Viking Sayings.
@liampie I've been interested in Viking History and Mythology ever since I saw a real Viking Longship, in a Museum in Trondheim Norway all the way back in 1968 when I was elven. There are plenty more sayings and if your interested I can list some more. And I'm sure you know the word Viking means Raider, and the Norse Warriors used to go a Viking. Heavy Rock Band Led Zeppelin, also wrote a Song about the Viking Invasion, titled the Immigrant Song. If you've not heard it, give it a Listen, it's on You Tube. You can also see a video of the Lyrics, which tells the Tale.

Pre Season Friendly: Notts County v Cardiff City
Unfortunately couldn't get to today's match. But hopeful to be at the Salford Game. Reading the Report (Cheers Robbie) and remarks from other Members it seems Notts still have things to sort out, but what is nice to see/read was the fact this was just a friendly, the Magpies kept fighting to the end and ended up snatching a Draw a never say die attitude, will stand Notts in good stead for the forth coming season.

Viking Sayings.
As people start to grow up their Parents influence begins to mould their Lives, Children are taught right from wrong and I believe it's every Parents wish their Children with have more than they had and have a Peaceful and Happy Life. Unfortunately Parents can't be there all the time and their Kids must learn from their own mistakes, make their own decisions and Live their own lives. As Parents we can only point our Children in the Right Direction, the Rest is Up To Them. It's then that Wisdom from Past Generations may help in certain situations and people begin to live their lives by a certain code. Peoples from the past the Vikings (Norse) Native Americans and the Anglo Saxons (to name just three) have sayings that they lived by. I'm Not saying the Young nowadays should follow all the Advice from the past, but certain sayings or phrases could help them in their lives. Here are few I like from the Norse (Viking) Era. Do Not Fear Death. For The Hour Of Your Doom Is Sealed And None May Escape It. Don't Look Back Your Not Going That Way. Respect Your Ancestors For You Are The Result Of A Thousand Loves. I Came Into This World, Covered In Another's Blood And I Am Prepared To Leave It In The Same Way. In The Darkest Hour When Demons Come, Call On Me Brother And We Will Fight Them Together. Woman, I Do Not Protect You Because You Are Weak, I Protect You Because You Are Important To Me. The More Folks Stand In The Way Of Two Hearts That Yearn For Each Other, The Hotter The Flame Of Love Waxes. Life Isn't Fair. Get Used To It. Speak Useful Words Or Be Silent. I Never Lose. I Either Win Or Learn. If They Stand Behind You, Protect Them. If They Stand Beside You, Respect Them, If They Stand Before You, With Evil Intent, Destroy Them. Does anyone reading this Topic have their own Favourite Sayings, if so write them down and Share Them.

Useless Information.
I enjoy chatting expressing my opinions and writing topics about Notts County the Mighty Magpies, on PON I also enjoy Daft Jokes and Silly Stories and from time to time writing Topics other than the Football Club I've been following for 30 odd years, and this topic is one of the Latter. On a cold April evening in the North Atlantic the biggest ship ever built, deemed practically unsinkable and could carry up to 3,000 passengers hit an Iceberg on it's starboard side and sank, on it's maiden voyage taking with it a large proportion of it's passengers due to the fact the Ship was equipped with insufficient life boats. Now most readers of this topic will automatically know which ship I'm writing about. The R.M.S Titanic. But I'm Not. These facts were written in a Novella by author Morgan Robertson, entitled Futility or the Wreck of the Titan, published in1898 a full 14 years before the Titanic went to the bottom. Questions need to be asked, how could an American author predict what would happen 14 years into the future? Are other worldly powers at work here? Who knows? Abraham Lincoln and John F Kennedy, two American Presidents, both killed by an assassin's bullet to the head. But the Coincidences don't stop there. Both men had children die while they were in office. Lincoln was succeeded by Andrew Johnson, Kennedy by Lydon B Johnson. Andrew Johnson was born in 1808 and Lydon Johnson was born in 1908. Lincoln's killer ran from a theater and hid in a nearby building. Kennedy's killer ran from a Building and hid in a theater. British hero Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson's last words were supposed to be Kiss Me Hardy. In fact Hardy misheard his leader, who actually said Kismet (Fate) Hardy. Nelson body was pickled in a barrel, to stop it rotting while it was taken back to England. And to Finish on a more Happier Note. England Player Peter Crouch was once asked in an interview. What would you have been, if you hadn't become a Footballer? To which Crouchy replied A Virgin.

Nottingham Evening Post Coverage
It as always been a Red Rag. I one time counted how many articles Forest had and how many Notts had. 33 (in a day) for the Red Dogs plus five different Reporters covering them. And 5 for Notts (if they were lucky). Written by some numbskull who never bothered to look into the Magpies history and referred to Notts Greatest Owner as Derek Parvis. There used to be a guy called Lee Curtis who covered Notts, decent Articles and full match coverage. When he left the Notts coverage went down the Dip. I not sure but I think he covers Derby now. Notts could get Promoted each year from League 2 to the Premier League, win the Premier League Title, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Champions League all in one season, and the NEP might just mention it in passing, preferring to tell it's readers how many cups of Tea the Red Dogs owner drinks a day.

Where's All The Money Gone?
Perhaps a major worry will be, should the Magpies get Promoted will there be enough cash in the Notts coffers to bring better level players to the Lane? Will the Brothers be prepared to Splash the Cash or still resort to signing Free Agents, Loanees or Players Not Up To League 1 Standard and just hope for the Best as they seem to have done over the past seasons. Going back to the Quote which made me ask the question and write this topic. The Club is Maintainable and Comfortable to get to Championship Level in Terms of Finance. Now that sounds to me it wouldn't hurt for the Brothers to spend money and take the Odd Gamble on certain Players and Hire a Head Coach with a vast EFL Experience and a Decent Win ratio, unless of course the C.E.O. was Lying to the Fans? Yes I know money has been invested in the Clubs Infrastructure and it's running, but that Quote gives the Impression the money was always there, IF that is the case why hasn't it been put towards gaining success on the Pitch? After all Stuart Maynard was Sacked because he hadn't got the Club to where the Board thought it should be.

Where's All The Money Gone?
Just because it worked at Brentford, doesn't mean it will work at Notts. Anyway I thought the Model adopted at Notts this season is Unique to the Magpies, and had Not been done at any other Club?

Jokes, Cartoons & Memes. It's the Laughter Corner.
I was talking to a neighbour the other day Stan, he's just celebrated his 80th Birthday. He told me he hates getting old. Every time he sees a Bright Light, he starts walking towards it. Plus he keeps forgetting stuff, the other he couldn't find his wallet wouldn't you know, he'd forgot his Trousers.

Home kit out now
Excellent. I Like the New Home Shirt , looks like a proper Notts Shirt, equal width Black and White Stripes and Black Shorts. Thank goodness the awful Red And White Sponsors banner which was plastered across last season's Home Shirt has Gone. I Might even treat myself to one, unless I can convince someone in the Family to buy me an early Christmas Present.

Where's All The Money Gone?
Good Points @menzinho . I fully agree that some of the cash will be given over to running the Club and I think most Clubs run at a loss it's just the amount, but as long as Players and Staff are paid on time, and the Club pays the HMRC what their owed things are allowed to move along. Your point regarding a balance needs to be reached is perhaps the most important, but that Balance hasn't been reached. Everything appears on the surface to be done on the Cheap and it's this that as got Fans frustrated, that along with the selling of the Magpies Top Players certainly annoys Fans and maybe that is why a small number of Fans want the Brothers out. Lack of Ambition. While I still fully support the Brothers I can understand the naysayers point of view, during the Brothers tenure the only success that's come Notts way, was the Playoff Victory at Wembley. When that was achieved the Fans wanted more, which is only to be expected but that hasn't been the case and all the Fans have seen is disappointment and have witnessed the Brothers sell Notts star players and lose a top head Coach only to see them replaced with players, who are Not at the same standards of the departed players and a Head Coach who was at times totally out of his depth. The Recruitment team just seem to hope one or two of those new players come good and possibly help Notts get promoted. And if Notts don't get Promoted the Brothers will continue sell the Clubs Star Players, a Dangerous Game to play because eventually their model and cheapness will see Notts come unstuck.

Jokes, Cartoons & Memes. It's the Laughter Corner.
Anyway I was out in the Garden yesterday, filling up the bird feeder, when my next door neighbour Vicky pokes her head over the Fence and says I see you've got Fat Balls. Bloody hell, I thought she's been peeping again. A mate of mine used to be in the T.A. they trained and drilled like the Regular Army. Anyway one day the Regiment had to have a medical. They were all lined up naked, when the Medical Officer came in. He went up to the chap next to my mate and said. You're Not very big down there are you Soldier. To which the chap replied We're only going to fight them aren't we Sir? Then there was the time a Sergeant Major approached a young Lady of the Night. Excuse me my dear, but how much for the pleasure of my company this evening? £50 was the reply. The Sergeant turn round and yelled Company Quick March.

Nottingham Evening Post Coverage
WOW @Fan of Big Tone and @Robbie you guys have stirred some memories. A mate of mine used to go round the streets of our local town with a bag full of the Football Post (pink coloured) propped on his pushbikes handle bars, and I'd help when I could. We'd peddle round the estates shouting at the top of our voices FOOTBALL POST . The Local Newsagent Mr Rennie would pay my mate and he'd buy me a Bag of Sweets for helping him. Happy Days.

Typical Forest.
This typical of the Red Dogs across the Trent. Notts sign Harry Potter. OOPS Sorry Barry Cotter (need to clear the wax out of my ears) But who do they Sign Jesus. Typical Forest always have to try and go one better than anyone else. Another rumour going about is the Archangel Gabriel is looking for a New Club. Apparently he's rubbish with the ball at his feet, but in the Air he's Brilliant. So if A J is on his way the Notts Recruitment Team should maybe talk to his Agents?
-
Jatta rumour
You would hope @Robbie that if A J was on his way or any other player for that matter, the Owners would have a suitable replacement ready. Only Don't Hold Your Breath.

New keeper signs
Heard Good Things and Bad Things about him. His Experience should be a Boon for the Magpies, and hopefully he's a shouter and Commands respect from his defense. I also read he's like a Vampire, he doesn't like Crosses. So he's got himself a nickname already. The Count.

Where's All The Money Gone?
@True Magpie while I respect your opinion, the way recruitment as been done over the past few seasons doesn't give the impression, that money has been spent on Players or a Head Coach who could push the Magpies forward. It seems that all the Recruitment team does is look at the Data of certain Cheap Players that will, fit in with the Notts Model and will hopefully prove to be a top player in League 2. They struck Lucky with Macca, Ruben, Dan Crowley and A J, player wise and Luke Williams as Head Coach, however data isn't the be all and end all, one thing data can't take into account is the Human Factor and a Players Mental Health, after such things as a serious injury, case in point Cedwyn Scott. Both Matty Palmer and Jodi Jones have struggled since coming back from their respective injuries from last season. Jodi I believe will be able to cope and come back strong, because of his injury history and his experience. It would seem older players can cope with Mental Health Problems, much better than young players. I Don't think you'll get any joy from a Fans Forum, because hard or awkward questions will be ignored. Since the passing of Jason Turner (RIP) the Club doesn't seem to want too interact with the Fans or inform them of Club matters unlike they did when Jason was C.E.O. Examples the Club took forever to announce the state of Jodi's injury and the length of time, he'd be out of the side. In fact I wrote on PON ( a rumour I had heard) that Jodi was going to be out for several months, rather than him missing a couple of games, which Fans first thought would happen. The Departure of Richard Montague and the Saunders Brothers has never been fully explained, the Club didn't put out an official announcement, which lead to all manner of rumours. Admittedly the Club doesn't want to air their dirty washing in Public, but some sort of statement could have been produced for the Fans. Another question why did David McGoldrick leave, it's never been fully explained. One rumour was despite Didzy being offered a New Contract, his salary had taken a huge cut. So is it any wonder he moved from the Lane, if a Club offered him a better financial package? After all his family 's welfare comes before any sort of Loyalty to a Football Club. Splashing the Cash doesn't always work. True. But having a Capable Director Of Football, ( I'm Not Impress with Notts current D.O.F) who knows the EFL and available Players can be much better than a load of Data. A player may cost more than what is Budgeted, but an Experienced D.O.F and Head Coach would be able to tell if the Player is worth paying out that little bit more cash.

Jatta rumour
Wanna Bet? If the Price is right AJ will be on his way, even if it's on the Eve of the season (like Aaron Nemane last season). I also heard a rumour that Jatta didn't go to Germany because of interest from another Club and the visa thing was just used as an excuse. And lets not forget despite the assurance from former head of Recruitment Richard Montague that Notts didn't need to sell Star players i.e. Macca, the Brothers still let him go.

Where's All The Money Gone?
A Fair Point @Robbie , regarding off the pitch activities, they certainly wouldn't have come cheap. But I still think Notts Fans would have preferred success on the pitch before spending large amounts of money on the Nest and New Pitch. Lets be honest a successful Club would entice a better class of player to the Lane, and they in turn would push the Magpies to a higher level. Then again with the Brothers investing so much in the Clubs infrastructure, could this be a pointer that they are planning to sell the Club? After all things that have gone on at the Lane the years the Brothers have owned Notts, would make an appealing prospect to any would be buyer. The Club have been put on a Financial Even Keel, the Nest , Paddle Courts, New Training Ground and New Pitch, plus a Squad of players who's wages aren't going to break the Bank. The latter part of this reply is of course only my own thoughts.

Where's All The Money Gone?
This seems to be a question a lot of Notts Fans are asking. Go back a year to the Magpie Circle Podcast on You Tube. And the following statement was quoted by C.E.O. Joe Palmer. The Club is Maintainable and Comfortable to get to Championship Level in terms of Finance. In the mean time the Club have sold Macca, Dan Crowley and Alex Bass, they have also received compensation for both Ian Burchanell and Luke Williams. The Notts Model states that any money raised will go straight back into the team. Really? So why do the Owners continue to purchase players on the cheap Free Agents or Loanees? It would seem they are hoping to find another Macca Dan Crowley or Alex Bass and sell them on for a Big Profit. Selling all your Top Players comes across to Fans as a Lack of Ambition by the Brothers. It would seem they are quite content to use Notts has a feeder club, and if the Magpies get Promoted then all well and Good, but if they Don't it Doesn't Matter. We'll just keep buying cheap players, loaning players and hiring Free Agents, and change the Head Coach from time to time. So where has all the money gone? It seems the answer to that question will be on the Infrastructure, but why spend money on the Paddle Courts, the Nest or a New Pitch? When it would be better to spend money on getting the Magpies promoted and established as a League 1 side, then Invest in things such as the Fan Zone to help boost the Club's Finances. Always relying on doing things on the cheap, will eventually result in things coming back and biting the Brothers in the backside, and lead to Notts being stuck in League 2 or Heaven Forbid Relegated back into the National League.

Lionesses v Italy
Maybe the England's Men team should take a Leaf out of the Lionesses play book and keep fighting till the end. It ain't Over till it's Over. Lets hope the Magpies adopt the same Strategy for the coming Season.
