  1. The victory is paramount, and it’s evident that Forest Green Rovers put up a commendable fight. Despite appearing defeated before the second half, they demonstrated remarkable persistence. Particularly in the early stages of the second half, they performed exceptionally well to equalise. However, we displayed our superiority thereafter, treating their comeback more as a wake-up call. We mustn’t become complacent during matches like these, but it’s reassuring to know we possess the quality to turn things around. Even at 35, David McGoldrick is proving to be a sophisticated addition to the squad!
  2. Hello, welcome to PON @Ryan Raynor. Jump in with the content when you can.
  3. The podcast does discuss potential amendments that could enhance the situation regarding debt in football. I concur that the deduction of points does dissuade some owners, but not all. In the future, such changes should be implemented across all clubs under FIFA’s regulations.
  4. Hello, and welcome to PON @Benji.
  5. Jimmy Sirrel was always deeply involved in training, maintaining his fitness by participating in team practices. The squad would train on The Embankment, adjacent to The River Trent, and I would observe their sessions from afar. Today’s players may not fully appreciate the privileges they enjoy.
  6. Welcome @Terri. PON is a good site and well worth visiting, welcome from me.
  7. My respect for Williams has grown even more after his reflections on the match. Criticizing aspects despite the win truly shows his commitment to growth and improvement, which is admirable. His approach in always looking to learn, even from a victory - that's something not many managers dare to do candidly. He's honest, practical, and always looking for ways to get better. Hats off to him.
  8. Luton Town need to start securing more than just draws, but regardless of whether they do or not, I wish them the best of luck with their incredible triumph.
  9. Best of luck, Neil! You’ve been a manager who has contributed significantly to each of the clubs you’ve managed, and I thank you for all your efforts whilst managing Notts. Enjoy your retirement! Explore the world and live your life free from stress.
  10. Just be kind to one another, lads and lasses. There’s no need for confrontation, but equally, there’s no need to be overly offended by something so trivial. The tweet could have been more constructive and without jabs, but unless Connell Rawlinson explains his choice of words, everyone should simply move on.
  11. A spectacular game! Seeing Notts manage to maintain their lead despite strong opposition was thrilling. Crowley and Langstaff kickstarting the game with their goals was electrifying. Witnessing how Notts County still managed to retake the lead with strategic substitutions after Deeney’s hat-trick added an extra edge to the game. We are rightfully on top of the table!
  12. Leeds United 2-2 Watford Swansea City 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday Cambridge United 0-1 Port Vale Portsmouth 1-1 Lincoln City Morecambe 0-2 Swindon Town Joker Stockport County 1-2 Wrexham Gateshead 1-0 Maidenhead United Oldham Athletic 0-0 Oxford City
  13. Adam’s story really touched me. He loves his club a lot, even when times are hard. I was moved by how he found comfort in football and his mates when he was having a tough time. This shows how important football is - it’s more than just a game, it’s a lifeline. It’s lovely to see how the Magpies fans stick together, whether they win or lose.
  14. Luke Williams is performing exceptionally well and given time, I’m confident he will begin to integrate our own talent into the squad, assuming we can keep him on as manager. I think League One and Two are areas where we could make more of an effort to recruit players who have been offered professional deals from the academy. The youth I saw during the pre-season was promising, but seasoned players will always provide valuable mentorship. I hope we can persuade Jim O’Brien to remain with us as a coach, rather than moving to Sheffield United.
  15. I believe Gary Owers is a wise addition to this.
  16. Dan Crowley is undoubtedly in excellent form, and it’s clear that all the preparation and hard work put into training is benefiting Notts. With Luke Williams orchestrating the strategy, it’s heartening to see Notts building on last season’s momentum and advancing. One can only speculate how the Reedtz brothers are feeling about this season. The availability of three automatic promotion spots certainly gives us a target to strive for.
  17. I don’t believe Luke Williams will be glancing at the league table and assuming that Forest Green Rovers will be a walk in the park. This is far from the truth, but the Notts players simply need to make things difficult by maintaining possession of the ball. We are fortunate to have such an abundance of talent, making it hard to envision how a team that’s currently struggling could compete against a strong side. However, this could serve as additional motivation for them. I’m pleased that the match is taking place at Meadow Lane, but I do have concerns about the weather and whether rain might slow the pace of the game. The silver lining is that Notts has the ability to slow down games to suit their style, leaving it up to FGR to seize any opportunities during the match. I’m confident that opportunities will arise, but the absence of Aaron Nemane will be felt.
  18. Neal Bishop, a father of two growing children, has undoubtedly had less time with his family due to his football career. His managerial responsibilities would have further reduced this time. Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising if he has chosen to step down in order to enjoy better quality time with his family.
  19. It is with great sorrow that I learned about the passing of Colin Murphy. He provided us with a fantastic season, and I held him in high regard as an individual.
  20. The UK ought to pledge more robust commitments to ensure businesses are playing their part, not just superficial social media posts about recycling for the sake of appearances. Instead, they should be actively involved in combating pollution, preserving green spaces, and maintaining clean water. The financial burden will inevitably fall on the taxpayers, as it always does, rather than political parties using these initiatives to effect substantial changes. A promising first step would be to position the UK as one of Europe’s premier locations for charging electric cars or to find a more suitable solution to reduce gas/diesel emissions.
  21. As we approach the upcoming match against Salford City, the spotlight is firmly on Luke Williams. His role as a leader is crucial in harnessing the potential of our players. It’s not enough for him to be a passive observer of the game’s progression. Instead, his active involvement in guiding the players on the field could be a game-changer. By providing real-time instructions, he can instil a level of focus in the players that could significantly influence the game’s outcome. Williams has at his disposal a squad brimming with talent. The quality of this team leaves no room for mediocrity. Therefore, it’s only fitting that he sets high expectations for the players. The match against Salford City presents an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities. With effective communication and high standards, Williams can inspire his team to deliver a performance that matches their potential.
  22. Luke Williams ought to communicate effectively to bring out the best in our players. Rather than merely observing the game’s progression, it would be beneficial to see him actively providing guidance to the players. This could help instil a level of focus that could lead to favourable outcomes. Given the quality of Williams’ squad, there’s no justification for him not to set high expectations for the players in their match against Salford City.
  23. Bristol City 0-2 West Bromwich Albion Huddersfield Town 1-1 Rotherham United Derby County 0-1 Portsmouth Shrewsbury Town 2-1 Bristol Rovers Crawley Town 0-2 Tranmere Rovers Joker Newport County 1-1 Barrow Hartlepool United 0-1 Woking Wealdstone 2-0 Altrincham
  24. The goal that Kyle Cameron scored was certainly one that will go down in Notts County history. Spectacular shots like these are the reason people come to watch the game. With each passing game, his skill is evolving and it's a treat to watch. Despite the intense competition, Kyle seems to be maintaining his cool and focusing on improving his game. His confidence, determination, and modest approach towards the game is commendable. Can't wait to watch him in action in the upcoming matches.
  25. I believe Rawlinson needed to fall back before making the run, but I think their player would have outpaced him. He demonstrated a decent amount of technical skill as well. We shouldn’t be too critical of him. Maybe Williams will reconsider which matches Rawlinson starts once the loan signings have acclimatised?
