Today's team is out. No McGoldrick or Grant, but Austin, Tsaroulla & Gordon keep their places in the first eleven. It's a strong bench.

Stuart Maynard Prepares Notts County for Tough Port Vale Test: Alassana Jatta's Rising Influence
Alassana Jatta has been a revelation for Notts since he was signed in January. He is very good at being in the right place at the right time in the box either with his head or feet But Jatta also give Notts other options in attack, & also when Notts wants to relieve pressure at the back, or go long when on the attack. Jatta gives Notts an outlet to be able to do those things. As well as the influence of Jatta, Notts have a strong squad that Stuart can call on for each game. Notts were very weak last season regarding the squad, but now players can come on during a game & are capable of changing a game to Notts advantage. As I see it, those are the two big changes that we have seen from last season, Jatta & the strength of the squad. It gives Stuart so many more options, that he can play with.

So Who Is The Greatest?
I was always a heavy rock fan and I think the period between 1969 & 1976 the heavy rock scene was at its best in my opinion. My most favourite group was Uriah Heep & their line up between 1969 &1975 were my favourite. My second favourite band was Deep Purple of the same period. As for the greatest guitarist, Hendrix takes some beating but his career was short, which is a pity. My favourite & I think the best Guitarist is Richie Blackmore of Deep Purple. His guitar riffs are fantastic. I also rate Mick Box of Uriah Heep highly too. The best drummer I've seen Ginger Baker who was a member of Cream. I also think Ian Paice of Deep Purple is pretty good too. The best vocalist is difficult because there are so many great ones. I don't think that most will agree because they have their favourites. Because I was into heavy rock my favourite is Ian Gillan of Deep Purple, with David Byron of Uriah Heep not far behind. If you pushed me for the best I'd go for Freddy Mercury. The best bassist is more difficult but there are two that I felt were pretty good, John Deacon of Queen & Eric Haydock, an original member of the Hollies. If I had to choose the best I'd go for John Deacon of Queen. I don't think we should forget key boards. Ken Hensley was pretty good on the Keyboards. I think Rick Wakeman of Yes is the best keyboard player.

Match Preview: Can Notts County Maintain Momentum Against In-Form Port Vale?
If Notts play to their strengths & their recent form, I'm confident that Notts will get a result today, however it will be a close match & Notts need to start well & not concede early. I will go with a 2:1 win for Notts.

Weekly Chat 30th Sept to 6th Oct.
Good morning. It's a sunny morning here with just small amounts of cloud, but it's a chilly morning. Going to the Doctors this morning for my flu jab. Then I've got to change my left front tyre. Looks like I have a puncture. Thank goodness I have a small tyre compressor I can attach to my 12 volt connection. Must have a nail in the tyre or something like that. I'll see if it can be repaired first as it's a relatively new tyre. Not the best way to start a Saturday morning, but things can only get better

Your Saturday Morning Weather- Match Discussion: Game 10 - The Valiants (H)
It's Matchday. CMON U PIES- Notts County's Tactical Evolution: Maynard’s Insights Before Facing Port Vale
I listened to the interview intently, & one of the things I've learned is that Notts will go direct & use the long ball tactic when it is necessary. I believe that is very good news & demonstrates that Stuart will change tactics & style of play during a match when it is necessary. Notts will not be predictable as they have been over the last few years & the opposition won't be able to settle into just countering Notts playing from the back. For me this demonstrates more than ever that Stuart Maynard was a brilliant pick by the owners, & Notts are benefitting from what he has brought to the Club.- Opposition View: Lifelong Port Vale Fan Steven Crank Previews Notts County Clash
Nice interview again Chris getting the perspective of an opposition fan. I agree that it is going to be a close game with maybe the odd goal deciding it. I hope that Notts will get that deciding goal. Vale like to play football so I think that will suit Notts. Most teams will play the high press against Notts & Vale will be no exception. I do think that Notts can change their tactics & style if necessary under Maynard, which is a good advantage to have over the opposition. I think the score will be a win for Notts by the odd goal. 2:1 Notts.- Pre-Match Interview | Peterborough United (H) | Adam Dunleavy
This will be a tough match for Notts as Peterborough are one of the top four sides in the division with excellent players. Notts have much improved this season & if Notts can play at their best, it should be a closer game. The key will be not to concede early & try to frustate the posh & try to nick a goal on the break.- Nottinghamshire CCC Updates
Preparing for next season. Nottinghamshire have made a new signing. Pace Bowler, Conor McKerr from Surrey on a three year contract.- UK Weather Watch.
A Hurricane maybe heading out way. But by the time it teaches us it will be a Storm. Wonder if it will be named.- "I Believe We Can Push On": Kellan Gordon Eyes Success at Notts County
Gordon was a great capture for Notts when they managed to sign him. He will be an important part of the squad as the season progresses. With Jodi being injured Kellan's roll in the team will gain added significance. It is great that he is enjoying his football down at the lane. His presence in the team is another demonstration that the Notts squad is strong. This will bode well for Notts, with their ability to rotate players when they need to be rested or if squad members become injured.- UK Weather Watch.
