  1. I found the game a bit disjointed at times, particularly in the first half. Barrow were well-structured and capitalised on their opportunity effectively. We seemed to struggle with our precision in the final third, which prevented us from gaining momentum before the break. However, the second half was a significant improvement. We applied more pressure, moved the ball more swiftly, and created some solid opportunities. McGoldrick's equaliser was definitely deserved, and I felt we had a chance to claim victory after that. Overall, a draw feels justifiable. It adds another point to our tally, and we continue to progress.
  2. I thought the game was a bit scrappy at times, especially in the first half. Barrow were well organised, and they took their chance when it came. For us, it felt like we lacked a bit of sharpness in the final third, and we couldn’t quite get going before half-time. The second half was much better though. We put them under more pressure, moved the ball quicker, and created some decent chances. Mcgoldrick’s equaliser was the least we deserved, and I thought we might go on to win it after that. All in all, a draw seems fair. It’s another point on the board, and we keep moving forward.
  3. Pleased with the fightback. Barrow made it difficult with their defensive approach, but we stayed patient and found a way through. Maynard made some good tactical changes, especially with Brown coming on. McGoldrick’s penalty was perfectly placed, as always. The biggest concern for me is how often we’re giving teams a lead to defend. We’ve got to be quicker out of the blocks, especially against these sides that like to sit deep. But a point away is always a good result in this league.
  4. Rod McDonald’s attitude through this injury has been top class. It's always hard for players joining a new club and getting sidelined right away, but he seems to have kept a really positive outlook, which is great. His experience is exactly what we need in defence, and I think his return will help shore things up at the back. Really excited to see how he performs today, especially against his old team, AFC Wimbledon. Should be a good match!
  5. Matt Palmer’s recollection of the play-off final gave me chills, it was such a rollercoaster of a game! The bit about his penalty record was funny, but it just shows how candid he is. More importantly, I think his reflections on the team now are spot on. It’s easy to forget how many new players we’ve got, and he’s right that it takes time to build those relationships on the pitch. Despite that, we’ve started really well, and I’ve no doubt we’ll only get better. Having someone like Palmer to guide the team through this period of adjustment is so crucial.
  6. I don’t know how referees can offer better protection without clearer rules on challenges. I think tackles from behind should be ruled out and result in an instant red card, as they are dangerous and can cause trouble for both defender and attacker. Referees should use more common sense when a challenge is dangerous to offer better protection. However, like VAR, it wouldn’t be straightforward.
  7. Hello, @Richard Eley. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. It’s good to have you here. If you jump into PON, like many others, you will find it fun. It’s a great site and community.
  8. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @Colcard. PON is a very good site, and once you get involved, it only gets better.
  9. The occasion needs to be in good spirit, so I hope there’s no trouble on or off the pitch. The game could be a feisty encounter, which is common in a local derby. It will be good to see David McGoldrick return to the selection. I would start him ahead of Jatta and use him as a sub to impact the game. If we can tire their defence, it could lead to opportunities. I agree, there may not be many goals in the game. Whatever the outcome, we have time to make improvements and continue our good start.
  10. @Joshua Jatta did some good work. He almost scored twice and can’t be faulted for the lack of creativity behind him. Fair play to Robbie Cundy for going up top, but he wasn’t any better than Jatta. I wouldn’t rate him because he wasn’t on long enough, but if I did, I think 4 would be about right, if not a bit harsh. Notts didn’t play terribly. There are words on social media like ‘**nk’ being thrown around, but those seem to come from fans with unhealthy expectations.
  11. Great to see fans of all ages coming to Meadow Lane to support the club. The result yesterday wasn’t what we hoped for or wanted, but that’s football. The Faces of PON has captured the day in colour, and excellently might I add. It’s great to see the dedication that the Pride of Nottingham has towards the club.
  12. Two bottom-half teams, a draw wouldn’t quite do it. Not back to back and certainly not against another team that is struggling. I think Stuart Maynard needs to pull something out of his bag, as it would only lead to silly comments if we weren’t able to return with the maximum amount of points. A draw wouldn’t be bad but it would be somewhat of a setback and right now the team needs a good response which only a win would bring.
  13. This is an exciting signing, especially given the injuries we've had recently. Josh Martin has shown he can compete at a high level, having made Premier League appearances for Norwich and played in League One for Portsmouth. His versatility is a major plus, as we’ve been a bit light in attacking options. The fact that he’s only 23 and has so much experience is impressive.
  14. Morecambe will see our defeat as a chance to further impact the blow of losing our unbeaten run. Notts will be looking to respond and show that they can bounce back, but the question is, will it cause nerves to set in? I think the game will be quite open. It’s down to us to be tight at the back and strong in preventing goals. If we do this, we should be able to score ourselves.
  15. It could be a good thing for Crawley Town. They might be able to appoint someone who can keep them in League One. With the loss of players they have had, it shouldn’t be too hard for a new manager to get to grips with the team. It’s much different for Scott Lindsey. He has a whole new group of players he needs to win over. With a team that is massively underperforming and the pressure on, I don’t think many expect Crawley to stay up.
  16. It was a good game. Gillingham countered well but looked quite limited in their attack. Defensively, I thought they were superb and blocked several chances that could have caused their keeper issues. Even he pulled off some good saves. Notts just needed a bit of luck, which didn’t come. We can complain we missed clear chances, but that is football. I think the offside was the wrong decision, but again, some days you have good officials and then you have what we had yesterday. I don’t think if we scored from open play, the referee or assistant would have found something to disallow it. They were just very poor, rather than corrupt.
  17. Jacob Bedeau was great going forward and a rock in defence. I couldn’t fault his performance at all.
  18. I have looked back at the tackle, which was a fair challenge. The Gillingham player won the ball, but he did go through and clatter Jodi Jones, which you could say was reckless. I think it was knowingly done, but well-timed. I can’t complain about it. Jodi was holding his lower leg, and his socks were pulled around the area he was holding. It looks quite serious, but we can only speculate. I think he will miss several games if we are lucky. The worst scenario is that he will be ruled out longer than Curtis Edwards has been.
  19. On another day, Notts would have won, and I think it shows good character from our players. It’s a shame that Jodi Jones had to go off; that could prove to be costly, but we will have to wait and see. I thought the officials were terrible. I hope we can return to winning ways soon and just focus on making this season the best that we can.
  20. Who remembers these? Five nostalgic discontinued items you may never see in supermarkets again from Panda Pops and Cadbury Dream | The Sun WWW.THESUN.CO.UK DISCOVERING your favourite snack has been taken off shelves can be genuinely disappointing. This week it was revealed that soft drinkLiltha Can you add any other items that have been discontinued that you miss or liked?
  21. This isn’t good news for us, as Curtis Edwards has been in great form and key in our home games for getting results. We do have cover, which is a relief, but we also have other players out like Scott Robertson and the ones mentioned earlier.
  22. Reading about Gillingham’s fans and their views gives us a good idea of what to expect. They have a strong belief in their squad's depth and tactics, particularly appreciating the role of Mark Bonner. From a Notts perspective, this upcoming match demands a high level of tactical awareness and energy. Our midfield will need to be dynamic in both breaking up play and creating opportunities going forward. The Gills have highlighted the potential of Bradley Dack and Conor Masterson, so marking them effectively will be crucial. I expect a fiercely contested game, but I believe we have the quality and team spirit to come out on top. Let’s support our lads and hope for a brilliant match!
  23. Jodi Jones, not because of the goal or contract renewal, but 100% based on his performance. If you haven’t watched the full game, go visit the club website.
  24. He’s out on loan until January. He could continue to score and end up being given another chance under Stuart Maynard, who doesn’t always stick to playing based on how long they’ve been at the club or if they are friends. He could be given a chance, as I think Junior Morias would have asked to go out on loan. Otherwise, why wasn’t he put on the transfer list along with Will Randall, Aidan Stone, and Connell Rawlinson? It also begs the question, why wasn’t a mutual release clause agreed if he wanted regular football? We won’t know, but I wouldn’t rule it out.
  25. Happy Birthday, @CliftonMagpie! ????????
