  1. Bad news for Notts. Curtis Edwards likely to be out until Xmas.
  2. It's the third day of the match between Kent & Nottinghamshire from Canterbury. Kent will resume their second innings on 85/0 trailing Notts by 123 runs.
  3. Weather for Thursday Morning
  4. @liampie The Australian Magpies look bigger and their markings are different. Whether it's a friend or not, I wouldn't put my face close to that big beak of his.
  5. Good luck with your new job & place at Nottingham University @Joshua
  6. I've heard that Magpies remember a human face, so it is a good idea to get eye contact with a magpie and they will remember you. They are very intelligent birds but can get aggressive if they are nesting, & they will kill other birds & even their chicks. But they are very beautiful birds and it's a shame that they have a bad reputation. Magpies in Australia are even more aggressive than they are here. They are a different species of bird though. I found this cute story about a magpie befriending a girl.
  7. I would love to see a decent cup run. I think we are about due one. The squad is strong and Notts can field an alternative strong first 11 if necessary, with a mixture of first teamers, plus Reynolds, Cisse & Sanderson on the bench in the first two rounds I cannot see that a long cup run would be detrimental to success in League 2. For all said and done, Wrexham did it & it didn't stop them getting promoted. I agree @Wheelbarrow repair man that League 2 takes priority, but it would be nice to draw a big club either home or away. More money in the coffers is always welcome. And it's a chance for the rest of the squad & the young ones, to make a name for themselves.
  8. With a much stronger Notts County Squad this season, would you like to see a long FA Cup run? Man City or Man U & Co at Meadow Lane in the 3rd Round would be mouthwatering & a money spinner with the large crowd & TV revenue.
  9. Just looked at the latest forecast & they are now saying rain is moving in from the south on Friday. Where did that come from? The seven day forecast on Monday said it would be fine for the weekend. Ah well
  10. I wonder if Notts do the same rigourous checks with trialists that they do with players they want to sign. I always thought the player asked for a trial at his own expense. If this is true then it's a no loss situation for Notts. Better to reject a trialist than get landed with a player they've signed but it doesn't work out. But they are stuck with that player or have to send him out on loan.
  11. Sorry to read you are feeling unwell Get well soon @TheSkipper
  12. @liampie Dixie only played 9 times for us that season. According to Wiki he was out with injuries. If he had been fully fit I'm sure he would have played a lot more times & scored many goals for us in the Third Division South. Dean scored 3 goals in Notts's first six matches.
  13. End of the days play and Kent are 85/0 in the 2nd innings following on still 123 runs behind Notts . Notts probably should have batted and extended the lead.
  14. @gtownjohnno Ahmed looks a great prospect. Trouble is, if he gets into the England side with a central contract, Notts would lose him for most of the time like they did Graham Swann. Central contracts should go, so Duckett & Stone can play for Notts regularly.
  15. The game with Gillingham is going to be our toughest yet this season. This match will tell us much about Notts's promotion credentials. I would play our strongest available 11 to start the match, that would be Bass, Macari, Bedeau, Platt, Tsaroulla, Palmer, Abbott, Crowley, Jones, McGoldrick & Jatta, Tsaroulla would be the left wing back & Jones right wing McGoldrick supporting Jatta up front. Those selections are subject to all being fit . The key areas for Notts will be as always, in defence. Notts have to try to stop the unnecessary mistakes at the back because Gillingham will b looking for them with their high press. If Notts can stay firm at the back, I will back our attacking prowess, to find a way through during the match. I'm going for a low scoring game. A 1:0 to Notts would be great, but I wouldn't be disappointed with a draw.
  16. Tea has been taken. Brilliant bowling by Notts, they have bowled Kent out during the session. Kent 225 all out. Young Ahmed featured taking 4 for 37 Kent trail by 208 runs & Notts have enforced the follow on.
  17. Another great article about the perspective of an opposition fan. Gillingham have made a good start to the season & I'm sure they will be up near the top of the table challenging for promotion or a playoff space at season's end. The Gillingham match will be a tough match. Gillingham are very good defensively, & they are a good footballing side. Notts won't have it all their way possession wise in the match but that could play into Notts's hands because Notts have shown they are good on the break . Notts just need to ensure they don't make defensive mistakes, because Gillingham will be looking for them. If Notts play to their best, as they have shown for the last few matches, Notts should get the win on Saturday. Somehow I don't think it will be a high scoring game. A 1:0 win for Notts would be a great result.
  18. Lunch Kent are 60 for 2 Luke Fletcher has both wickets
  19. Good morning everyone. Misty morning here but the mist has risen & the clouds look like they are breaking up a little. It is dead calm again & a little warmer than late. Hoping to get into the garden today, probably this afternoon.
  20. Update. Notts are 433 all out Notts take 4 batting points.
  21. Vote for Adam Rowe who's been nominated for goal of the month
