  1. Thanks for the update. I’m really happy with how the upgrade turned out and the improvements it’s brought. It’s great that fans have a place like this where they can chat and talk about things properly. Big thanks to everyone who helps support the site and keep it running. It means a lot.
  2. He looked a bit heavy and didn’t move around much. Even so, I thought he was one of the five players who stood out in the second-half line-up. He’s probably not high up the pecking order, but he still did a few good things that caught the eye. The number 9 also had a decent effort on goal, forcing the Alfreton keeper into a good save that was pushed wide.
  3. Hello, welcome to PON @Daisy-Mae. Good to have you here, and I hope you have fun visiting.
  4. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham! Great to have you with us, @James Macdonald. Dive in and enjoy the chat.
  5. Glad you’ve joined us, @Peter Thornley! Make yourself at home and feel free to share your thoughts on all things Notts.
  6. He looks like a good signing. I’d still prefer us to bring in more players on permanent deals, though. It's hard to know what kind of quality is actually available, but if Barry Cotter settles in and enjoys his time at Meadow Lane, maybe a deal with Barnsley could be sorted. I like that the club is focusing on the positions where we need to be more consistent.
  7. I watched the Magpie Circle match vlog and agreed with the lad who said we should give Martin Paterson a chance. This will be his first proper pre-season, and the club seems set up for him to do well. We still need to bring in a couple of new players, and strong signings would definitely make a difference. That said, Paterson came across well in the interview. I liked how honest he was and how he got straight to the point.
  8. The quality players who usually turn up on trial often have injury problems, discipline issues, or something else that’s held them back. Nathan Tyson had a trial with us before signing, and that was mostly because of concerns over his fitness and injury record. But for the level we were at, he was always going to be a good addition given the limited choices we had up front. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with trialists. It gives lesser-known players a chance to be judged on how they play and what they can do, rather than just their background or past clubs.
  9. Life can be cruel in how it shapes our future. He was a very good player who started at Wolves and looked like a huge signing for them. At Liverpool, he really showed what he could do. At 28, he still had so many years ahead to hit his peak. It’s heartbreaking to hear about the car crash. Rest in peace, Jota.
  10. It’s being played behind closed doors, so they likely don’t want to risk playing Alex Bass against us. There’s really not much to it. There’s no money to be made from the friendly, so complaining about it seems pointless.
  11. Some fans didn’t like that he came from a job as a BT Technician, so they won’t take his statement seriously. That’s a shame, because you can see how hard he worked and how much he cared. It just didn’t work out in the end. Stuart Maynard gave it a proper go, but we didn’t get promoted. There were different reasons for that. Still, it wasn’t a bad effort, and others in his position might’ve done much worse. His message is a good one. I hope he gets another chance in the National League with a club that suits him.
  12. It’s a shame that some fans can’t seem to understand this is what progress looks like for a successful club. When you’re moving forward, tough decisions have to be made. Until we reach the level of clubs higher up the ladder, we’re going to lose players in this way. Yet no one seems to mind when we’re signing players from teams on our level or below. Alex Bass has moved on. He’s left a thoughtful farewell message, and the club has made back more than what we paid to bring him in. Of course, it’s disappointing to lose someone of his ability. But once the initial emotion fades, you realise it’s just part of the game.
  13. I’m honestly gutted by this news. Bass has been brilliant for us, calm, reliable, and always gave 100%. His record speaks for itself. It feels like we’ve lost more than just a keeper; we've lost a leader at the back. I really hope we’re not scrambling to find someone with a similar presence. That said, I wish Alex all the best. He’s earned this move and deserves success at Peterborough.
  14. I’ve got no complaints about the Reedtz. Some fans just seem to panic and throw a strop when things don’t go their way. It really means something that our owner spoke openly and didn’t avoid the tough questions. His honesty shows he’s doing what he believes is right. If this pays off, the complaints will fade. But it’s like last season with Stuart Maynard. He got off to a decent start, then one defeat later and people wanted him gone. Football can be mad at times, but I’m glad both the club and the local press are talking to us and not brushing things aside.
  15. It’s not always been easy for me to get connected, but I understand that the site has had a recent upgrade. It seems something hasn’t worked quite right since, but I’m glad to be kept in the loop. I’m hopeful the site will be back to normal soon.
  16. It’s not too bad, until the wind disappears and the humidity makes it feel sticky and hard to cope with. All you can really do is try your best to stay cool.
  17. I wish him every success and hope he can make a real difference with the academy lads coming through. If he can guide them, support them, and give them a bit of belief, there’s no reason it can’t work out. Welcome, Nimesh Patel.
  18. It’s been staring us in the face all along, Steffen HΓΈjer is set to become our next Head Coach. He’s got one game left to manage, which explains the hold-up. He’s also worked with Viborg in the past, which fits the story. Everyone’s been caught up talking about Luke Williams, but now it’s starting to make sense why that never quite added up. People are finally seeing the bigger picture.
  19. Something traditional with broad stripes would suit me. I’d rather avoid pinstripes or thin black lines, as they don’t look like Notts. I quite liked the barcode shirt from a few years ago. I wonder what this season’s design will be like and if we’ll return to a previous away shirt colour.
  20. Notts have finally released a proper retro shirt that closely matches the original. I hope the club continues working with partners like this to bring back classic designs. I’ve never been keen on the cheap stuff The Terrace has put out. https://shop.nottscountyfc.co.uk/collections/collections/retro/
  21. Not often you sign a player with such a powerful backstory and the ability to back it up on the pitch. Kouhyar’s journey is nothing short of inspiring, and he seems to be hitting form at the right time in his career. He’ll be hungry to prove himself, especially after spending time away from league football. If he can settle in quickly and build some confidence, I think he could really turn heads. Also helps that he’s already got some EFL experience, so this won’t be completely new to him.
  22. Being patient could work out well for Notts. I would have thought the club would’ve made the announcement by now, but it makes me think they’re working on something first before they say anything. We might need to wait a bit longer, but hopefully we’ll know by mid-week. It would be good if the local journalists asked about the recruitment process for the new head coach. We might then understand why the wait is needed, or at least get something interesting to read.
  23. Those were the days with the old green buses. Public transport has come a long way since then, but those buses got us from A to B without needing a taxi. They probably made more people want to learn to drive too. Still, it’s always a bit nostalgic seeing them in photos.
  24. Freaking out is a bit much, but he’s not exactly the best signing. They might want him for his leadership and experience. If they’re going to survive in League Two, they’ll need to be much tighter at the back. He should do well, but if he ends up as a rotation or backup option, it wouldn’t be a surprise, especially after his first season.
  25. I think his goal, which I believe was against Chesterfield, was a crucial strike. David McGoldrick has scored many classy goals, but the most enjoyable ones are the vital strikes that won us a game or earned a point, especially away from home.
