It's a real shame that the airport is closing. I used to go to a school in Tollerton from the early 60s, & the Head Mistress would tell us stories of Americans who were stationed at the RAF base there, who would stop & give sweets to the kids in the school playground if the teachers weren't around when they were passing the school.

I think that Stuart Maynard has generally got the balance right here. Last season we were leaking goals like a sieve & it just wasn't sustainable. I think that some of the fans get frustrated because Notts had to cut out some of their attacking flair for the sake of improving in defence. But it was the right thing to do & Stuart has to take great credit for being able to manage that balance successfully.

The afternoon weather wise was much better. The cloud cover disappeared and the sun came out & in the sun it was very pleasant. This afternoon I was busy in the kitchen giving the kitchen window & surrounds a good clean for the wife. Wife wants me to apply some new sealant around the window frame, so I was preparing the window frame to do that.

I think that Zak does a reasonable job at League 2 level, but he hasn't really stood out in the Notts team quite yet As @menzinho as said he has a tendency to switch off which has at least cost us a couple of goals. If all our defensive players were fit I think he would struggle to get into the first team I do think that he would be very good at National League level. Maybe he could be loaned out to a NL team next season. He's a young player still learning his trade & I'm sure he's learning quite a lot at Notts & is getting the experience he needs.

@menzinho I have wondered if Stuart should play Hinchy next to Palmer & put Abbott in the number ten role. Abbott has the talent to play in that role at this level. Playing Abbott in front of Matt might work very well for Notts.

Favourite Player Right Now? Alassana Jatta. He can score goals in different ways either with his head, or as a poacher, or by splitting defences. He's been a great replacement for Macca Most Consistent Performer So Far? Matty Platt. He has been an absolute rock at the back for Notts. Rising Star in the Squad [Not Including Loanees]? Charlie Whittaker. I think he could become a very good player for Notts. Most Improved Player Recently? Jack Hinchy. I think he's been unfortunate not to have a regular place in the side. Best Player in Each Position? Bass, Macari, Platt Bedeau, Austin, Palmer, Abbott, Tsaroulla, Whitaker, McGoldrick, Jatta. I would have included Jones for Tsaroulla but he's been injured quite a lot. Who is your all-time favourite Notts County player & why? Don Masson. He was an artist in the middle of the field. Played in all four divisions for Notts. I have just listened to Stuart's pre Wimbledon presser & non of the injured players that are currently out of the Notts side will be available for selection for the match on Saturday. So it appears that it will be a similar side that lost to Barrow on Tuesday. I would like to see Tsaroulla & Grant start this match because they did make a difference when they came in against Barrow. I'm hopeful about Notts's chances as they seem to play better away where they get more room to attack than at Meadow Lane, where the opposition just sit back. There certainly needs to be an improvement in performance & Notts need to show that they want it, because they didn't for long periods against Barrow. At this stage Notts need to just avoid defeat & prevent Wimbledon from winning at all costs.

@Chris I may be wrong about this but I've never experienced a player wanting to move purely for family reasons. Maybe in the lower leagues but not in the PL or Championship. The will to better yourself, increase your wages and get trophies has always been the driving force for the vast majority of players. I always thought that Dan was above the 4th tier & when he moved from Notts he would go up the tiers rather than sideways.

@Chris Swindon Town is the perfect example why we need to have an independent football regulator as soon as possible to ensure that every new club owner is checked out for suitability. Having the power to force an owner to sell a club or ban individuals for life would be a big step forward. It shouldn't be left to the Premier League & EFL to check out new owners & Directors as they do now. Their due diligence on new owners is clearly not dilligent enough.

@Chris I'm so glad that I have a car. I just couldn't travel on public transport nowadays. When my car is serviced, I either walk into town, get a taxi or friends & family help out.

Matt Palmer is a great midfielder at this level for Notts. I think he has been one of our most consistent players this season behind Matty Platt, Jacob Bedeau & George Abbott. I don't think that we have seen the best out of Matt since he came back from injury though. I also think that playing alongside Ruben Rodriguez & Dan Crowley brought out the best in him. I'm wondering whether it may be worth bringing in Jack Hinchy to play alongside him & give George Abbott the number 10 role?
