Match Discussion: League Two - Shrewsbury Town (A)
Will things improve with two games at Meadow Lane? I hope so. I think it could stay tense until we get three points, and the performances need to be good enough to make that happen unless something changes soon. It’s starting to look like it could be a tough season, but it’s still very early. There’s time to turn things around. Defend from the back, lead from the front. That’s the way forward.

Game 2: Match Discussion, The Ammies (H)
A win on Saturday would be a great way to get the season going. Newport felt like two points dropped, but at the same time we did well to rescue one against a side that defended strongly. I’m hoping Salford are feeling the pressure after their defeat. If we’ve done our homework and the players are told to stay close to the ones who make things happen, we could get a good result.

When automatic sub titling goes wrong
You’ve got to laugh really, because everyone messes up sometimes. But the BBC seems to do it all the time now. It used to feel like it was made for everyday British people. Now it’s full of stuff that feels negative and messy, just like how things have changed in the UK lately.

Lewis Macari
I like Lewis Macari. He's a good young player with promise, and it’s a shame if he has been betting. I hope, for his sake and ours, he doesn’t get banned.

Trialists at Notts
Trying out players on trial can help the head coach or manager see where they might fit in. It’s a good way to spot what a player offers and whether they bring something different to the group. People often get caught up in finding like-for-like replacements. But sometimes, a player with different qualities can change how the team plays for the better.

New head coach Martin Paterson
The success of Denmark’s Under-21s might have made Notts think again, and maybe the new head coach was their back-up plan. But I don’t really believe that’s how it played out. You’d hope people would give the new man a fair shot. It’s only right to see what he can do before rushing to judge.

Could it be
Agent Trev makes up a lot of things. Every now and then, something might turn out to be true, but most of the time it's just nonsense. He's really not worth paying attention to. Some people used to think it was just a Notts fan having a laugh and trying to cause a stir.

Welcome to Notts Academy: Nimesh Patel.
The key to academies is consistency and high standards. Training prospects but not giving them enough time won’t develop talented young professionals. It only helps bigger clubs when they start looking for new talent.

Congratulations Alassana Jatta & David McGoldrick
Both players had a fantastic season. David McGoldrick will be greatly missed.

George Foreman RIP.
I still remember watching the Moorer fight. Everyone counted him out, but he shocked the world. Rest in peace, legend.

Match Report: Nick Tsaroulla and David McGoldrick on Target as Notts Beat Gillingham
Brilliant result against a team that can make games difficult despite their league position. We have to be happy with the three points.

Dan Leivers: "Lads Excited for FA Youth Cup Challenge Against Fulham"
The U18s have done very well. Fulham will be a test, and supporters shouldn't make any comparison between their level and ours. Notts are making good progress with the youngsters. I wish them well.

Match Discussion: Game 11 - The Spireites (A)
I don’t know what to expect. Early on in the season, I would have felt confident. I think the players are going through a transition, and the outcome of games really depends on many different factors. Carlisle away, for example, we scored twice and then never really pushed for a third. The squad needs to remain hungry throughout the game against Chesterfield and not rely so much on our defending. Otherwise, it could be a long 90 minutes.

Should there be more protection for players?
There has to be a level of common sense. Even after challenges are made, the FA should review what caused the injury and make suspensions to the offending players when it’s been missed by officials. Whilst it wouldn’t help Jodi Jones, it may start to prevent those types of tackles and give more thought to the officials to make a better judgement on them.

Pep Guardiola Has Ruined Football ?
I think Pep ruins football because he tends to bring in big players without giving younger ones a real chance. He signed that lad from Leeds, Kalvin Phillips I believe, and has virtually ruined his career, especially at the international level. He had the chance to bring Ollie Palmer into Manchester City’s first team but sold him to Chelsea. A good manager would see these players’ true potential and how they would fit in. Phillips was never going to work out at City.

Welcome to Notts Josh Martin.
It’s what we needed, as we can’t afford not to have attacking options on the bench. His age means there’s something there that is ready to play but also potential to unearth a player that just needs to settle within a first-team environment. League Two and One might be more his standard right now. So, it could be a good signing, but I don’t read much into the Premier League starts. It’s good but not something to go on about.

Match Discussion: Game 8 - The Shrimps (A)
I do wonder if we are due a 0-0 draw, with Morecambe doing everything to spoil our day out to the seaside. I can’t imagine there won’t be chances, but it would just be our luck to see them clear the lines several times, put bodies in the way, and for their keeper to play a blinder.

Aiden Stone to Boston on Loan
I wish Aidan Stone all the very best. I hope he finds a club where he can enjoy more success and establish himself as a number one. I do think we need better, but I am puzzled as to why Sam Slocombe remains our second choice, despite his obvious flaws and injury issues.

Are Pep And Jose That Good?
I don’t think either are as good as people claim. There’s too much money in the game, and I don’t think you can compare them to managers like Sir Bobby Robson or Sir Alex Ferguson, who would both be higher up my list of all-time greatest managers. I can’t stand Pep; he seems to think he’s football’s answer to Jesus. He turns clubs into champions when they already have been and walks on grass as if he’s walking on water. He’s had an easy life at Manchester City. I have far more respect for the self-proclaimed chosen one.

Jodi Jones Injury
I think Jodi Jones might be out for a short time or perhaps up to 2 months, but this is all pure speculation. Those claiming he’s out for the season are just after likes. Those who claim to be in the know probably don’t know anything more than us, and if one or two happen to be right, they are either gaining information from someone else or guessing right. It’s a bit disrespectful to Jodi Jones, I feel. I hope he’s back sooner rather than later, but we need to look after him.

Poll: Who is your Notts Man of the match v Gillingham?
Well done to Pride of Nottingham’s Man of the Match, Jacob Bedeau. He played brilliantly and truly deserved the recognition. His performance was outstanding and made a big difference in the game. Congratulations, Jacob!
