  1. @Wheelbarrow repair man In my opinion, if he is fit Jatta has to start every game. Didzy should come on after 60 minutes if the situation requires. Didzy should start the occasional match, but he must be looked after Brown needs to get some game time, he's fast and strong and will give Stuart more options. As far as Scott is concerned, I agree that he doesn't look fully fit & he wasn't available for the Bromley match so his injury against Accrington must be more than we were led to believe. I think Notts missed a trick not signing a striker they wanted, but as I have said, re my preamble, I think we have the players in the squad to supply our strikers with the opportunities for them to score plenty of goals. We have Crowley, Jones, Grant & Edwards that can chip in too, so as long as the defence do their job, we should be winning plenty of matches.
  2. Your right Chris, whole milk is not whole milk at all. It has nearly all the cream taken out of it. Skimmed milk is more like coloured water than milk.
  3. The reason I chose Jatta is because he was a game changer. He came on & Notts scored 3 goals. His presence created space which resulted in opportunities for the rest of the players like Jodi & Dan to exploit that extra space and time to create even more opportunities.
  4. In the 60s, when you had a bottle of milk delivered it would have cream at the top. If customers had two or three bottles of milk delivered they would take cream off the top and whisk it to put top of trifles or on treats. Whole milk today is nothing like the "whole milk" of the sixties, which was whole milk that including the cream. . Cream is a big by product of milk & the companies want to make money on it. That's one of the big reasons for separating the cream from the milk.
  5. What makes a good Striker? It goes without saying that a good striker needs to have a combination of technical & physical skills, as well as tactical awareness. They also need to be able to read the game & make quick decisions under pressure. They need to have the ability of being in the right place at the right time. They need to be fit, strong & have plenty of energy to run into space & create space for others. A good striker should be able to link up well with other teammates, hold up the ball & maintain possession. Strikers should have good ball striking abilities & be good in the air. They should also be able to help in defence when required. A striker can have all these attributes, but they also need teammates that can work with them well & supply them with good service & plenty of goalscoring opportunities. For example, McGoldrick & Jatta have both had good starts to the season. They both have many of those attributes I have described, but they do need to have good service too. And they both need to be able to fit into the Notts style of play comfortably, which they are clearly doing The point I'm trying to make is that every player in a good team has their role to play. If all the players are on the same wavelength, the strikers will get plenty of opportunities to score plenty of goals. Strikers just need to have those good attributes to play their part in the side & to be able to take those opportunities when they come After all, it's a team game.
  6. Good Morning. Good start to the morning but it's clouded over here & now raining. It looks set for a while too Was thinking about cutting the grass today, but that idea has gone for today. Nice end to Saturday with the away win at Bromley. Hope the Notts women can get a win over Mansfield Town Women today in the Notts senior cup. Notts are a league tier above Mansfield so on paper Notts should get a win.
  7. @Wheelbarrow repair man It's helping my brain memory at least. A few more. The Prisoner Dangerman Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Sorry with Ronnie Corbett Open all hours with Ronnie Barker. Did we mention? "Softly Softly" a police drama "Rising damp"
  8. It's Matchday at Coronation Park Eastwood. Notts FA County Cup
  9. @Fan of Big Tonewhen you mentioned Kojak I remembered more series from the 60s & 70s. "The Streets of San Francisco" "Ironside" My Dad liked to watch that. Then there was "Perry Mason" "Chips" "Fantasy Island" "Columbo" And one of my favourites "The Twilight Zone" Also "Cagney & Lacey" There must be more.
  10. Your Sunday Morning Weather
  11. @liampie Don nearly helped win the league title for QPR in 1975/76 season, just being pipped by Liverpool by 1 point I would say in today's money a midfielder of his stature would be worth £50 million plus in today's inflated prices
  12. Looks like we are going for it @Wheelbarrow repair man Did you "Watch with Mother" And there was "Andy Pandy", Hector's House Sir Francis Drake Tom & Jerry on for 10 minutes weekdays before the news at 9pm Stop the Pigeon The Flintstones The Pink Panther Scooby doo It's all coming back. Any more you can think of? "The Lovers" with Richard Beckinsale Spin off was George & Mildred
  13. @Wheelbarrow repair man It will be a big test next week against Gillingham at home. They have started well too, and it will be a mouthwatering top of the table clash. It will show how far Notts have come from last season if they can put in a good performance & win well. It will be a tough game, but Notts do have a strong squad, a mean defence & good defensive midfielders. It's a cliché but Notts have to cut out the defensive errors to an absolute minimum. If in doubt kick it out or upfield to Jatta. He does give Notts an outlet when he's playing rather than McGoldrick.
  14. I'll take that. Not far off the middle of the table. Everything to play for Well done to @super_ram your following in Notts's shoes.
  15. @Wheelbarrow repair man I remember a few more The Comedians. (They wouldn't do a show like that anymore) Pans People morphed into Ruby Flipper. Can you remember "Flipper" about a clever Dolphin? The "littlest hobo", about a roaming dog. Lassie, about a clever dog "Champion the wonder horse" about a clever horse Crikey, it's all coming back.
  16. @Wheelbarrow repair man Lots of 60s & 70s TV series I liked, including your list Supercar Fireball XL5 77 Sunset Strip The FBI The Fugitive Department S Jason King Man in a Suitcase The Man From UNCLE The Saint The Avengers The Virginian The Lone Ranger Rawhide The Rifleman The New Avengers The Six Million Dollar Man The Goodies Steptoe & Son UFO Space 1999 Land of the Giants The Time Tunnel Mission Impossible. TV series. Those are the ones I remember.
  17. I always knew that Notts could be very dangerous with hitting teams on the break & it looks like Stuart Maynard wants to exploit this to the full. What a team goal this was.
  18. In my opinion my shortlist would be, Platt. A towering figure in defence once again. Jatta. Came on in the second half & changed the game. Dangerous up front but helped out in defence when Notts were under pressure in the 2nd half. Jones. Dangerous in the first half, won the penalty & made the game safe with the late goal. Abbott, not as influential as against Accrington, but still a solid performance. My Man of the Match goes to Jatta for changing the game. Just demonstates how good our squad is this season.
  19. So who's your Notts Man of the match against Bromley today? Give your short list then your winner.
  20. This is a good stat & Stuart Maynard may have something to do with it.
  21. Happy birthday @ARLukomski A birthday to remember in more way than one. Have a great end to the day.
  22. This side oozes character and you just cannot right them off even with such a disastrous start, going two goals down. Yes, we saw two defensive errors, something that has plagued Notts last season, but they held firm after that, then replied with four goals without reply. This Notts team never know when they are beaten, & with our flair up front most sides in this division will fear us Jodi Jones with two goals, & Jatta scoring once again for Notts, not forgetting Crowley from midfield too. Our substitutions are now changing matches too which is a big difference to last season. If something isn't working, Stuart can change it. Onward Notts go, now top of the league. Let's keep our feet firmly on the ground. There will be much better teams to play, but I think this squad of players will only get better as the season progresses.
  23. NOTTS ARE TOP OF THE TABLE
