleetwood Town. We now join Port Vale and a few past teams who have beaten all 91 professional league clubs from the Premier League to League Two. It is an achievement to be proud of, much like visiting all 91 grounds, and it means a great deal to the fans.
  25. If you can meet me near the burger van in the KOP, I will make the donation in person, gaffer. I wish you all the best with this, as the improvements and updates have been spot on. You are enhancing a brilliant community, which now seems to be getting the recognition it deserves. I wish I could help more, but I will make time to contribute to the site and do my part.
