David McGoldrick: ‘It Wasn’t My Greatest Performance, But Two Goals and a Win Are What Matters'
David McGoldrick is going to play a big part in our season. The two goals he scored were pure class, & they came out of nothing. David will start games, but he will also be on the subs bench too. That is the sign of having a strong squad, when a player can come on, or even start a game, & change that game. David will keep pushing for a starting 11 spot, I think Jatta will have something to say about that. But healthy competition for places makes the whole squad play better & will give Stuart a big headache. A headache he will want. Notts showed a different side to their game on Saturday. The flair game was replaced, by the grit and determination to grind out a result game. And Didzy was able to play his part brilliantly.

A Statement From The Notts County Board of Directors.
A Head Coach, assisted by his recruitment team can buy players in that might look good on paper, but the question always is, no matter what team, can the Head Coach get the players to gel together & mould them into a successful team? I think that Stuart Maynard can. I hope I'm right, but the early signs look good.

Memory Lane for Fan of Big Tone
Tony Hateley at the beginning of his career helped Notts to promotion, then approximately ten years later was influential in helping Notts to gain promotion once again after coming back to his boyhood club. And Colin Slater was there to witness both occasions. I'd like to think that Colin is looking down from above & likes what he is seeing from Notts as they try to achieve promotion this year too.

Weekly Chat 26th August- 1st September
Good Morning everyone. Overcast here this morning,no wind, had some welcome rain for the garden last night. Meteorological summer as ended apparently. That's another one gone. Feeling good after the Notts victory yesterday. Just the manner of the win was most satisfying. If a side can win a match in different styles & ways, it's very encouraging. Back to today, breakfast then helping wife put up some new curtains for the living room. Not much else planned for the day, but I'm sure that may change.
