  1. I recall Alan Hardy saying he was in favour of B teams on Twitter, as he claimed it helped improved the English game.
  2. I am sure most understand the view point about extra bonuses. The thing I do not get is why the chairman would vote in favour of something which isn't going to be supported very well. The attendances throughout the majority of games was low and that was because fans opt out. If the cup is going to work, it needs further thought and consideration. There is that but when you do not take on board what your own fans say, well what is the point? Fans will opt out of providing their opinions and for good reasons, you need to feel your thoughts matter and in this case I understand why most feel this has not been the case. I am disappointed because I think we will lose more than what we would gain in bonuses.
  3. Both seem to have a good harmony and understanding, so its good to see how they are working together as one. Can we have Nolan tied down to a 10 year contract?
  4. It makes perfect sense, Kevin Nolan should try to work more closely with good academy clubs. Arsenal, Man City, United, Liverpool, Tottenham. Even more closer to home like Forest, Leicester City, Peterborough, Derby etc
  5. They are very good videos, well produced. Deserve more views!
  6. I would agree entirely and "simply allowed the game to pass him by" sums it up well. I'd love to know how many touches he had in the game.
  7. This is one thing about Hollis which deserves praise, he is always positive and focused. Under Kevin Nolan he has been a different player but he deserves more stability, its hard to be the player we need otherwise. Some fans need to lower their criticism of him.
  8. Very entertaining game well worth the season ticket price, the problem is if we do not chase promotion or play competitive football like we saw on Saturday, it really isn't. I hope this is the standard to expect next season, if so sign me up now.
  9. Adam Campbell has done well for Notts. It would be nice to see him mixed into a steady Kevin Nolan side, he hasn't had that but managed to get us goals before. He's not a winger, we are not Arsenal and we should play him as a striker simple as that. Colchester are nothing special but the game will favour those who are braver and work for it. I can see it being a draw also, so lets hope for entertainment and good officials.
  10. We need a different result than the 2-0 home defeat by them. Wycombe played quite well then, so it will be a chance to see how we have changed since. Provided the players try and give 100% I would accept whatever outcome. Play to win Nolan, go for a sensible line-up with plenty of forward options. 1-1 draw for me.
  11. Did the end suddenly swerve into a car crash? The article makes interesting points but I am not sure Notts are any different than other clubs. The flare debate I do think some over react, Mansfield the other year was a bit silly but otherwise it adds to the atmosphere.
  12. Grant has one hell of a shot, he set himself up perfectly for this!
  13. Just find a way to avoid playing Smith from the start, we need pace in midfielder against Hartlepool. Could Jordan Richards come in?
  14. We need a win, drawing or losing would not be good enough with the points Notts require to move away from the relegation zone. After going, what 8 points clear? We should have gone to Stevenage with the mindset of taking a point but the loss leaves us with needing to win over Hartlepool. I believe we can, our home form has been decent under Kevin Nolan. If we can just create the chances, I am certain someone will put them away. 2-0 Notts would be my prediction.
  15. Things have improved and the results speak for themselves, does Nolan need the award? No. Would it be nice? Of course but he will be focused on winning games regardless.
  16. We need to be more positive about this game, Plymouth are a tougher team and we played the right way. I am convinced we can do well on Saturday, so lets continue to show no fear.
  17. Can anyone really moan now? They probably will but some of our fans are just boring.
  18. Notts are playing with confidence now under Nolan, it was vital to see the players show no fear yesterday and I think we can go into any of the remaining games knowing we can get something from them if we play the right way.
  19. The players and to a degree us fans have no right to be disappointed, just look at how far we have came in such a short space of time.
  20. This will be probably one of our biggest tests as of late but things have improved quite a bit. Yesterday the Notts defence looked capable and assured, so we will see how they do against a team that know how to score.
  21. Not the worst match or performance but we didn't protect the goal very well. Pleased we got the win.
  22. We are getting stretched a little too easily at times, but the defence is doing okay. The wings need to offer more protection! I think the second half we will continue to have our backs to the walls. Orient are trying to get something from this, so we need to counter and be smarter with our play.
  23. Of all the players Notts County have within their squad, it’s often the youngsters who are referred to as being the key in order to survive the drop from League Two. In January, the club reinforced itself with the arrivals of Jorge Grant, Marc Bola, Josh Clackstone and Tahvon Campbell. However, it was the arrival of experienced veteran striker Shola Ameobi that captivated the fans' excitement the most. I value the experience that players of Ameobi’s quality bring. Mark Stallard mentioned on BBC Radio Nottingham that Ameobi has the quality to help, noting that the frontman may not be in the prime of his career but if he can regain match sharpness there is no doubt just how significant his arrival would be. Having the likes of Ameobi, Kevin Nolan and Alan Smith on our books as players, individuals who have competed at the highest level and had the careers they've had, does look naturally impressive. They process the right type of knowledge, which is beneficial to a club that is lacking leaders on the pitch, especially one that is in a relegation battle. One thing which struck me recently as I watched Notts play, we tend to be almost one-dimensional and it’s only the senior players who try to overcome this issue. The only exception has been the return of Curtis Thompson, who is a true grafter, yet position-wise, during our own attacks, players are often unsupported and this limits the chances that can be created. Ameobi has gotten stuck in, with another veteran player Mark Yeates currently failing to make any sort of impression for the most part of the minutes in which he has featured. A few good dead balls doesn’t make up for much, yet even he could be a pinnacle player and if Michael O’Connor, Richard Duffy and Robert Milson continue to step up, perhaps it will only be a matter of time for Yeates? I am unsure how much of a part the inexperienced players can play in our survival, Jordan Richards does seem to be a great young player but nowhere near first team standards. However, I am dead certain that the veterans at the club can contribute when it truly matters. The depth looks to be the right balance for survival and I am convinced we have more than enough in order to achieve that. It may be unpopular to suggest seeing Alan Smith, however he can make the odd cameo appearance and provide some real grit in the bulk of midfield. Nolan at this stage must continue to identify the players that can affect and change games, critics may argue that Smith doesn’t have any future as a player. They may argue that Yeates and Jon Stead are both past it, however Notts do look much better with them around. Survival will go down to who is the most prepared, so having a squad which is highly unpredictable, full of experience, and eagerly awaiting youngsters who can make an impact when required. I would hope that the defence, along with Richard Duffy, continues to impress, with Thierry Audel looking all the more like a new signing for the club. It does appear that Nolan does have the right types of headaches when it comes to his selection, with a surprising comeback against Exeter City. It does show that the players are responding to the training and are well aware of the importance these games have on the future of the club.
