  1. I'm torn between Nick Tsaroulla and Alex Bass. I thought David McGoldrick did okay, but he wasn't close to being Man of the Match, with all due respect. I believe Dan Crowley needed to be further up the pitch, as he was quite ineffective yesterday. So, I voted for the player I felt worked the hardest.
  2. Cardiff City 1-0 Portsmouth Leeds United 2-0 Watford Bristol Rovers 1-2 Shrewsbury Town Peterborough United 1-0 Blackpool Fleetwood Town 3-1 Crewe Alexandra Tranmere Rovers 2-1 Grimsby Town Dagenham & Redbridge 2-1 Eastleigh Joker Tamworth 0-1 Yeovil Town
  3. I hope he isn’t just a transitional manager. He can actually make things happen, but he needs to build on strong foundations for the long term. He’s a good coach, but success at the international level depends on understanding the players. One thing foreign managers often get wrong with England is recognising which players can truly uplift the national team and which ones don’t quite fit in with those around them. You can’t just choose players based on reputation or names alone. It’s important to have the right players in the right positions.
  4. I can imagine it was quite exciting to see the results slowly reveal themselves one by one after the final whistle. But honestly, I wouldn’t want to be the person typing in the scores. I can imagine that back then, it was quite a nightmare to update everything, especially in a live environment.
  5. It's great to see someone unexpected scoring the winning goal, especially in such an important match. I agree that his height makes him a natural target. With players like Jatta as well, it forces the opposition to think carefully about who to mark. The joy on Matty Platt's face after scoring, along with his celebration with Jacob Bedeau, was absolutely brilliant.
  6. I was desperately trying to get on after catching a train from London to Nottingham. So, I’m sorry I didn’t vote, @Robbie, but I would have voted for Alex Bass myself. I’m delighted for him; he’s a top goalkeeper.
  7. You have to balance good performances with less-than-perfect ones when aiming for promotion. Who cares what purists think? Similarly, who worries about winning ugly when results like this take some pressure off the team? I believe we did everything we could to secure the result. We will need to rely on the defence to handle threats strongly, and when we can’t, thankfully Alex Bass is exceptional, especially at this level. It was a good win, and it deserves only positive thoughts from us.
  8. It’s a good response from the manager. I'm surprised he didn’t mention the officials or some of the tackles made by the AFC Wimbledon players. Asking for protection in interviews can get quite dull if it happens too often. I would much rather hear about the preparation that went into the match and why things worked or didn’t. I hope Stuart Maynard can focus on the positives because, during the defeats, his responses were pretty typical.
  9. We need to give players time. If they are struggling and need support, we can only help them by being patient. Cedwyn Scott opening up is a big deal; not many players do that in football. I hope he’s okay. Depression is something we, as a fan base, should support. It's important not just for the players, but for our friends too.
  10. He’s one of the best signings we’ve made. If we are to get promoted, his arrival will play a huge part in that achievement. He’s a solid goalkeeper who would thrive in League One. Time and again, he has shown that he makes a real difference here.
  11. I was hesitant to reply to this, as we’ve heard about the manager of the month award having a curse. I really think this topic has jinxed us. We were looking so strong, but then things took a turn for the worse. People started saying that Stuart Maynard was under pressure, even though we were third in the league table. The change we’ve seen is incredible. It’s impressive how much we’ve improved, and despite the challenges, we are managing them and finding solutions. I see no reason to doubt Maynard now. I believe he has earned our full support, and I am encouraged by both his progress and that of the team.
  12. Yes, that’s true, @Piethagoram. I believe it also caused some problems, as I remember reading that we were fined for it. I think the fine was related to the sponsor rather than the actual decision, but my memory on this is a bit hazy now. The shirts were auctioned off, and some of the players wanted to keep them. However, some of these match-worn shirts that are sold or included in sponsorship packages aren’t even worn in matches. I don’t see an issue with second or third kits when they are needed, but I don’t think limited edition kits should be used in League Two.
  13. Blackburn Rovers 2-1 Swansea City QPR 2-2 Portsmouth Blackpool 1-1 Barnsley Lincoln City 0-2 Birmingham City Joker Bradford City 0-1 Gillingham Port Vale 1-0 Fleetwood Town Maidenhead United 2-3 Hartlepool United Sutton United 1-2 Oldham Athletic
  14. Class performance by George Abbott. I can see how the poll would be close, but over time Abbott has been the standout performer. He was good on the ball, did well out wide, and wasn't afraid to get stuck in. His performance was everything we needed. I'm pleased to see him doing well in the votes. He's a strong candidate for it.
  15. Crawley Town 2-2 Shrewsbury Town Peterborough United 1-0 Rotherham United Joker Barrow 0-1 Morecambe Cheltenham Town 1-1 Swindon Town Doncaster Rovers 1-0 Crewe Alexandra Harrogate Town 2-0 Newport County Salford City 2-1 Grimsby Town Tranmere Rovers 0-1 Bradford City
  16. It’s good to hear Matt Palmer’s thoughts ahead of the game. However, I don’t think the interviewer needed to mention the playoff final so much. That is in the past. The focus should be on a typical League Two game, even if it’s a derby against Chesterfield. It’s great to hear about the playoff final, but from the question point of view, it’s all hype. This only leads to some fans having higher expectations. We need to take it as it comes, see how both teams prepare, and just try to get a good result away from home.
  17. You are welcome, @Wheelbarrow repair man. I’m glad you found the help you needed. Don’t forget, you can always reach out to any of the team if you need assistance.
  18. The game looks like it will end in a draw. Chesterfield aren’t setting the league alight, and the hype is more about the rivalry between the teams. They haven’t met since the National League Playoff Final, which adds to the anticipation. If Notts defends well and creates chances, the game shouldn’t be disappointing. If either team wins, it will likely be by a single goal. Chesterfield has drawn many games recently, so it’s hard to predict a clear winner. It seems like one of those games our fans will look forward to, but might find lacklustre on the day. I would be happy with a point.
  19. It wasn’t that long ago that the same person replied to an “On this day” post on the PON Facebook page, talking about Ian. Someone mentioned that he had been present at one of the former players’ events held at Notts. There are some colourful people on that site. I loved the comment from the person calling the other chap boring.
  20. It’s no surprise that Burton are struggling with all the departures and changes they have made. I don’t think they will be relegated from League One, but they need to start showing signs of improvement. It shows how fortunate we are to have retained many of our best players. Even though we have sold some, in football terms, that would be considered a success.

  24. Welcome to the Prde of Nottingham, @Shannon Daly. We hope to see you join in when you feel like it, it would be good to see your thoughts being shared.
  25. It’s a good idea to keep track of injuries. I wish Notts would provide a bit more information when they can. Some teams are very prompt with injury updates, and sometimes we are too. Obviously, with long-term injuries, there’s not much to say, but a monthly update could go a long way.
