  1. Luke Williams' strategic insights and determination to preserve the defensive record of the team are commendable. Though the transition to higher-level competition presents challenges, his acknowledgement shows realism and resolve. This attitude is key in guiding the team successfully through this new phase.
  2. The significance of tomorrow's match is unparalleled and a landmark in football history. As fans, our role is to provide support for our team, and I’m sure the atmosphere at Priestfield would reflect our passion. Though a win would be perfect, any result putting up a fair fight would make the 5000th game a memorable milestone for Notts County.
  3. It’s great to see the site back up and running again. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into maintaining it and I’m hopeful that things will get better with time. Life throws many challenges our way, but some people always find a way to justify their poor decisions or unkind behaviour.
  4. It’s always a pleasure to have a home draw. I don’t pay much heed to who our opponents are. I believe there’s no such thing as a bad match-up.
  5. Mansfield’s victory was well-deserved, there’s no question about it. They outperformed Notts and controlled the game, while Notts seemed to lose their way when their initial plan didn’t pan out. Luke Williams, in my opinion, needs to address our approach when things aren’t going our way. There were moments when we could have regrouped, but the substitutions didn’t seem to alter the course of the game. The players need to put in more effort in such situations. I’m not criticising Williams; managing a team is a tough job and he shoulders that responsibility.
  6. Given the disappointing results and the apparent dissatisfaction among the majority of MK Dons fans, it becomes challenging to bounce back. It’s even more difficult for the board to resist the urge to make changes. It’s worth noting that MK Dons fans are often perceived as fickle.
  7. In the first 20-30 minutes, we should get a sense of how the game is progressing. If Notts don’t challenge Swindon Town enough and the first half ends 0-0, it might be the first game where we hear complaints from more than just the Pavis Stand. We simply need to be at our very best, as clear chances will likely be scarce.
  8. Mark Stallard is correct, although I don’t see the need for concern. We might very well keep a clean sheet tomorrow against Swindon. The more we worry or panic, the larger the issue will become. I believe the focus needs to be on training, with an emphasis on awareness. We seem to leave defending to one or two players who are closer to the ball. Perhaps Luke Williams might consider instructing the players to move into defensive positions quicker and to provide support?
  9. Had they been reduced to 10 men earlier, we might have snatched the game, but Colchester United deserved the points. I feel confident saying that some might agree with me, but it was their performance on the day that warranted the win.
  10. Colchester United performed exceptionally well, applying pressure and causing issues from the start of the match. It was an energetic game and had both teams’ defences been stronger, it might have resulted in a draw or a closer win. Any spectator would have found the game highly entertaining. While some fans are concerned about the goals we let in, they are quick to commend Colchester. Both teams need to reduce the number of goals they concede, which is why Colchester has been struggling and we are fortunate to have a strong attack. I hope we return to keeping clean sheets soon.
  11. Ipswich Town 1-1 Hull City Plymouth Argyle 0-2 Millwall Blackpool 1-0 Derby County Bolton Wanderers 2-1 Stevenage Crewe Alexandra 0-1 Gillingham Joker Morecambe 1-2 Accrington Stanley Altrincham 0-0 Aldershot Dagenham & Redbridge 1-0 York City
  12. Hopefully, Notts will be able to break through Colchester's organised defence. Keeping fingers crossed!
  13. Norwich City 0-0 Birmingham City QPR 2-0 Coventry City Port Vale 1-2 Bolton Wanderers Joker Reading 2-0 Burton Albion Gillingham 1-1 Mansfield Town Salford City 0-1 Newport County Halifax Town 1-0 Eastleigh Rochdale 1-0 Southend United
  14. It’s evident that the confidence has escalated with each match, contributing significantly to the overall performances. Sam Austin is an exceptional player. I appreciate his straightforward approach and his relentless focus on advancing the ball. Possessing a player like him, who exudes confidence with the ball, provides a multitude of attacking options.
  15. I concur that Sam Graham started off well, but he quickly faded into obscurity and became ineffective. I lost my regard for him after that, and when he returned for the second time, I seriously questioned the rationale behind it.
  16. The goal was a stunner, but the build-up was equally commendable. The patient approach appears to be increasingly adopted these days.
  17. He appeared rather ineffective for us, a tall, gangly defender who seemed to lack any sense of balance.
  18. The highlights from Forest Green are indeed impressive, with the low angle lending a contemporary feel to the match. It’s clear that Connell Rawlinson did clip their player, but it seems he was justified in his attempt, making the decision appear severe. Their player wasn’t poised to score a goal and even handled the ball after contact was made. If Rawlinson was the first to make contact, I would dispute the decision.
  19. The victory is paramount, and it’s evident that Forest Green Rovers put up a commendable fight. Despite appearing defeated before the second half, they demonstrated remarkable persistence. Particularly in the early stages of the second half, they performed exceptionally well to equalise. However, we displayed our superiority thereafter, treating their comeback more as a wake-up call. We mustn’t become complacent during matches like these, but it’s reassuring to know we possess the quality to turn things around. Even at 35, David McGoldrick is proving to be a sophisticated addition to the squad!
  20. Hello, welcome to PON @Ryan Raynor. Jump in with the content when you can.
  21. The podcast does discuss potential amendments that could enhance the situation regarding debt in football. I concur that the deduction of points does dissuade some owners, but not all. In the future, such changes should be implemented across all clubs under FIFA’s regulations.
  22. Hello, and welcome to PON @Benji.
  23. Jimmy Sirrel was always deeply involved in training, maintaining his fitness by participating in team practices. The squad would train on The Embankment, adjacent to The River Trent, and I would observe their sessions from afar. Today’s players may not fully appreciate the privileges they enjoy.
  24. Welcome @Terri. PON is a good site and well worth visiting, welcome from me.
  25. My respect for Williams has grown even more after his reflections on the match. Criticizing aspects despite the win truly shows his commitment to growth and improvement, which is admirable. His approach in always looking to learn, even from a victory - that's something not many managers dare to do candidly. He's honest, practical, and always looking for ways to get better. Hats off to him.
