Anglo-Italian Cup Memories.
Yes. Notts were the only English team to win when it was revamped in the 1990s. Notts were in two finals out of the four that were contested at that time. I do believe it would be a good idea to bring it back for tier two sides down to tier 4 in both Countries. There is much more money in the game now & it would generate much needed finance for lower tier sides.

Notts County’s Luke Williams on Team Performance: ‘We Cannot Be So Scared to Play Football’
I believe Luke is the best Manager to take us forward and possibly get us into the playoffs at the end of the regular season. I love to see passion in a Manager and Luke has lots of that. I believe it only needs the right players to come in at the January window to turn our fortunes around, and I want some of Luke's passion transferred into the way we play too. In the new year, I'd like to see the 50 point mark achieved first then push on from there.

MAGnet Links - Doncaster Rovers
In the distant past there was a certain Tom Keetley who became a prolific goalscorer for both Doncaster Rovers and Notts County From 1923 to 1929 Tom played for Rovers scoring 180 goals from 231 appearances. Tom moved to Notts in 1929 till 1933 where he scored 94 goals from 103 appearances.

Anglo-Italian Cup Memories.
The Anglo-Italian Cup was a competition played intermittently between English and Italian clubs between1970 and 1996. In total Italian clubs won 15 and English clubs 6, Notts County being one of the only 6 English clubs to win it. The competition proved lucrative for Notts County, reaching two finals and winning in the 1994/95 season. Incidentally, Notts were the only English winners when the competition was held on four consecutive years in the 1990s Sadly the tournament was discontinued after the 1995/96 season.

Match Discussion: Game 24 - Rovers (H)
I agree. Doncaster will have improved since then, but these are the matches that we have to win, and this match is vital to see us end our run of defeats. I'm confident that we will do just that on boxing day, hopefully in front of a big crowd.

Match Discussion: Game 24 - Rovers (H)
If everyone has come through the Stockport match unscathed, I would keep the same team. We witnessed a much better performance and if things had gone our way we could have easily have won the match on Friday night. We played really well when we last played Doncaster at their place when we won 3:1. We should never take any team in League 2 lightly, every match is going to be tough, Doncaster will be firing on all cylinders to make amends for their early season loss to us. But this is a great opportunity to continue our form at Stockport and get back to winning ways. The key areas for us will be our defence, where we need to cut out the silly errors. I'm confident we are going to win this. My score would be 3:1 with Maca getting a brace.

Welcome Stanfordpie
Hello @StanfordPie Welcome to PON. Great to have you onboard.

Steve Cooper sacked
The Successful clubs are the club's that hold on to good Managers and Head Coaches. I believe that nowadays there is much more pressure put on Managers at such an early stage than in the past, especially from the media and punditry. Statistically, changing a Manager when a team is in big trouble doesn't tend to save them from the drop anyway.

Late Drama Unfolds as Notts County Falls Short Against Stockport County
On the whole it was a much better performance by the lads tonight. We needed to be near our best and I believe we were. Unfortunately we once again became undone with silly errors. I am encouraged to see that we are still scoring goals in virtually every game we play. Cut out the silly errors defensively and we can still finish in and around the playoffs. January transfer window will probably decide our season.

Match Discussion: Game 23 - The Hatters (A)
I thought it would be a score draw tonight. Like you pleased with the performance and it could have easily turned out a much better result tonight.

Match Discussion: Game 23 - The Hatters (A)
Agree. We competed very well with them. We know we can score against any team in this league & we did again tonight. Cut down those goals conceded then we can start winning matches again & rise up that table.

Pop Charts, Xmas Number 1
It was Band Aid. Do they know it's Xmas Wham got to number 2 that year

Match Discussion: Game 23 - The Hatters (A)
Much better performance, punished for silly mistakes at the back again. Stockport are a top side and we gave them problems. Have to take our chances though. Transfer window gets more and more important. We need two defenders, a defensive midfielder and a striker. Sort out the mistakes and we will make the play offs.

Defying Speculation: Luke Williams’ Commitment to Notts County
I heard Luke has been linked to the Swansea job too over the last few days. It's the usual media speculation. Luke has a project to complete at Notts and I hope he stays with Notts and he continues to make history here.

Macualay Langstaff Reflects on a Remarkable Year for Notts County
One thing is for sure, Maca has been making history of his own, by his record goal scoring that gave us back our league status, and his continued success at this higher level. Long may it continue.

Match Discussion: Game 23 - The Hatters (A)
Our defence is going to be key tonight. I'm sure Luke has been working on this flat out in training. I genuinely believe that if the opposition do not score we can win every single game we play. We have arguably the best attacking force in the league. If our defence had played anywhere near to what they could have done, we could have been leading this league by several points by now. I'm hoping for a draw tonight because that would be an excellent result for us. Stockport, apart from their 8:0 win, have been leaking goals of late, so a score draw could be a possibility. If we are still in a playoff position at the end of the year that would still be a success, with the January transfer window approaching.

Luke Williams Reflects on Midseason and Expresses Respect for Stockport County
I truely believe that when we look back at Luke's tenure, & I trust it is going to be a long one, he is going to be ranked alongside Jimmy & Neil for what he has done for this Club. But for me, it is not just about results, it's also about the man himself, and he shares with them both a passion for the club as well has his skills as a manager.

Welcome to PON Robbie_64!
Thanks for the welcome. I've been a supporter for many years, attending my first match in 1967. A lot of River trent water under the bridge since then.
