Can Notts Get Promotion in 2025?
We can, but I think we are still 3 to 4 players short. Definitely need another winger/wing back, that is a given. Would like another striker with pace, and/or another attacking midfielder. Finally, Iโd like to see another keeper brought in as backup to Bass. Goals have dried up a fair bit since JJ became injured, so really grateful that the defence is really starting to gel.

The problems of modern day football
Independent and Financial Regulator to be appointed. Never allow a football club to be bought and the debt placed on the club (e.g. UTD). Fairer distribution of monies throughout the leagues and scale the money paid to the Premier League so that the clubs finishing lower down the league receive a larger slice of the revenue to help close the gap. Set a wage cap. Reinstate all cup replays, but allow Premier league clubs to carry a larger named squad that they could then afford if a wage cap was in place. Dock league points for fielding weakened sides in the cups. Remove all U21 sides from the BSM trophy.

Match Discussion: Game 13 - The Bluebirds (A)
Take a point all day long with 5 central midfielders out, one still not yet fully match sharp and another who hasnโt played much regularly. Issue now is getting these players fit as soon as possible, otherwise weโll risk burnout from the ones playing more football than they should be. I think last night also proved that Bedeau and Platt have to play in any game against decent opposition as McDonald just didnโt look up to speed. Maybe he might get another chance at the weekend against his former club. I wonder if Macari was still struggling after getting cramp at the weekend as he did not have a great game.
-
Match Discussion: Game 13 - The Bluebirds (A)
We might do something a bit different tomorrow, as we could go to a back 4 and play Bedeau at left back, that would then get McDonald and Platt in playing in their correct positions, with Gordon at RB if Macari isnโt fit. Midfield three of Hinchy, Palmer and Abbott, then Austin, Crowley and Jatta as the loan striker. Pure guesswork but could be an option. Otherwise, we will definitely rest Didzy, and we may rest Palmer as he has played a lot of minutes recently. Austin will definitely play tomorrow, where though is anyoneโs guess. Barrow have lost 4 out of 5, so can see this being another 1-0 game going either way.
-
Should Jatta & McGoldrick be Starting a Match Together?
Iโm not averse to Didzy starting, but I honestly think he would be better against a tiring defence, not became he will be fitter, but I think he has that guile and quickness of thought to outsmart defenders whose concentration will be starting to waiver. I really think that this is the one area we really need to strengthen in January, if we persist with two attacking midfielders behind a lone striker. My personal preference would be for a 5212 formation, but we really need another pacey forward for this. Either way, weโll need to dip into the transfer market to get us into the promotion shake up.

Match Discussion: Game 11 - The Spireites (A)
Been out all day so not seen any of the game or in game comments. At the end of the day if you were offered a draw at the start of the day, nearly every Notts fan would have snapped your hand off. No complaints, and Iโm going to be positive, keep plugging away until the January window and then hopefully find the next Ruben. Find another player like him, and with a fit again Jodi watch us fly! Weโre only a couple of players short from being a really decent side.
-
Are Notts making progress this season??
Have we progressed? Absolutely. Have we progressed enough? Iโm not so sure. I still see us as being a two or 3 players short, and theyโre all towards the top end of the pitch. We miss that ability that Ruben had, to play great little through balls around the box. We can and should be playing another forward at home and we need to test the goalkeeperโs more, took often we try to walk the ball in. We need to take more risks in order to break down the opposition, itโs currently a little too safe.

Match Discussion: Game 10 - The Valiants (H)
Sorry, but playing Crowley so deep is ridiculous, heโs having very little impact on games and he needs pushing further forward. Time after time, it was Crowley to Gordon, cross. Almost every cross was in the air and it was just one dimensional football, the one time Gordon did drag the ball across the ground, Crowley should have scored. Get Crowley further forward, playing in through balls and ghosting in at the back post, like last season. I thought every substitution made us worse yesterday, Abbott for Tsaroulla made no sense, Scott was really poor, Martin was just plain awful, and whilst Cundy for Palmer was a last throw of the dice, it pretty much killed the game. The amount of crosses into the box was screaming out for us to play two strikers. Scott or Brown (or even Cundy) and a shift in formation to 532 (or 5212, or 3412, however you want to look at it), with Crowley pushed up behind the forwards and Palmer and Robbo sitting in. Jatta was totally isolated and had nothing played into his feet, he was just expected to challenge for every header, which I donโt think he is particularly good at. Hoping Didzy is back for next week, to help unlock the Cheaterfield defence.

Another Possible Loanee From Spurs Come January
Personally think Abbott has struggled a bit since we have played him further forward and hasnโt hit the heights of his first full game for us. As far as our own Academy players are concerned, Muir will quite possibly be gobbled up to disappear into a Premiership academy and never seen again. We would be powerless to stop it unless Muir himself turns it down. I like Reynolds and would want him loaned out at no lower than NLN level, if not I would rather keep him with the squad. I donโt actually think any of our Academy players should be loaned out though until after the leyland DAF freight Rover Sherpa Van Pappa Johns Pizza trophy campaign is over.

Game 14: Nottinghamshire v Warwickshire
Notts will draw this as the weather should see to that. Lancashire though have had a very good day so far. Hopefully Notts get the bonus points they need. We can then get rid of Moores.

The Nest/Fan Zone: Update.
I refuse to pay to watch Premier league U21 teams, but to support Notts financially instead through their fan zone far more tempting.

Match Discussion: Game 7 - The Gills (H)
Quite frankly, we have seen some bad officiating over the last few years, but that has to be up there with the very worst I have ever seen and in the past you would definitely think a brown envelope had been passed to them sometime in the week prior. Bad decisions started from the very first minute with their left back clattering into Abbot and only getting a โtalking toโ, Abbot then decides to take his own retribution a couple of minutes later and challenges said left back whilst in full โRoy Keaneโ mode, on another day he could have been off. Tsaroulla could have had a hat trick in the first half, first was good work by him but a weak finish, second he ran onto a great cross from Macari but decided to blast it into the stands with his wrong foot when all he had to do was keep in down, or even take a touch as he was in loads of space. Third was an unforgivable miss and I still cannot believe how he didnโt score from the save of JJ, the least said about Abbottโs attempt the better. Gillingham goal looked a yard offside from the replay, but he took it well to be fair to him, and that was probably their last decent chance of the game. Still cannot understand how Austinโs goal was disallowed, especially when it took the linesman around 8 seconds to put his flag up. Iโve still not heard an acceptable reason as Brown didnโt touch the ball and he was definitely onside when the ball was kicked. The most worrying part of the day for me is how long JJ will be out for, we can hope for the best but it doesnโt look good at all, and Iโm hoping itโs not ankle ligament damage. Thought we got a few things wrong today. Abbott wasnโt comfortable playing that far forward and probably had his worst game so far, maybe it would have been better to play Crowley there from the start as he was playing too deep to hurt Gillingham. Grant (edited as originally named the wrong player) struggled all game and probably should have been changed at half time, he needs to offer more than he is doing at the moment, appears to hide a bit too much and has little off the ball movement, I feel that Austin offers more than him (except defensive height). Not too disheartened with the result because if Jatta was available we would have won, but I am a little concerned at our mounting injury list and really worried if Jodie is out for three or four months. Hopefully get Robbo, Jatta and Scott back in the next couple of weeks as we will need them against Port Vale.

Where are they now : Jayden Richardson
The lad has totally lost his way as he should not be playing right down there! Had the talent to play league 1/2 but canโt have the work ethic to get there by the look of things.

Match Discussion: Game 7 - The Gills (H)
To me, our season starts here. This will be the yardstick as to how far we have come this season and will match the divisions highest scorers against the stingiest (I think?) defence. Will be interesting, but I wouldnโt change too much. Probably Tsaroulla back with JJ on the right. Palmer & Abbott in midfield with Crowley & Didzy behind the Jattattack. Can see this going 2-1 either way.
-
Match Discussion: Game 5 - The Owd Reds (H)
Definitely harsh on Scott by saying he isnโt good enough, the guy missed nearly the whole of last season and has now picked up another injury, it could take him till January to regain his match sharpness and confidence to tackle. At least he got into position when he missed the chance and he nearly played Edwardโs in with a great first touch., just a fraction too close to the keeper. He just needs a bit of luck and a goal.
-
Match Discussion: Game 3 - The Mariners (H)
Canโt argue with any comments, I thought it was the performance under Maynard at home by a mile. Other than JJ and Crowley, I thought Edwardโs had a cracking game playing further up the field. Plays the simple ball, doesnโt try to over complicate things and pressed brilliantly. The only thing I could fault him with was his half hearted challenge for their goal. Another thing that struck me was how we werenโt afraid to take on the โpressโ. Both Williams and Burchnall both struggled to come to terms with sides that pressed us, but last night we played short crisp passes in order to break out effectively, but Bass also wasnโt afraid to go long when needed in order to mix it up. Overall, a great result but consistency will be key, especially against the better sides. Still a couple of players short, but the squad is looking very good, I just hope Robboโs injury isnโt too serious.

Macaulay Langstaff Watch.
Langstaff was in Milwallโs squad @Robbie, he came on after 83 minutes. Millwall lost 4-3 to a late winner. Looks like Millwall are adopting our score loads, concede loads mantra of last season! Fans wanted him in the starting line up looking at the comments, must be seeing his work ethic, if not goals.

Match Discussion: League Cup - The Shrews (A)
There is @Robbie, but itโs almost like clockwork that at some stage between the 60-70 minute mark, we will make 3 subs. He doesnโt need to use all 5 subs, multiple subs offer no benefit to the team and always seems to weakens it. Oh for the days when you only got 1, 3 should be the maximum allowed nowadays as more always benefits the bigger spending/larger budgeted clubs. Itโs not just football thatโs affected by it, it always annoys me when I see the egg chasers do it as well.
-
Match Discussion: League Cup - The Shrews (A)
I hate this making multiple subs at the same time thing that Notts do, it totally unbalances the side and countless times we put ourselves under pressure. Make two subs maximum at once, give them a few minutes to get into the game and then make another sub. It was a total shift in personnel and formation and no wonder we make mistakes. Looks like Samโs time has come, we know he will be released at the end of the season already but itโs looking highly likely we are either going to have to go and get another keeper or remove Stone from the list and make him number 2. I would prefer the formerโฆ.

Tom Daley Announces His Retirement.
Thank heavens he is, sick and tired of my wife admiring his body! In all seriousness I wish him well, he has always come across as a really nice guy and fully deserved the plaudits he has received over the years.

Septic Peg.
Now, Iโm pretty sure Iโve seen Septic Peg before on the Brian Conleyโs show many years ago, I always wondered what happened to her ????. Champions Arsenal (Will get it over the line this season) Runners Up Man City (court case will do for them this season, they should end up relegated but they wonโt). Third Place Man Utd (โIFโ they sign who theyโre chasing and get rid of the bad eggs) Fourth Place Newcastle (have the money and will spend to get there) Fifth Place Spurs (canโt compete with the four above) Sixth Place Liverpool (post Klopp depression)

predicted number of matches you may attend in the 2024-25 season
Probably works out at around 16-18 home games as midweek Tuesday is awkward and will always miss a couple of because Iโm away. Hopefully make a couple of away games, long gone are the days of going home and away every season.

Match Discussion: PSF - The Minstermen (A)
Thanks @Robbie, that implies that Hinchy wonโt count as one of the 22 for this season as he was only 20 on January 1st.
-
Match Discussion: PSF - The Minstermen (A)
Currently have 19 senior outfield players @Wheelbarrow repair man, unless you know something we donโt ????????????? We can sign another 3 and then weโve hit our limit of 22, but personally only expect one more through the door, and weโll leave space to see what the squad needs after the season has started. Not sure how league rules dictate the under 21 squad members as Hinchy was still 20 on January 1st so we may have room for four more? Not sure if the rule is general or club grown players have to be under 21?
