  1. Two half of good performances would be nice. The levels drop and its either a good first half and a poor second, or a poor first and a fantastic second. Those stupid flag runners best not be there, I think its daft for a team like ours.
  2. Good win yesterday, second half Notts stole the show and played some very good football. First half we don't need to mention. I am still unsure how exactly we scored but I did think Cheltenham came back well. Even in the second half they didn't look like they was out of it, probably one of the better games at Meadow Lane.
  3. Whichever goalkeeper you prefer, there is no doubt that Notts County have two very capable players in contention for the number 1 jersey in Adam Collin and Ross Fitzsimons, the debate on who should start has valid points for both keepers. However, I aim to explain the difference between the two and who I feel should be the first choice keeper for the Magpies. The knee injury to Collin during the 2-1 win over Barnet within League Two saw Fitzsimons step into the main role and during a heavy spell of pressure, he made several outstanding saves which kept Notts in the game. This was the first time that I had seen Fitzsimons in action and I was genuinely impressed with his reactions, as the game was played largely on the back foot for Notts after Collin was substituted. If he'd been on the field for longer, I would easily have considered him as one of the key candidates for Man of the Match. And I thought if this was the standard he set, well I really couldn’t see how Collin could force his way back into Kevin Nolan’s squad at all. Yet I wanted to write about this subject, but only after having enough time to fairly judge what Fitzsimons brings to the table. Fans who feel that the two keepers are like-for-like are wrong in my opinion, I feel Collin’s experience and age makes him a more polished keeper at this level. However, I certainly see the potential within Fitzsimons and I think overall he’s the much better shot stopper. That said, I disagree that he is better currently and I feel he’s lacking the understanding with the back four that Collin has established over the course of this and last season. I can fully understand why Nolan prefers Collin in goal, but being an unpopular figure at Meadow lane I don’t expect many other fans to give him the credit he deserves. There’s still time however for Fitzsimons to establish himself further, all depending on when Collin returns to action. It is quite possible that we might not see him for a few more months - I believe he was expected to be out for a minimum of 8 weeks which has recently passed. And there is still little news coming out regarding how serious his knee ligament damage is. If Fitzsimons can work on his consistency - as the past few games I feel he’s been quite shaky and I would also say he has shined as much between the sticks as I assumed he would have done - there might be a chance he will retain the position even after Collin’s return to match selection, but I don’t think this is all that likely considering. Collin is more experienced, he’s switched on and alert. This season alone he seems a much different character than he was in his debut season and I think the weaknesses such as his communication have largely been worked on. He seems more confident which I imagine can be hard when the Notts defence switches off, but again we have two capable keepers and the prospect of Fitzsimons is one I feel will only grow in strength during the coming games. I would also like to point out that the position is the most scrutinized positon on the pitch, with fans perhaps being unforgiving of minor mistakes. Fitzsimons has a valuable learning experience and I do feel he will take it, it just may take some time for him to establish the position for his own. 4. What does any of this have to do with us? It sounds like he's already thinking about his CV.
  5. Do you want Milsom to leave? He's a good player IMO. Duffy is not solid and needs replacing ASAP.
  6. I hope we avoid the loan market, we should only consider it if we lose the Forest players. The Non League has some good players, Hawkridge has impressed me since arriving and I wouldn't object to giving others a chance.
  7. It's got to be Yates and Milsom who pair in the centre of midfield. Who else is there Curtis Thompson? His days seem to be numbered at Notts. I also hope that Ameobi returns, we miss him when he doesn't start and no matter how well Stead plays, he just does not offer the same thing. Stead and Ameobi up top would be fine, provided he is fit enough.
  8. He's been doing this all season in the JPT. Sounds like hes trying to justify the outcry from the people who attended Tuesday and felt annoyed that a poor squad selection seemed like the club wasn't interested.
  9. First half was dire, really there are worse words I could use to describe it with but I will stick with that considering people cant accept others point of views. I thought we played quite well in the second half and we scored a well worked goal. I do not see how Kevin feels we should have won the game because I felt the better team was Carlisle. I do think we matched them better in the second half and assumed control of the game well. Good point? Yes but the performance really needs to be consistent.
  10. I feel the club just take everything the wrong way because they cannot relate to their own supporters base, I do not read a lot of comments on social media that I find to cross any lines. At least not under the current ownership and management.
  11. I fail to see how there's anything to complain about. If the club did not want pictures to be leaked of players then its for them to put in measures to prevent this from happening in my opinion. Nolan lost his head when he should have been talking about the upcoming game against Carlisle and I do feel he should apologise properly.
  12. I do think the game will be close but I am going to call it a 1-0 win, with Grant getting the goal.
  13. Surely it's the type of thing that the Nottingham Post would be doing if they had balls? The comments about the fans and the Liam Noble pictures have me thinking Kevin Nolan has lost it. The club has bigger focuses right now, did he think the story would be hidden until he had signed?
  14. Liam Noble is one of those players that are lucky to be playing the game professionally. Any other job he would not be able to return so easily, I know things has changed since he has left Notts with the current owner and manager. But isn't he the prime example of what we aim to be better because of? He's such a snake.
  15. I am sure they did, but no, no they didn't. Reward for playing poorly? I think we robbed Forest Green.
  16. Well Forest are moaning about them being a progress in the making team, but I think this is best describing Notts right now. There is no quick fixes in football but what we have done is gone back to basics and through hard work things are looking very good at the moment. I haven't know a season like this yet, I just hope Mansfield doesn't ruin things.
  17. Take a draw, just don't park the bus. Exeter will want to prove a point but I feel there will be more pressure on them than on us, they need to come away with a good result and after their hype of the game its only going to make things harder.
  18. I didn't know Exeter played Brazil at all. That is a nice link between the two teams and a good bit of history right there! Good answers and questions.
  19. They have become to used to the non league. It was a clear foul and Cowley said it was a 50/50 challenge in his post match radio interview, but he just keeps moaning about it. If only he had the focus on Kevin Nolan, decisions happen and they need to learn to live with it.
  20. I agree with this all day long, the red card was obvious and had the game ended 1-1 it would still be used as an excuse. They lost because in the second half Notts was more composed, whatever Kevin Nolan said at half time worked because Lincoln came out looking to score as quickly as possible.
  21. Do what you need to do Chris, I wouldn't worry because you do a great job here. I am sure Notts fans would agree.
  22. I hate when people compare managers to others, Kevin Nolan is nothing like Sir Alex but I do understand what he means. I just don't like it. The last chairman always said the manager was like some else or could be, I think any manager needs to be respected and known as the boss. The squad respects Kevin so that's a good thing, as is Alan Hardy understanding what Nolan brings to the club.
  23. Just don't lose that is all I ask. Meadow Lane has been great this season and the fortress needs defending at all costs. I wouldn't suggest any changes either, I think the squad selection is obvious and Kevin Nolan will see that.
  24. Solid win for Notts. Will always take the victory over the performance because we have done well before and not got what we deserved. I am 100% sure Kevin Nolan will soon get the performances spot on. What another fantastic win!
