One of the great England performances to defeat Mexico this morning. Going down to 10 men early in the 2nd half & having to defend for dear life as the Mexican wave kept peppering the England goal. A dubious penalty awarded against England made it a very tense 30 odd minutes, but the England players to a man won through. Now England go to Miami to face Erling Haarland's Norway who scored two goals in their win over Brazil. It will be another difficult match, but who will bet against England now?

I didn't have a problem with Paraguay’s game plan. They were trying to frustrate, annoy & rattle France & the French bit & got wound up on several occasions. It affected their performance & effectiveness up front. Paraguay clearly thought that was their best chance to progress. It was ugly but it could have worked. The trouble was that when Paraguay crossed the line, they did so on several occasions, & the referee seemed weak because he did nothing. Some of their fouling deserved yellow cards during the game. It's ok to have a physical approach but going over the top with the physicality is something else.

A clean sheet for Notts. Two different teams in each half. A good save by Roos in the 2nd half to keep that clean sheet for Notts.

Notts team to face Alfreton.

Do we really want to take a risk on injury prone players again?

No surprise here. His form dropped off alarmingly after the new year. We need to see some incomings very soon.

Very unexpected and dissapointing news. Was hoping Notts would bring him home but his expected wage level would be far too much for Notts. Not sure whether he will fit into the Salford style of play on their very small pitch. We will just have to see how things develop as the season develops.

More VAR controversy when Croatia were denied an equaliser in injury time at the end of 90 minutes when VAR intervened, & it was deemed that the ball lightly touched the tip of the Croatian player's hair, which was measured by a Snickometer (sensor in the ball) in order to disallow a goal. The Ref originally gave the goal to wild Croatian celebrations. Is this the way we really want the beautiful game to go?
