  1. The 2nd day of the match between Kent and Notts resumes with Notts on 396 for 6 from 96 overs.
  2. @Wheelbarrow repair man Getting back to the serious side, lots of films now feature the action hero. Gerard Butler films such as "Olympus has fallen", "London has fallen", & the modern Mission impossible franchise have all kind of copied the James Bond scenario. Now these type of films are just trying to out do each other for spectacular action shots & quick action. But there is a lack of character with the hero of the film, lack of a story line. The Die hard films went the same way, with the first one being the best, with Alan Rickman playing the classic baddie That's my take anyway. How about going back to the original Bond films with character actors & a storyline you can follow.
  3. Your Wednesday Morning Weather
  4. That's eight votes for Jodi now. I will close the poll on Friday 6 pm & announce the result afterwards on Friday evening. Looks like Jodi is the PON favourite for MOTM against Bromley but we'll see.
  5. @Wheelbarrow repair man The signature tune for Goldfinger is dramatic & the perfect intro for the Film. Shirley Bassey voice is just perfection, the way she sings it I liked Live & Let die. I think it was Roger Moore's best Bond Film. There again the Signature tune was perfect for the film too. I've watched a couple of the modern Bond films with Daniel Craig, but for me the action is too fast & the AI generated action sequences are too unbelievable for me. Would Bond really survive some of those stunts?
  6. A loss for Notts B tonight.
  7. We've seen this before. Not a good half for Notts B against National league step 6 side, Dunkirk FC tonight. Half time Dunkirk FC 3 Notts County B 0
  8. Not surprisingly, my favourite Bond is Sean Connery. It's like the books were written for Connery. His portrayal of Bond, his wicked wit, his toughness, ruthlessness, quick thinking & his unique charm as a ladies man was probably what Ian Fleming would have loved. Gert Frobe, who played Goldfinger acted the architypal villain so well, & both Connery & Frobe as hero & villain made the movie special, ably supported by Harold Sakata as Odd Job, Bernard Lee as M, Desmond Llewellyn as Q, Honor Blackman as ***** Galore & Shirley Eaton as Jill Masterson, the women who was painted Gold.
  9. @Wheelbarrow repair man Stuart has come along way already. This is not the team of last year. Half the team are newbies. This is Stuart's team and they will be playing for Stuart, not anyone else. We know Notts can lose at least 8 games & still get promoted. Wrexham were promoted with 10 losses If Notts lose more than 10 games this season I will be surprised. If they do, they can still make the playoffs Crawley lost 18 games, scraped into the playoffs & won promotion. Let's be positive. We have a great opportunity for honours this season. Time to give Stuart some credit for helping to build, then beginning to mould a side that can challenge for honours.
  10. On this day in 1964 Goldfinger was released. What is your favourite James Bond Movie? Who is your favourite James Bond?
  11. Notts have had some famous players, on their books since they were founded. The names are a role of honour of footballing greats. Some just roll off your tongue like Tommy Lawton, Jackie Sewell, Tony Hateley & Jeff Astle. They were strikers of renoun that played for big clubs as well as Notts. Lawton, Sewell, & Astle played for England too. But there is another golden great that broke all footballing records for Everton, yes the one & only Dixie Dean that came to Notts & stayed a year for the season 1938/39. Dixie played for Notts only 9 times & scored only three goals because injuries limited his appearances. Dixie played on the hallowed Meadow Lane for just a fleeting time, however, it must have been so awesome to see Dixie in those black and white stripes, even if he was past his best. Not many supporters outside of the Notts family will be aware that an old Evertonian played a cameo at Notts. But it did happen.
  12. Let's hope we can keep the unbeaten run going on Saturday. A win against Gillingham would be massive & it would send a message to the rest of the teams in the division that Notts are a team to be reckoned with this season.
  13. It's been a good day for Notts batting first. Notts finish the day on 393/6 with a century by Ben Slater & half centuries from Hameed & Haynes Every bonus point Notts can make is absolutely vital at this stage of the season Notts are close to getting 4 batting points when they teach 400 & one more if they reach 450 within 110 overs.
  14. Update. Notts are 342 for 4. Haynes is 50 not out.
  15. At the tea interval Notts are 271 for 3. Slater is 146 not out
  16. Good news to report at Lunch. Notts have not lost a wicket in the first session. Notts are 134 for 0.
  17. Nice video & put together so well as always. When you can't get to a match it's nice to be able to get a report like this from supporters like yourself while viewing the match like this. Showing the players entering the field & showing the scenes post goals, half time & full-time is a good touch too The pre match & post match analysis is excellent too. I particularly like the player ratings after the match. Onto the next match against the Gills.
  18. Brilliant performance by Notts after going 0:2 down very early. Kudos to the whole team & substitutes for the determination & drive to come back and win the match. Congratulations to Stuart Maynard too, for the team selection & timings of the substitutions.
