  1. @liampie sometimes if a player is in any doubt, kick it out or upfield. We can be pussyfooting around at the back to a high press then lose possession deep in our half. We had too much of that last season & we paid dearly. I loved the fact that Bass went direct & found Jatta who scored. We need to do a little more of that & keep our opponents guessing. But I do agree that a downside of blindly kicking the ball upfield does result in it coming back a lot of the time when a team is defending deep, like Notts were for a lot of the time in the second half. It's an interesting conundrum when a team is bent on defending its lead.
  2. Brilliant all round performance by Notts. I think it was the best performance of the season. The Notts attribute tonight. Skill & flair in the first half, grit, determination & stubbornness in the second half. That could be a great recipe for success this season.
  3. This side is Stuart Maynard's side & the side that he has built is proving very adaptable in changing styles and tactics if it is necessary. In the first half we saw the Notts County flair, in the second half we saw character, stubboness & grit to keep Carlisle out. Stuart has to take great credit in installing all these traits into the Notts team. He must be absolutely delighted with his players, & the owners must be delighted with him too
  4. Is Alex Bass the best signing of the season?
  5. Well done Jodi. Richly deserved.
  6. These Countries below are not going to follow the UK's example of shutting down it's coal fired electricity generation anytime soon if ever. Meanwhile they have a distinct advantage over British industry by having much cheaper energy to make their products. China last year generated over 60% of its electricity from coal. Many of these emissions end up being embedded in consumer products used in Britain. China is not the most coal intense economy, either. South Africa generates around 80 per cent of its power in this way, India 75 per cent & Indonesia 60 per cent. These are big users.
  7. Such a sad & unnecessary closing. The UK will be worse for it. As I've said in another thread. Other Countries will be laughing their socks off, with this delusional race to National self harm.
  8. This has been going on since July. If it is a Wallaby, it seems to be surviving ok. Question will be when it gets much colder or it becomes a harsh winter. Can it survive through the winter if it is not caught by then?
  9. @Wheelbarrow repair man Notts went route one last night and scored from it. Bass to Jatta, get in. Pep will be having a hissy fit.
  10. Football is a game of mistakes. Whoever makes the fewest mistakes wins." Johan Cruyff
  11. Notts County played in Division 3 South & Notts are a northern club. The South East has always had the most wealth in this Country. Nothing is ever going to change in that respect The metropolitan elite ensure that will always be the case unfortunately.
  12. Good Morning. The rain seems to have stopped this morning, although it was still raining through the night. The Sky is still overcast but there is no wind as such. Still buzzing after the Notts win at Carlisle. Things are beginning to look promising for Notts. Kudos to all the supporters who made such a long round trip.
  13. Chris Billy. Who played briefly for Notts in 1998 then Carlisle from 2003/7

  15. For me, that has to go down as the best performance of the season, & maybe the best performance under Stuart Maynard In the first half Notts dominated. Dan Crowley was superb once again, Scott Roberson came back as if he had never been away, & Alassana Jatta is something else up front for Notts. When he's in the team he gives Notts something extra. Th goal he scored was very well taken, but it came from a route one long pass from Bass. The second goal was a typical Notts well worked goal finished off superbly by Robertson. The second half was Notts having to show grit & determination to keep a spirited Carlisle at bay. A great defensive performance plus two World class saves from Bass, kept Carlisle at bay. Notts have demonstrated that they can show flair to open up defenses, but they can also show grit & determination & grind a result out if necessary, as they showed in that second half. Two wins & a draw since the narrow Gillingham defeat is a good way to bounce back & Notts are back to second in the league after nine matches.
  16. Tonight's two goals.

  18. The 12th man in full voice at the end of the match.
  19. Notts back to second place after nine games, one point behind Gillingham.
  20. This was a great performance by Notts tonight. All the players deserve to be on the shortlist & it was hard to pick one, so tonight I have chosen a shortlist of 8 out of the 14 players that played tonight. From the goalkeeper, to the defensive unit, to the midfield & attacking unit they were all superb in my opinion. I have decided to award Alex Bass the man of the match award for his second half performance, especially in that last 30 minutes, with two world class saves to prevent Carlisle from coming back into the game. Special mentions for Dan Crowley, Scott Robertson, Alassana Jatta, & Matty Platt for being the pick of the rest. But there wasn't much in it for all the 11 who started tonight.
  21. Here is your shortlist for the Notts man of the match. Matty Platt, Scott Robertson, Alassana Jatta, Dan Crowley, Sam Austin, Alex Bass, Matt Palmer or Jacob Bedeau.
  22. A brief message from the boss post Carlisle.
