Who's your Man of the Match v Bromley?
The poll has now closed. Thank you to the 63 members who voted. It was a close vote with two players , Matt Dennis & Matty Palmer, sharing the majority of the votes. I am pleased to announce that by a small majority Matt Dennis has been voted as the Pride of Nottingham's Man of the Match against Bromley.

Morecambe manager, perhaps Notts should have recruited from within?
He has plenty of coaching qualifications, but this Head Coach job he's taken on at Morecambe is his first at senior level and he doesn't have first team League 2 experience at all. I wish him luck at Morecambe where he can get some National League Managerial experience. That's what he needs, then he needs to have some success. I hope he does.

Matthew Dennis Strikes Twice but Bromley Deny Notts County Victory
I think Notts have great asset in Matt Dennis. It's not just the fact that he can score goals, he can create good opportunities for himself as well as putting away chances given to him by others. It's not just him scoring goals that impressed me about him either, he works so hard on the pitch creating space for others, & just doing the things that decent strikers do to bring others into the play. It was a shame about the two goals that Bromley scored, because the way the team played in the first half gives cause for encouragement. Hopefully as every match goes by the players will become much more comfortable together & the sloppy play at the back will diminish. I would still love to see three new players recruited. A goalkeeper, a playmaker & a striker.

Questions, Questions.
I do like some of the improvements that the owners have made, the infrastructure improvements to the stadium, such as the safe standing area. The Nest will become a money maker when it starts making a profit after the money spent to build it is paid for, same goes for the paddle courts. Whether the Nest and the paddle courts were necessary, I do think that they are popular & well used & attended., however, as far as the Hybrid pitch at ML is concerned, I do have reservations about its construction at this point in time. Wrexham didn't feel a need for one until they reached the Championship. A new Hybrid pitch is also being installed at the Highfields training area in a joint venture with the University of Nottingham. League 2 clubs are allowed to spend 50% of their turnover on player related expenditure, which includes wages, transfers, and agents' fees. If the club invests wisely in good quality players, that investment can pay dividends in several ways. The Club has a much better chance of achieving promotion & if they do, the players in turn will become more valuable. If the Club is doing well, the club will earn more revenue through the turnstiles. The club will also earn more TV revenue. The Club will also earn more in advertising & merchandise sales. So investing for success on the field of play does have a big payoff by swelling the financial coffers, which in turn increases the turnover & revenue that can be further used to invest more on even better players.

Progress Report
@Wheelbarrow repair man I do question the amount of money spent on the infrastructure, particularly the playing surface at ML. I thought the original pitch was adequate & one of the best in the League. Up to a £million spent on the new pitch instead of investing in quality players at this level, could have made the difference in getting promoted or not especially last season. For me, the priority should have been success on the pitch, not a new pitch.

Wordle 1,528 5/6 ⬜⬜🟨⬜⬜ ⬜🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩⬜🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩- Progress Report
If you had asked me the question after the loss in the playoff semifinal that despite the loss Notts had made progress, I would have yes, of course we have. The progress was steady from the time that we returned to League 2. At this very moment I think Notts have regressed slightly after the turn around of 22 players which has made the team a little disjointed & less cohesive. I do believe that Notts can quickly get back on the right track once again, but I do think it will take a little time for the players to gel together into a well oiled unit. I've been encouraged by the team when they have played well in parts against Shrewsbury & Bromley, but the mistakes & sloppiness at the back is concerning & needs to be addressed quickly. At this present time I'd rate the squad 6/10 because Notts haven't been outplayed in any game & the goals we've conceded are more from the mistakes Notts have made rather than great play by our opponents. Notts have to aim for a rating of 8/10 to have a playoff plus chance so there has to be some improvement especially with the defence. This will come with familiarity & maybe a decent goalkeeper, striker & playmaker being recruited.- Sound Advice ?
Interesting subject @Wheelbarrow repair man I would advise young people leaving school just like myself all those years ago, to concentrate on either their further educational studies, or on a career & stay single for 10 years before thinking of getting a partner or marriage. I met my first wife at 18 & had a mortgage & child in tow at 20 which is a young age by today's standards. I think the young people of today have it even harder than we did, trying to build a family with the price of housing today. I do regret getting hitched so early & like you WBRM my first marriage didn't last either.- Everton's new stadium
I think the new Everton stadium is just another soulless bowl like the Arsenal & Spurs stadiums. Unfortunately nowadays they want to build these stadiums that lack identity & you can't tell one from the other apart from the colour scheme. Goodison park had its own identity & also had bags of history & memorable moments. Who can ever forget the classic 1966 World Cup quarterfinal between N Korea & Portugal at Goodison Park. Korea were 3:0 up but lost to Portugal 3:5 but Eusebio scored 4 goals in a great comeback by Portugal. A football ground is much more than a place to sit down & watch your team. It is a place that creates a sense of identity & belonging & brings people together. It brings with it a unique atmosphere that is unique to every traditional football ground up & down the Country. - Connections game
