  1. @super_ram The purple four were quite hard to work out.
  2. Notts need to try to stop the crosses coming in from open play if at all possible. Bromley free kicks & corners will be just as dangerous too. When they do threaten Martin needs to ensure Griffiths is in goal to deal with it behind a good experienced defence. Notts need to stop giving the ball away in dangerous positions. If Tsaroulla venchers forward Notts need to ensure the space he creates at the back is covered. For this match I would start with a flat back four with conventional wingers. Tsaroulla on the left, Cotter on the right with Macari, McDonald, Aljofree, & Bedeau in the back four.
  3. @Piethagoram I get your point. I'd rather Notts have 70% possession & do something useful with it like they did against Shrewsbury, & replace Roos asap so we can handle the 30%
  4. You make a good point @theAnticlough & I too would have been inclined to have Jatta on the bench for his first match after suspension just to keep a winning team together to start with. Just wondering if it will affect the team & fan base Psychology, him being injured. Listening to Martin I get the impression we won't be seeing any new striker in either.
  5. Revised list of injuries.Scott Robertson. Lucas Ness. Mai Traore Matty Platt. Jaden Luker Alassana Jatta. Back spasm.
  6. This is bad news for Notts.Apparently he has a back spasm, so he is out of the Notts squad against Bromley.
  7. A team can have 70% of the ball, but it's how they use that 70%. If they spend most of the possession passing the ball between defenders & midfield, but don't have any sort of worthwhile penetration, it will come to nothing, unless the opposition make a mistake at the back. If the opposing team has just 30% of possession, but makes the most of it by being incisive & dangerous when it breaks with pace, & the team with 70% keeps making mistakes at the back, the team with only 30% will most likely win the match. Having the most possession counts for nothing if you don't do anything worthwhile with it. We've seen that play out too many times at ML in recent years.
  8. Notts have missed a trick not bringing Archie back to ML, but I do wish him luck at Morecambe. I think he will do a good job for them between the sticks.
  9. The HC should set up a formation that will most likely succeed against a particular team employing a particular tactic. A set up & tactic that is most likely to get the win on the day. Not a formation, & tactic that a particular player is comfortable with. I think that players should be able to play in any formation if asked to do so. There will be plenty of preparation on the training ground. That's the coaches job to ensure players are prepared for any eventuality. A team that is flexible & can counter any tactic that an opponent can muster is a team that is most likely to be successful over the season.

  16. I do feel that we will be able to see where Notts are when they meet Bromley on Saturday. If Notts can put in a good performance against a side that is currently unbeaten after four games, & come away with a win, I will be very encouraged for Notts's prospects for climbing up the league 2 table after such a slow start. Mind you, It will be a tough game & Notts need to cut out the silly errors that we saw against Shrewsbury during the game. Bromley will take full advantage & could punish Notts if Notts give away possession in dangerous areas. Notts also need to work on defending crosses into their penalty area, which they have failed to do, during matches, so far this season. Notts are very capable of getting a positive result on Saturday. They just need to be focused & alert for the full 90+ minutes. They have also proved that they can score goals when their attack is on song. So all we need is a good all round performance & Notts should get another win
  17. It was a good win & an emphatic win too. We saw periods of good Notts play, but also periods when they looked disjointed & gave away the ball quite a lot. Hopefully the win will give the team lots of confidence. A much better assessment of where the team will be is when they meet Bromley on Saturday. We have Jatta returning so him coming back should give Notts more of a threat.
  18. I would like to see Notts adopt a 4-4-2 formation. This would give Notts more defensive solidarity. I don't think it would impede the Notts possession based identity to any degree, but I do think the formation can give the Notts team more flexibility with their shape & tactics during a match.
  19. It was great to get our first win of the season. Some of the Notts play was exquisite & reminded me of the way Notts used to play in the National League. Hopefully, the win is going to give the players plenty of confidence especially the goalscorers. It was a good team performance & several players stood out for me like Tsaroulla, Dennis, Jones & Iorpenda. It was a positive evening but I do think that we have to guard the fact that the opposition wasn't the best Notts have faced this season, & there were times when Notts gave the ball away carelessly at the back & a better team may have punished them. But a win is a win, & Notts can look forward to the game on Saturday against Bromley with renewed vigor. They just need to tighten up at the back & stay focused for the whole 90 minutes.
  20. @Fan of Big Tone The game isn't consistent in what kind of answers it's looking for sometimes.
