Paterson is working his players hard & he's also setting them improvement targets. By the evidence of the first two competitive matches this season, what he is doing is certainly working so far. The players are working to his system of playing & they are definitely playing for him which is a very positive thing.

I don't want Jodi to go. I agree that we need flair players to give us something extra. Cal Roberts is that type of player. We've only seen two competitive games but it's enough to see there has been a sea change in the style. Against the weaker League 1 teams we may see a little more flair from the team. But generally we are not going to dominate teams possession wise as we did in League 2. Jodi may not want to be an impact player off the bench, but if he stayed that could be his role.

Luton finished in seventh place in League 1 last season after being relegated from the Championship the previous season. They missed out on a playoff place by just one point. This season they are tipped to be one of the favourites for Promotion Luton finished last season unbeaten in their last five matches, winning four of the five & drawing the other. They have made a good start to this season winning both their matches scoring seven goals. Luton have made six notable signings in the pre season, one being striker Callum Marshall, a £1.75 million signing from West Ham. Another was Kasey Palmer, a £580K signing from Hull City after a successful loan spell at Luton last season. It is going to be another difficult match for Notts against a side that has the money available to spend big at this level. Notts will have to work very hard all over the pitch as they did against Leicester last Saturday. Luton have demonstrated that they can score goals. Notts have only conceded two goals in their first two competitive matches, so it will be interesting to see how this match plays out. Can Notts continue with their good form defensively or will Luton be successful in unlocking the Notts defence? I think that this could be a harder match for Notts than the home game against Leicester last week. Notts were an unknown quantity against Leicester. The Notts side was full of new players with only 4 players from the side the played last season. I think the Luton Head Coach would have studied a video of the Notts v Leicester match & planned a way of countering the Notts tactics. On the other hand this Notts squad is a level up compared to the Notts squad of last season. The players are switched on and willing to work hard for Martin. Martin expects no less either, he's a tough task master & any shirkers will be given short shrift. The early signs are that Notts will be much meaner defensively and will be hard to break down. I think this match could easily end as a 0:0 or 1:1 draw to keep the Notts unbeaten run going.

I think that Patto is the type of head Coach who wants 100% commitment from his players in every game they play. A player having one good game in four or five just doesn't fit with his footballing philosophy. I also think that a player's attitude & how he performs on the training ground is another important aspect for Paterson. Players are always going to have an off game from time to time, but if they are showing commitment, & drive combined with plenty of energy & effort, I think that Paterson will respect that very much

I think that the Notts players should be very proud of their performance against Leicester. I think that it is the type of performance that could prove very successful for Notts in League One if they can repeat this style every game.
